Cate Blanchett Is Awfully Bony

Maybe I’ve seen too many photos of celebrity skeletons lately, but I don’t think Cate looks like she is on her death bed or anything. Yes, she is very, very skinny and has bones popping out all over the place. Yes, she looks malnourished. But deathly skinny? Hmm…
I do see a little meat on some of those bones… or am I imagining things?

It took me some time to decide on this one and I´m still not sure. The only picture that looks shocking to me is the first one, but it could just be the pose and facial expression.
Yes, she does have bony shoulders but I think it´s her hair, make-up and outit that make her look so scary. The rest of her body looks OK to me.
She has always looked this way to me. I just think she has a small body frame. Love her dress.
… Maybe some people have become desensitized to what constitutes as too-thin or malnourished, because NOTHING about Cate Blanchett says healthy, attractive or slim.
Don’t get me wrong… I’m a huge Cate fan - I think she’s gorgeous, fashionable and classy. And I think her creamy complexion is beautiful - not everyone needs to be the color of a toxic oompa loompa. But she looks like she’s suffering from the consumption. Her shoulders are frightening and her body looks completely unproportional to her beautiful dress. She is in serious need of some weight gain.
Seriously, she isn’t that skinny. She looks so thin be cause a) her make up is corpse-like b) her expression is heroin chic/skinny chick c) she has little shoulder bones and rib cage and they seem to be thin

I think Cate is just naturally slender, and yes, she does look a little thinner than normal for her. But I really think the make-up is probably contributing more than anything to her “sickly” image here, especially in the first picture, which is not a very flattering angle. I don’t know,call me crazy, but she looks normal for her, it’s just she has bony shoulders and high cheekbones. What’s new?

I think her eye make-up is playing into her look, but she just doesn’t look good. She’s always one to look gorgeous and healthy while still slim, but…. this just doesn’t suit her. It makes me sad.

This is totally just the way that she is posing. Anyhow, she’s always been very willowy to begin with. I think she’s lovely and a talented actress. Not the best choice of dress or makeup, or hair, however.
She’s not too thin, I think she looks good. In all three photos her shoulders are so far pushed back you can hardly see her collarbone, especially in the first and last. Doing that always accentuates those top shoulder bones. Her chest bones are hardly noticeable.

ive always thought she is very elegant. her body shape isnt so skinny, its more her collarbone. i think when cate it at a certain weight her body is slim but ok except for her shoulders. its just that some people gain and loose in more noticeable spots. getting a tan would also make her look healthier.

yeah_i_said_it, cate blanchett is actually TALENTED. She is not a Kate, a Jessica, or a Nicole. She was in “Notes on a Scandal,” for instance, and earned herself a best supporting actress nomination. I adore Cate and think she is an incredible, classy, beautiful lady.

I don’t think she is deathly skinny by any means. She has a very pronounced clavicle but other than that, she looks normal.
If you go to popsugar.com, it is a totally different photo. I think this was photoshoped because she doesn’t look this thin on the other photos.

As for near death - like several people pointed out, I think it’s more of a case of bone structure. Her shoulders are very bony indeed, and she looks very dehydrated in the face, but the rest of her body isn’t too thin. Definitely very, VERY thin, but not overly so.

Little tan could be helpful. Her shoulders are very bony, but it is the pale look what makes her look so skinny. Little sun or more healthily - you can buy your tan from market these days!

the makeup does not help her complexion. The guy/girl who did it must really hate her-nobody looks good with ash metallic eyeshadow pulled right until your earlobes and no lipstick and no eyelash colour. Cate hon remember the golden rule? No trashy lipstick plus big black doll eyes just one or the other do the maths. I am a bit confused about her weight. Granted she was always slim and she may be just slim even here. My collarbones are also sticking out and I am nowhere near auswitz territory. Her lower body looks much more shapely but again it may be the illusion of the industrial wire dress. In any case she can eat a sanwich or two
I think it´s just terrible combination of wrong make-up (especially eye make-up) wrong hair done and dress - of course she´s thin but not skinny - in my opinion….

The “meat” you see on her bones is leftover fat. She’s starved off all of her muscle. If she’d lost weight the healthy way, that would not have happened.

I think she is a perfect example of a pear-shaped body type - everything she loses, she loses from her upper body. Judging by her hips and arms, she doesn’t look sick-thin to me.

Normally, I would never, ever say this….. but, I think she is too thin. That doesn’t mean I don’t realize she’s always been tiny, has a very small bone structure, and that the makeup/dress don’t help, and it doesn’t mean that in some sick way I don’t like the look….. but, I think she has taken things a titch too far here.

She looks horrible. Even if she doesn’t look “that thin”, you can tell she has some sort of an eating problem (don’t want to go as far as saying she has anorexia). The reason I say this is because she has lost weight in wierd places. Starving yourself causes you to lose weight in wierd places like your shoulders, lower arms, etc depending on the person. It also makes your face look… well pretty much how she looks here. Her complexion also suggests she is unwell. This is just my guess though, and I study and have a lot of experience with eating disorders.
OMG. This is definitely for a movie role. Cate Blanchett is too smart and too secure a woman to ever do this to herself just cuz. My goodness. I hope they threw in a few million dollars for her to do this to herself.
