she definitely needs to tone, she’s carrying some extra weight - which would be ok if she were toned, but she’s not. you can tell in her arms and upper thighs. anyone can have muscular thighs, that’s pretty easily attained, it’s the rest of her that needs some attention.

I really don’t mean to be rude to Vanessa or anyone else who will get angry with me but the first thing I saw when I looked at these pictures (on another site - so I am not nit-picking at every one on this site) was STOMACH! it looks like she went to the all you can eat buffet and got her money’s worth.

She is on vacation, not a photo shoot. If she were doing a photo shoot she would be in a better suit (no horizontal stripes), sucking in her stomach, hair and make up professionally done, spray-tanned six pack, and she’d be perfectly posed for optimum thinness, you know, with one leg in front of the other like models do so their legs look so long and thin–then she’d give off that illusion of a perfect body. Of course there’d be a little photoshopping before the pictures were published. But under the circumstances, since some stalking photographer caught her in a relaxed moment, she looks pretty good.
I think she’s in very good shape, everything just fits, I think that’s more important than to be really really thin! so, go on girl!

We’ve been taught to see Nicole Richie as normal, so seeing a fit and healthy woman, like Vanessa, makes us think she is chubby. I think the bikini is an unflattering fit for her and her posture is also bad in these pictures. She has a puffy gut in the first picture and her hips and thighs are kind of lumpy. Her body isn’t as great as I once thought it was - at least not in these pics. Then again, she could just be bloated.

I think the thing to keep in mind when reading people’s comments on celebreties’ weight, is that most of us compare their bodies to OTHER celebs.
By no means is she overweight ot fat compared to the general population, BUT she is at the high end weight-wise compared to her female celeb counterparts.

As a personal trainer I’d have to agree that she is a little on the chubby side. Not fat, at all, but she could benefit from some crunches and lunges. Maybe some sit ups. In two weeks she could flatten her abs quite well. She only needs to work out a little more, she’s pretty slim already. But there’s always room for improvement.
