OK, Jim’s gut isn’t really that big. But when female celebrities have this much tummy-flab, they definitely get criticized.

I guess if I had ever in my life considered Jim a stud, I would be very disappointed right now. He has appealed to me only because of his acting talent and comedic abilities. I like the guy but I have never cared less whether or not he had a gut.

Well, I think he’s alright for a dude in his 40’s. Maybe he’s working on gaining weight for a role. I know he was in really good shape for that crappy “Number 33″ movie that came fairly recently, he’d lost a bunch of weight for that movie…maybe now that he doesn’t have to he decided to relax a bit.
It’s not like he looks like john travolta or anything.
and this is why i will always say i feel that men have it SOO much easier… a guy can be chubby and still be hot… not that im saying jim carey is hot.. and guys naturally can just eat so many more calories which makes me very jealous… o well.

If he had a short haircut, and was dressed in a slimming black suit with a good cut he’d look…… like he does in his movies or at awards shows. Maybe he’s been this way for awhile.
Either way, I agree, in general, the public is more forgiving of guys’ “letting themselves go,” so to speak, but I know guys who admire women for their personalities, so to speak, as well.
I would like to request a George Clooney weight-loss post!! He’s been looking very streamlined lately and I think I read a headline someplace that he’s lost weight.

I guess he’s still cuddlyish cute to some tastes, but certainly not hot.
There’s no excuse, it’s so easy (compared to women) for men to build muscle and lose fat. I know, because my partner took up weight training just after I did, and while I do look toned, he became positively buff within a few weeks. His love-handles then melted away with no dieting at all (though we eat quite low carb) - just by having that extra muscle.
PS, re ‘ok for a man in their 40′, that’s no excuse at all!! In fact all the more reason to keep really fit. There are plenty of buff men in their 40s, 50s, 60s and onward. It becomes super important for all-over health not to let oneself go like that, not just a matter of vanity. My partner is 50 now, and looks better than ever!
Yeahh i disagree with Manda as well. A lot of girls can be chubby and look great. Look curvacous…in a good way. A sexy way.

i agree with lambman; jim was pretty thin when he was out promoting “the number 23″, so i wonder if he might just be rebounding from that a little now that he doesn’t have to keep up that look anymore. he seems like he has a naturally thin build, so it does seem like this could be for a role. even if it’s not, i bet he could get right back down to his lower weight pretty easily because he does seem to have that naturally slim frame. (remember how gawky he used to be?)

Anyways, I agree…it’s nice and refreshing to see more males-weight gain and loss…seriously there are plenty of ‘manorexics’ out there that could be included on this site.
He’s sort of muffin-topping. Now look at Jenny’s figure. It shows that women really do value humor in a partner. I’m not going to knock him though, because I still like him. I’m not crushing on him, but I’m a fan.
wow everyone is over reacting so much. he has gained weight, but he is not obese or disgusting. he’s getting older… that’s what happens to some people. and the first picture makes him look much bigger than he is. you can tell in the second picture that the weight gain really isnt that horrid.
That’s what being happy in love buys you….20 extra pounds. It’s nice to know it’s not just women who are vulnerable.

Love him! He’s not man candy, he’s a man. His job isn’t to make us swoon. If ladies want to get turned on, try a vibrator. Yes he’d look better if he dropped a few and tightened up, but he’s talented as hell and looks like he’s finally happy. IMO that puts him far above the frantically exercising, carb-watching, self-loathing celebs of both genders.

That guy has always irritated me…but that aside- judged against the average joe (or jim?) in society, this guy is normal. not slim, not fat, just….normal- and definitley not anything to shout about.

I always thought Jim was sorta hot when he had a normal expression on his face, and not his usual warped rubber-faced goofiness. But he just looks wierd here — fragile little wrists, no biceps and all squashy around the middle.
We don’t cut the women any slack, why shoud it be OK for him to bounce around the beach in this condition and not get slammed?? As a man, and a relatively young one at that, it wouldnt be hard for him to lose the flab and gain some muscle. He should chance Jenny down the beach for a few miles. Daily.

It’s interesting how it’s somehow “okay” for a man to have a less-than-ideal body but for a woman to have a body like that is abhorrent.

he’s one of those guys that are naturally slim, and when they gain weight it looks odd. a daily dose of exercise he’ll be in shape in no time
