Was Victoria Secret Unhappy Over Giseles’s Weight Gain?

More rumors are coming out over the reasons as to why Gisele Bundchen is no longer working for Victoria Secret. Not only did she allegedly have a long list of demands (such as not appearing on the runway at any time with Leonardo DiCaprio’s fiance Bar Refaeli), but VS may have been unhappy about her 15-pound weight gain.
Remember how we chalked up her 15-pound gain to being because of the size zero debate? Apparently we were wrong - she gained it because she stopped smoking.
And Victoria Secret may not have been happy about it:
Fashionista gossipistas are saying that Victoria’s Secret was not happy that Gisele packed on 15 lbs. after giving up cigarettes. “When you stop smoking you gain weight, because food tastes better than when it tasted like ashtray,” quipped Miss B, whose weight gain and health kick sparked rumors that she might be pregnant with footballer Tom Brady’s li’l pigskin.
I’m not sure if I believe this, since Gisele’s weight gain wasn’t all THAT noticeable to begin with and it certainly didn’t make her look chubby or anything. But who really knows? We will have to see if she starts getting other jobs and/or loses the weight to be sure!
I don’t believe VS wants 0 size models..after all they want them to have boobs and bottoms..right?
oh come on..it’s not like she’ s chubby now … i think she looks great..and good for her for stop smoking..i guess VS would rather have gisele with lung cancer and be super skinny then healthy…with a whole “extra” few pounds

she is like almost 6 ft tall. thats like 5-10 pounds on an avg women.
no way has she put 15 lbs on!!! thats craziness… if this is her 15lbs bigger then she mustve been ridiculously skinny before- which she wasnt. sure shes thin/skinny but also toned. she looks great, and so what she ditched VS, she was one of the top-notch models they had and now they’ve lost her, they’ve only got a few more big names but apart from that the other girls are just standard. so i guess its there loss. she’ll get work else where she is gorgeous, although her face isn’t that amazing.
hmm now that i look at that shot, her nose and that pointy chin… it makes her look like a witch
I doubt this is true. First of all, VS wants curvy women. Secondly, 15 pounds is not too much to airbrush off.

I read the article that her “quip” came from (May’s Allure), and she says that she quit smoking two-and-a-half years ago.

Yeah, I don’t buy the whole “VS-ditching-her-for-her-weight-gain” deal.. look at Adrianna Lima! Even with the weight gain, Giselle still isn’t as curvy as her.
I think it’s bull- she looks as good as ever- it’s a money issue.

Also think about it, even before tyra put on weight, she was still bigger than giselle when she was modelling for victoria’s secret (well towards the end of her career for sure).

Nah, I don’t believe it. Tyra repeatedly stated before she retired VS NEVER, EVER asked her to lose weight. Not once.
I’m in Brazil and I heard the news on the tv, it was speculated that she asked for the raise because she knew that VS wouldn’t pay her, so Gisele could be free to live her life without break some clauses in the contract. Her VS contract didn’t allow her to get married or even get pregnant. If this is the real reason, I sort of understand her… i think better not renew it than break the contract and have to pay VS instead!
If you guys remember what happened to read something Heidi, it makes sense why Gisele quit now.

It was a money thing, plain and simple. When Victoria Secret first booked Gisele she got a decent ammount. But when she renewed her contract it became one of the most expensive endorsement deals on the planet (Third actually, after #2 Angelina Jolie for st. John and #1 Catherine Zeta Jones for T-Mobile) . Then Gisele wanted even more money to renew again because she is now the highest paid model in the world, and still in her 20’s. But the economy isn’t doing great right now so companies just aren’t renewing those multi-million dollar several year contracts, Cathrine Zeta Jones was let go from T-Mobile, and Angelina is no longer doing st. John ……see the connection?
cokate- I think that Heidi Klum article is really out-dated and inacurate, because since it was written Heidi has had 2 more kids, but still is with Victoria Secret and is now featured more prominently than ever.

I don’t think she gained weight, and if she did, they kept Tyra on VS for mad long, and she was pretty heavy (for her) when she left VS. Maybe Gisele just wants to move on.
if they were pissed because she gained 15 freaking pounds from quitting smoking then they’re rediculous. i’m proud of her for quitting. i’m trying to and i’m nervous that i’m going to gain weight but you can barely tell on gisele. what the hell haha.

I read some interview where she said she gained about 15 lbs after she stopped smoking in 2003 or something, a couple of years ago anyway.
Giselle is the most beautiful woman EVER. VS probably didn’t want to spend the money. I think she gained it in the breasts and midsection.

I find it odd that Gisele’s weight seems to be the “issue” with so many when the discussion of her contract with Victoria’s Secret, due to salary dispute, was repeatedly talked about on cable news shows as well as on “standard” news channels.
The information is also thrust in ones face while perusing the web.

I don’t think they would terminate a contract due to weight gain, esp. someone like Giselle who still looks damn good. If that’s what they do, then Adriana Lima should be long gone…

Gisele’s just one of those people who looks good with a little extra weight. There was definitely a gain but she’s so tall and well-proportioned that she carries it well. She looks healthy and amazing not that she didn’t before.

gisele was overpaid to begin with and she has outrageous demands. bar refaeli is younger and more attractive than gisele. vs has courted bar in the past and gisele was unhappy about it. also, gisele is the most expensive angel and she’s far from the most attractive. i don’t think her body is particularly suited for VS. alessandra ambrosio, marisa miller, oluchi and adriana have what many would deem “VS Bodies,” the 90s supermodel look that is healthy, lean and classically gorgeous. gisele is not classically beautiful. she should take out those implants and return to runway modelling.
I don’t really see the 15 pounds, but she is 5″11–15 pounds is not too noticable on a tall frame like that.
I love Giselle. I wish I had her body!!!! OMG!!!!! She’s so hot. People who are calling her ugle and fat are full of it. If she did gain weight, I surely can’t see it.

she might have gained 5 pounds! because adrianna lima definitley gained weight but miss B looks still thin, not rail thin but still super model thin.
oh, come on…that’s rediculous. Of course she didn’t part ways with VS because of 15 pounds! And as a matter of fact before reading this i could’t tell she has gained weight and as you may have seen she is as slim as Lima or Kurkova or any other VS model.
P.S. By the way … i don’t think VS wants only 0 size models because Tyra Banks wasn’t 0 size while she was working for VS and ,neither was Heidy Klum. I think there is something a lot more than just weight gain or list of demends….but i am sure that VS has deffinitely made a mistake by not keeping Gisele!
