National Enquirer: Nicole Richie is Pregnant

Is this true? Somehow I’m doubting it. Nobody else has officially reported the story, and the National Enquirer is known for being wrong about 70% of the time.
What do you all think?

the National Enquirer is such bs. they photoshop pictures and crap too. nic’s stomach is poochy because she’s supposedly malnutritioned.. but then again lots of factors could come into play (1)bloaty (2) gassy (3) hasnt pooped (4) just ate, etc.. etc… NOW if it keeps growing THEN i’ll believe it.
nice! because her belly is sticking out a bit they are accusing her of being pregnant! i’m sure that’ll inspire her to eat and seek treatment! gawd. its just going to make her starve herself even more. so sad… and i agree lilpixie, i would be surprised if she still got her period.
I agree with Lilpixie in that I also doubt that she is still having periods at her weight. Her stomach is probably due to malnutrition, or simply bloating, or (hopefully but unlikely) a recent meal.
I really feel bad for this poor girl. She must feel so alone to do this to herself. She must see what it is doing to her body and is completely unable to herself from continuing to partake in this harmful behavior. I really hope someone gets her to go into treatment.
that’s not a baby-bump. it looks more like bloating. either from eating something or just gas in general.

If Nicole Richie is actually 83lbs, there’s almost no way she’s getting her period. Thus, making it impossible for her to be preagnant. Good lord, the stuff people come up with.

Elle- 110 at 5′6 is technically (by medical and most people’s standards) considered underweight. I am 5′6 and when I was a very lean 112 I looked rather unhealthy. But then again, everyone is different…

When you’re anorexic, your stomach muscles aren’t strong enough to hold your organs tight to your body. That’s why people who are malnourished have protruding stomachs (Nicole included). To say she’s pregnant is REDIC! She’s too thin and sickly to menstruate, how the hell is she pregers?!?!?!

there’s no way for her to be pregnant.. even now she has periods she can’t to be pregnant because she was illing so long time, her body is really not ready to keep baby for all 9 months and to keep him fine, if she become pregnant at this time, she would really lost her baby in a few months
Karmalife- I guess I didn’t think of it like that. I’m 5′6″ and 109-110, I definitely do not resemble a skeleton. Everyone carries weight differently. With a small bone structure I guess you can pull off lower numbers without looking too frail.
when i was veeery sickly scary skinny not only did i stop getting my period for almost 2 years, but every time i DID eat, my tummy ballooned up like a starving african’s. no way is she capable of getting preggers. she can’t even digest the food properly, hence the etheopian-esque tummy post eating

Okay, so I realize that Nicole Richie probably is struggling with either food issues or drug issues, BUT I just would to say that it is entirely possible that she had some kind of health issue that has cause her to lose mass amounts of weight.
I had a friend who lost like 20 pounds in a month, maybe even less than, and we all thought she had an eating disorder because she was skin and bones, and wasn’t eating a lot, and looking sick. Anyways, it turned out it wasn’t an eating disorder but she had something call celiac disease where she can’t have bread, or something. And that was why she lost so much weight. So I’m just saying, it COULD be something other that food or drug issues.

Ha! Ha! funny. I doubt that SHE is pregnant. It is possible to get pregnant w/o your period (I did), but clearly she isn’t healthy enough. I agree with Agne, even if she were pegnant, she would most likely lose the baby due to being so unhealthy.
Malnutritioned ppl have a swollen belly…for Nicole, she might not get that and think she is still too fat…and try to starve herself some more…but for us well educated ppl, its just another sign of malnutrition…I love how the Enquirer wants to make this a baby bump news to get ppl reading…well who ever buys into it and actually buys the mag. is absolutely an idiot!…ohh and how can an 83 pound person have get preg. she needs to gain weight to get her period and then be able to get impregnated

Also, I always assumed Angelina was taller than 5′7″ I’d have guessed her to be 5′9….its funny to picture Angelina being 3 inches shorter than Katie Holmes lol

I am 5′2 & when I was 90lbs I was a little girl’s size 10, NO WAY is she smaller than that.

I live in Japan and there are plenty of women here (of similar stature to Nicole) who get pregnant at 38, 39 kilos and give birth weighing less than 45.

110 lbs at 5′6 is very thin, but definitely not gross. I would say definitely not to get thinner than that at that height. I hope to God Nicole isn’t pregnant (I’m sure the other posters are right on when they say that it is malnutrition) because that baby has not a chance to be healthy. Plus, it is damn near impossible for a woman with that little body fat to get preggers.

The story is probably bull but women can get pregnant even when they’re not getting their periods. I read an article about an eating disorder activist and she got pregnant while incredibly underweight and her period had been gone for more than a year. Strange things happen.

Uhh, you can lose your period and still get pregnant. Since everyone is using starving Ethiopians as examples today, I might as well add that some of those starving people do have kids, regardless of whethere their period is lost or not.

When I was that thin I did not have my periods, and normally that makes it impossible to get pregnant. The only way you can get pregnant when you don’t have your period is when you should normally have gotten it (your period) next month, but that is very rare.
nah. clearly, it’s malnutrition. yet sadly, just earlier today i read in one of the stupid mags in the waiting room of a doctor’s office, her dress being quoted as being great as it emphasized her “toned legs.” now tell me that the average girl who sees this is not influenced by this to begin to equate malnutrition and looking fit and healthy.
Oh God, these “Nicole looks pregnant” stories are reeeeeeeeally going to encourage her to get better and return to a healthy weight. Poor girl.

…..I agree with you. Starving Ethiopians most probably don’t have periods too, but have children as they continue to multiply anyways. So there must be a way to get pregnant without having a regular period.
But of course I don’t think Nicole is pregnant. Maybe she had just drunk/eaten somethin therefore the bump. And of course it hasn’t been caused by malnutrition. Have you seen a bump caused by malnutrition? It does not look like that. It is much more protruding and bulky. Nicole’s is just a regular one caused by a meal or gases.

SuperModelSuzie, the “pot belly” seen in malnourished people isn’t caused by weak stomach muscles, stop making stuff up.
It looks like she has oedema, which is fluid retention in the abdominal area that is caused by severe malnutrition.
The stereotype of the “starving Etheopian child” that you are all talking about is the disease kwashiorkor, which appears only in children, and of which oedema is a common symptom. It is caused by being weaned too early (usually becuase the mother is also malnourished and can’t provide milk) and then recieving unsufficient amino acids and vitamins that the child would get from the milk they need, and is rapidly fatal. Very sad indeed.
Anyway, many anorexics who get oedema see the swelling as “putting on weight” and restrict their diets even further. I imagine that being called pregnant on top of that can’t be good for her body image.
She needs to stop the denial and go seek some serious help!

I have known other people with eating disordes to get pregnant at a VERY low weight and one girl menstruated until she was in the low 70’s weight wise.
That being said, I doubt she’s pregnant. I HOPE she’s not.

Although I don’t think she is pregnant, it is very possible to get pregnant at a low weight. Speaking from experience, i was 77lbs at 5′3 and still managed it. I wasn’t menstruating at the time, but I did have my period up until about 80lbs.
Plus, did it ever occur to anyone that she may be on the pill or hormone tablets to induce her period? Saying that there’s no way she could be menstruating just shows how dumb half of you are. Of course it’s possible.
Celebrities weights they publish in gossip magazines are mostly speculation, but I don’t think nicole is 83lbs I would say more like 90lbs.

the national enquirer is totally illegitimate as a source of information. I really pity nicole. Her family should seriously plan some sort of intervention and send her away to a treatment center. It’s obvious she’s been dealing with a HUGE problem for a long time.

Those kinds of magazines will post ANYTHING. I saw one in the store yesterday that said there were BABIES LIVING ON THE TITANIC AT THE BOTTOM OF THE OCEAN. Seriously. And I would like to point out that it is COMPLETELY POSSIBLE for someone to get pregnant even if they no longer can have their period. The reason anorexics lose their period is because their muscles are no longer strong enough to contract to shed the lining of their uterus. It DOES NOT mean they stop ovulating. Therefore, she COULD be pregnant, but it’s not likely.
