Lily Allen Admits to Having Body Issues

The talented and beautiful Lily Allen admitted on her Myspace page this past weekend that she sometimes gets depressed about her figure. Sunday, she was so upset that she was considering Liposuction and/or gastric bypass surgery. (No way is she a candidate for gastric bypass surgery!)
“I used to pride myself on being strong-minded and not being some stupid girl obsessed with the way I look. I felt like it didn’t matter if I was a bit chubby because I’m not a model, I’m a singer,” Allen wrote.
“[But] I’m afraid I am not strong and have fallen victim to the evil machine. I write to you in a sea of tears from my hotel bed in Seattle. I have spent the past hour researching gastric bypass surgery and laser liposuction.”
Monday of this week, she posted a quick blurb assuring her fans that she was feeling better about herself:
“Hi guys, I’m sorry if I worried anyone with the blog I wrote yesterday. I was feeling pretty sorry for myself, I’ve been reading all your comments and they have made me realize there is more to life than being thin! So thank you.”
It’s always interesting to hear celebrities admit that they are human like the rest of us. Personally, I think Lily is extremely talented. She may not be stick-thin like the rest of them, but who says she - or anyone, for that matter - has to be?

Personally I really like Lily Allen.
I think shes very pretty, even if shes not skinny you can hardly call her fat. Shes a normal weight. Also would rather look like her then Amy Wino.
she’s a brilliant singer and she looks great while not being stick-thin. that’s also good for all her little fans’ body images. including me

*unimpressed* Having body issues pretty much comes with the ovaries. Why is it a big deal that she had them when almost every other girl has too?

but some the many victoria beckham body worshippers, comments about how a woman need to be toned all the time, women with thighs described as walking elephants i.e vanessa minnilo/beyonce etc
there is so little tolerance for other body types that arent very skinny
we seem to live in a society where girls aspire to one body type, they are willing to mess up their bodies, abuse drugs, develop eating habits they may never fully recover from why, to all become clones may-kate ashley/jessica alba?

not her fans, her manager, press etc and i really hope she realises she is attractive and healthy, she just works in an industry where girls are convinced being that little thinner, more toned, prettier etc will get them noticed instead of having talent which is what she already has
When I get depressed about my body shape, I go on a diet rather than research liposuction. But that’s just the difference between me and her. (And I am thinner than her although I am not suggesting she should lose weight.)
I don’t care for her voice, I find it rather shrill.
But mostly I’m turned off by the fact that she’s only famous because of her dad, and feels the need to talk smack about other people all the time. Its tacky, immature and makes her seem ugly (on the inside)

I love Lily, and I totally called her being famous like last July when no one knew about her and now shes everywhere, I’m so good.

I can’t say that I have really heard her music, but I wouldn’t call her big. She has a nice shape and she shouldn’t have to lose weight unless she really wants to lose it.

I saw an interview with her on E! today. Part of her sudden insecurities was from standing next to Kate Moss a lot at a recent event. That’s enough to make anyone want lipo.

Don’t forget how Cheryl Cole/Tweedy from Girls Aloud called her “a chick with a dick!” That was HILARIOUS.
No matter if I sympathize with her body image issues or not, I can’t take much that Lily Allen says seriously since so much of her own fame is just from her slagging off people left and right. Essentially, she can dish it, but she can’t take it. Just seems like whining.

I will say that Allen needs to go to the gym, but she’s actually one of the few who like quite pretty w/weight on. Her face is uniquely pretty and she dresses well enough usually to cover any fat bits. By the way, most American fans don’t know about Keith Allen. We just know that accents and funny/cute lyrics work well together. Give her credit, she’s found her niche in the industry and not just bit off of everyone else’s music like Paris Hilton or Brooke Hogan.
wtf? As if she needs to lose weight! She’s obviously at a perfectly healthy weight. This makes me sad.
LAMBMAN, we here don’t even know who her father is, what made her famous are her songs(Smile, little things, etc..) almost all her songs are really nice and she has got a good voice and is pretty.
Quite frankly, I’m sure websites like these don’t help. Gossiping and commenting (usually negatively) on celebrities’ bodies, when most of us probably look just the same or worse, is destructive to not only them, but to ourselves as well.
She is a little bottom-heavy and un-toned that’s all. She’s a normal girl but unfortunately, she’s now in celebrity land and we all know the pressures brought to bare on normal people once they enter La La Land. Expect to see her slim down rapidly by July.

i personally dont think she is only famous for her father, i actually like her music and find her talanted.
she is bigger than i would want to be but it suits her quite well coz she has a proportioned feminine shape . She is also very pretty. I kinda like the way she tells it how it is.
I have never heard any of her songs (gasp!) and I am not planning to go out and beg a DJ for a lilly allen song but if I come across one I will certainly listen to. It was the same thing with that beached whale (yeah i am using this obscene term once again bite me!) beth ditto. I went to great lengths to find one of her songs even downloaded one (which I have to stress out I never do this illegal stuff
and it was a major dissapointment). I think the problems with us “edgy ” brits is that we idolise any less than plastic barbie perfect new singer no matter if she smells or if she is cr*p at the end just to show the european “cultured ” point of view (?). Of course this is just a personal opinion maybe I am completely wrong. Anyway back to the brass tacks: until I hear some Allen I cannot comment on her talent but I am sure that her sweet daddy had something to do with her success. Nepotism is the way of things-one should be crazy to think that this chubette became famous by her own or by her s exual skills. I find her public breakdown very human and very refreshing in an era of fembots and I also like her foul mouth. However at the end of the day I think she is a conceited insecure little spoilt b iatch and yeah lilly hon you are fat-deal with it

She just has issues, cause nobody really likes her, as her music’s more or less “out”.
unlike kelly clarkson, i find lily’s weight completely okay because it just seems to be the way her body was naturally supposed to be proportioned. she doesn’t seem like she’s that size from going on junk food sprees every hour on the hour (which i think is something k. clarkson does when she gains–yes, i really don’t like that woman).
like someone else said above though, i wouldn’t be surprised if she slimmed down noticeably come a few months down the road, or by the next album. which actually, is kind of sad.
I feel bad for her younger fans who read this. When you look up to someone and they say they are fat, I think that gets the fan (if young and impressionable) questioning if they are fat too. Lilly Allen is not obsese…she’s look leaner if she did not wear flats everywhere. Heels give hight and lengthen..anyway, this whole breakdown of her made me truned off by her.
lambman: Lily Allen is not famous because of her dad (Keith Allen), she is famous for writing and singing her own songs. She had four nominations at the Brit Awards 2007.
And so what if she says what she thinks? Doesn’t she have the right to do so? You seem to say what you think so be at least so open minded to let others do the same.
when i first heard of lily i too thought, oh rich famous daddy no doubt she got signed up so quickly and is being so heavily promoted
but the thing is despite all this which must have helped she actually has talent, this is not a stella Mccartney situation
the gobby thing is just the culture that is prominent with growing up in london, unfamous people i meet everyday are just as gobby, there is a reason why the british youth are so disrespectful of authority, and it has always been that way since the 70’s with punks, rockers and mods

we are the people who buy the weekly magasines going on about people’s wieght etc (i try not to waste my money on them), if we do not demand unreasonable requirements i.e. ignore nicole richie starving herself, or stop comapring everywoman to victoria beckham etc this obsession with wieght will die

Lily Allen is always brutally honest, thats why you hear so many comments from her about other people so why should she not be honest about how she feels about her weight?
I agree with lambman, although she looks fine- shes certainly not ugly- theres a difference between being honest and being a bitch. And, in my opinion, her music is absolutely horrific. Its quite embarrassing. I heard she forgot the words to her own song once and her roadies had to google it for her. Her dad is an unbelievably talented actor, I have no doubt that fact influenced her popularity and rise to fame somehow. However, as for her being fat and ugly, well I don’t think she is either, she looks alright, and while I certainly don’t admire her style (and neither do most people clearly as her new line was hardly flying off the shelves) I believe that it is important for girls who are not stick thin or fat (like myself and the majority of peole I know) to realise that its ok not to survive on nothing but lettuce and carrots. Theres more to life.
She should get out and do sports or something. That would make her feel a bit better about her self image while remaining healthy. It doesn’t take a genius!

if a girl had a voice like her and a face/body like her and didn’t have a famous dad there is no way she would have gotten a record deal in the first place, so she is only famous because of the doors opened by her dad, even if you don’t know who he is.
Her writing is nothing special, and neither is her voice. If she had a voice like Amy Winehouse, Kelly Clarkson, Christina Augilara or something it would be a different story, but she doesn’t. she’s just remarkabley average.
i love lily, she may be a bit chunkier than ur average celeb, but hey i think thats a good thing so go her!!!

By admitting she’s got weight issues I think she’s just completely wiped out all potential sales of her tacky, child sweat-shop manufactured crappy clothes in her New Look range. Good to see she has brains as well as a beer gut, eh?
