   really bad…wasn’t she stick thin in that ‘’I'm like a bird video'’? Things change…I’ve noticed her weight gain before, when her bikini pictures came out. Those legs are horrible, why did she put on nylons and mini dress, that’s disturbing…Her lower part looks like if she is 60 y.o..Don’t blame her, but it’s definetely not nice to see her at that weight.

    I think she may have gained a few, but the outfit is also horribly unflattering, so it’s hard to tell. You have to be quite thin to pull off a bandage dress. When she dresses in a manner that suits her figure she looks good.

    I love this girl. Oh so talented.
    But no- she hasn’t gained weight. First of all, the angles of these shots are anything but flattering. Second, Nelly has always been a “normal” sized girl with rather thick legs. That’s just the way she is. Sometimes I wish she’d get skinny like the rest of them and other times I want to slap myself for thinking that way because I’m glad that she hasn’t fallen into that celebrity trap. She’s had plenty of time to become a stick if she wanted to- obviously she’s happy just the way she is.

    Nelly looks great, the classic pear shape should be epitomized it is what really distinguishes men from women. That small upper body, and curvier lower half is beautiful and very feminine. And personally I prefer it, I would rather be pear shaped than to be straight up and down as a man or young boy would.

    There is nothing wrong with broader hips its feminine to not appreciate broader hips is to not appreciate the shape of a woman would you rather look like a pre-pubescent boy?

    Unflattering angles and tights. She has a beautiful, curvy, WOMANLY figure. I think she looks fantastic, even if what she’s wearing isn’t totally flattering. She looks the way a real, healthy woman should. She’s definatly pear-shaped, but I think it’s the best body type to have, apple-shaped women look odd to me.

    I’d rather be pear shaped than top heavy, i think it looks much better. Its not the worst body shape at all, many, many men looove a good butt and legs on a girl, more than the boobs.

    I think she looks fine, cute. and the shiny tights are a noooooooooo but the rest looks good.

    I agree with someone above that said she shouldn’t be wearing shiny semi-translucent tights… the flash against that fabric always creates a thicker silhouette. I also think that angles are just that; angles. People on this site think that everything from a directly-beneath to a head-on shot are “bad angles.” Angles create distortion, but they cannot create actual fat lumps.

    before her baby she was very skinny. looks like she wasn’t able to take the weight off. She has a gorgeous face though. I think she doesn’t look fat at all. She is a pear shape and I think she is at an appropriate weight.

    that said, it’s not the dress that makes you look fat. it’s the fat that makes you look fat.

    she’s canadian, actually. a canadian whose family heritage is portuguese… which is european. latina represents women from latin america which um…. isn’t anywhere remotely close to europe.
    anyway… enough geography

    i think she looks great. lets not forget, she’s had kids, she’s getting a little bit older and i feel the image she’s projecting to young girls is really positive. i mean honestly, who would you rather look like: nelly furtado or arnold schwart… i mean *ahem* madonna?

    She should stop putting her hair up in a pony tile, she looks even more skinnier in the face when she does that and it doesn’t come off as flattering. It only eccentuates her high cheekbones and makes her eyes look even more strung out. I think the fringe/bangs looked better on her.

    I honestly don’t think she looks that bad. I used to make myself sick with envy over her tummy, and yeah, my legs were and are toothpicks. She’s got a slim face and a flat gut, so I’ll forgive some thigh thickness; I think many girls wouldn’t mind looking like her here.

    Allright, we might not know the extent of what that super spandex is hiding, but hey….. it could be worse, although that outfit truly is hideous. I’ts like Roger Rabbit (not Jessica) style.

    She was very thin before she had her baby but she’s been thicker ever since. She has been dressed very cleverly so no one has really made a big deal about it. Shiny tights on camera never flatter. And yeah, bad angles.

    For her being bigger on the bottom half that shows that she is pretty lazy. If she got up and walked AWAY from the couch she wouldn’t have that. If I remember correctly in her promiscous video she was thin . So the gain must have been recent but I remember seeing her on her before discussing how big heer calves and ankles were so it was gradual, but nonetheless a big weight gain. PS the outfit sucks too.

    Her legs look seriously fat here. I don’t mean fat for the industry, I mean porky pig fat. But I like her and she’s pretty. Maybe it’s just a bad angle but she should definately do a few more lunges. One can be womanly, curvy and pear shaped without having legs that look like sausages stuffed into shoes.

    Then again it might be the outfit. Either way, she isnt fat, she just needs to do some lunges, or go running for those damn legs.

    I think that Nelly gained a lot of weight during her pregnancy. She has however had 3yrs or so to lose. Maybe she is comfortable with her new curvey body and isnt keen on being a size 2 again. Theres no shame in that. More power to her!!

    She even claimed that after she gave birth to her child her body changed. She gained alot more booty and legs and she loves it because she used to be so skinny. She’s also been in her 20’s the whole time in the spotlight and during those years, us women go through alot of changes with our bodies. I think she looks wonderful.     She has thick legs — but who cares? She could probably exercise 4 hours a day and eat some retarded restrictive diet and its never going to change the way genetics built her body. And I’ll chime in and say I disagree that this is the worst body shape to have. Being “pear shaped” is medically healthier than being “apple shaped”. I’ve got thin thin legs naturally and no amount of eating/inactivity would ever make them significantly bigger, but my belly and arms fatten up quite easily and it ain’t pretty. Belly fat is very unhealthy.

    I love her and I love the way she looks. She is talented. Women come in all shapes and sizes. Why should only one shape and size be considered ‘presentable’ as an artist? I mean, we are talking about someone who is far, far away from what we would consider ‘fat’ on the street. She is a healthy and very active woman.     OMG katie you read my mind. those semi sheer tights with shine are not helping. pop a flash and the legs look much bigger. The bandage dress makes women look curvier so the dress isn’t helping either. Then, yeah, the angle - from down looking up is never good.
    Anyway, she’s far from needing to be given grief about her weight. She’ still gorgeous and talented.

    And stop giving straight and narrow women a hard time. I’m naturally like that and it’s just as sh*tty to criticize us as it is to criticize curvey women.

     I read an interview with her a while ago where she had talked about losing alot of weight and how much happier she was with herself because of it.      er… guys… italians and spanish and portoguese are indeed called latinos. Have you never heard of italian guys being called “latin lovers”? cheesy and gross but so it is. maybe it is not a term frequently used in the US but US is not the centre of the world-hard to understand but true. Latin America is called so because mainly portoguese and spanish (of latin origin people) invaded the country in 1492. So by virtue-calling a Portoguese canadian “of latin origin” is perfectly ok for me
     However I disagree about the existence of “the latin bodytype” or more correctly the mediterranean bodytype-that is thin upper body and thighs that tend to infinity. I remember some stuff said in the fran drescher post who is jewish. or maybe it is just wishful thinking coz I am half mediterranean! still my british mates a*ses are bigger than my greek ones!

     i’ve seen numerous photos of her and i think the times she *doesn’t* look like the pear shape that she is has been due to wearing the correct clothing for her body type, she is neither tall nor thin nor lanky. big thighs, legs and ass and short legs. i’m not being mean, i’m simply addressing the obvious.

     She is short and stout. I saw her at the Juno’s (The Canadian Grammy’s), when she hosted it and she is tiny in person. She is small, but really bottom heavy. That’s why we usually see her in pants or something long covering her legs. She also has a wonky Paris Hilton eye, but she is still pretty.

     Actually, here in Portugal we do think of ourselves, the Italians and the Spanish as “latinos”. It means something a bit different in the US but yes, South-Europeans are their own brand of latinos as far as we’re concerned. It’s not ignorance, it’s a different cultural definition. She has a very typical Portuguese body actually, Portuguese women are not famous for their long legs but she’s gorgeous and most of all, she is AT EASE with her body, she obviously likes it, we should all be this healthy, leave her be. Why should it matter so much to everyone how someone else looks? It’s appalling.

     I really love Nelly Furtado….. from her first album, Whoa! Nelly until her amazing release of Loose. She has a daughter Nevis, whose father is DJ Jasper Gahunia. Nevis is ethnically a quarter Filipino, a quarter Asian Indian, and half Portuguese. WOW. Quite a blend. Her body has changed a lot, but I think she is amazing.

     I’m really shocked to see a whole thread discussion on the size of Nelly’s ass. I did notice that she was looking thicker in this video. But so what. I chanced upon this website while looking for celebs who had assets like mine. I was trying to feel good about my body type and then there’s this whole debate on if she’s dispropotionate. Why sterotype? And what’s wrong with Nelly’s pear shaped figure. I love her music and don’t care if it came out of her fat ass.
