Star: Celebs Who Beat Cellulite
June 12th, 2007 by Rian | Filed under Tabloid Magazines, Celebrity Cellulite.
Star Magazine has a six-page celebrity cellulite special feature running in their current edition. Again. We all know Britney is getting Lipo-dissolve - but did you know that it costs her $1,500 for each of the 12 treatments she receives?
And what celebrity diet/body tabloid story is complete without a Jessica Simpson blurb thrown in? This time, they dredged up photos from last summer. According to the story, Jessica “looks” to have gotten a treatment on her cellulite called Dermasonic. Meanwhile, Uma Thurman got a procedure called Smart Lipo.
Mariah Carey has joined the Lipo-Dissolve fan club, according to the article. A photo that is nearly 2 years old is thrown in for good measure.
Didn’t they do this story already on these same celebrities just a few months ago…? Oh well. You can read the scanned article here if you are so inclined.

OK - MIscha Barton weighs about twelve-and-a-half pounds, and they’re telling her to watch what she eats?!?!? What are these people on?
Oh, please!!!!!!! It depends of the picture, the lightning, the position… …. …. …. ….
I have cellulite..can’t get rid of it, no matter what I do! I can’t afford to get LIP DISSOLVE or whatever it is..
Oh Puh-lease!
I agree Sara. You can’t beat cellulite, just accept it’s a part of life for most women and move on. I hate it when trashy magazines have articles like this suggesting that what is normal is disgusting and needs to be fixed. there are bigger things to worry about in life.
Cellulite can be gotten rid of naturally. It just takes A LOT of time and effort (it took me a full year of hard work). It’s unfortunate that celebs go out and suck the fat out w/o doing the work and parade their fabulous bodies around. What ever happened to hard work and patience?
no one is perfect, people need to get over it!
ps the only way someone would be is w/ a doctors help!!
this article is sexist.
I don’t see Star taking close-ups of all the men in hollywood’s sagging man boobs and lumpy pot bellies
Cellulite is a fact of life for women (even thin women - as this article shows). It is part of our biological make-up, the way our bodies are genetically created to “store fat” so we can still have reproduction potential during lean times. There is almost nothing any woman can do to fight it, unless you want to spend thousands on surgery and/or starve yourself to Ethiopian proportions.
It is so friggin sick in our society that magazines pick on the tiniest flaws of otherwise thin, healthy women. Some of these women are MOTHERS for christ’s sake
oh BULLSHIT.
It’s called PHOTOSHOP.
Nicky Hilton hasn’t excercised one day in her life- that bitch has cellulite everywhere.
There are people who are ALL muscle and still have a little bit- this is ridiculous.
Please… it is a stupid article. People, womens have cellulite, so stop the critics, i’m getting tired of comments that says things like “oh, it’s soo disgusting”. If you don’t believe me, well, just take a look of your own thighs.
Natural or not, cellulite is pretty nasty. It’s possible to reduce the size of the fat cells, but not the number. Difficult, but possible.
Why is it anyway that cellulite is such a big issue? Come on, it’s more natural to have it than not to have it. Being a normal woman I sure have some too, but as Fliss above says, there’s a bunch of more important things going on in my life than getting rid of cellulite.
photoshop people….photoshop
Anon — hate to say it but you are wrong, no amount of patience and exercise will get rid of cellulite — reduce the appearance, yes, but as others above have stated its simply comes with being female.
Check out what this article says about Mischa Barton. It is really obnoxious.
Oh boy. The Cellulite debate continues..
I would be so embarassed if my picture were taken in a bikini- then again, if I looked like some of the women did in the above article, I wouldn’t go out in public (that’s just me).
I am a firm believer in a few things; Yes, cellulite is genetic but I also believe (and am living proof) that you have the ability to control the degree in which you have it. Diet and exercise helps a lot. And I see nothing wrong with getting any type of procedure done as a last resort. I was looking into it getting a consultation for LipoDissolve myself. But I am planning on doing all the hard work first and then seeing if what will help complete the package, so to speak.
DEJA- A lot of places have payment plans. Believe me, I don’t have tons of money to spend on it either but it’s worth looking into if it can actually benefit you.
Kg- that’s nothing. All over the internet they call her “Mushy Fartone”, ever since the first pictures came out of her cellulite.
Ugh, cellulite is largely genetic and also comes with being female, as the structure of the fat cells push through the skin. Even tiny models have cellulite. No creams or amount of body brushing significantly reduce it, and even when I ate carefully, drank tons of water, limited caffeine and exercised, I still couldn’t rid myself of it.
A lot of these bad photos are lighting/angles - for instance, in the most recent pap shot of Britney, she has cellulite again. And sorry, but where do Kim Stewart or Beyoncé have cellulite in those photos?
Answer to Pip: You can see Beyonce’s cellulilte on the underneath leg. This is probably the slightest form of cellulite out there (the kind you see when you pinch your skin). As for Kim Stewart, it’s on the back of her legs but I think it’s just hard to see from the scanned photo.
Personally, I think cellulite pictures are gross. Maybe I just don’t understand because I don’t wear bikinis at public beaches. I’ve suffered from “cottage cheese” since fifteen, so I just cover it up because even at my skinniest it was still there. Eww!
SandinistaGirl: Personally, I think that you need a bit of self-esteem and enjoy your life girl… First, you should go to a nudist beach and discover the human body…
Kiss kiss
Am I only one who doesn’t have a problem with cellulite? People act like looking at it scalds their retinas or something. It’s not like it’s open sores or something! It’s just cellulite. Perfectly natural.
Have any of you ‘normal people’ (aka not celebs with zillions of dollars) tried Lipo-Dissolve or any of the fancy treatments mentioned in the article?
I swear, companies pay Start to hype their latest treatment.
Just curious if anyone has tried it, for real..
kel
That is the stupedist thing I have ever seen! There is no such thing as “cellulite”; it is simply the way the connective tissue can cause fat to pucker or ripple, and is more apparent on some people than on others. The media has made is seem like some sort of disease that needs to be cured, it’s ridiculous!
Also, all of the pictures show no difference other than lighting, picture resolution and PhotoShop. I love how the suggest Mischa Barton needs to watch her weight, it’s insulting to the intelligence!
Slurm: What do you mean “there’s no such thing as cellulite”? You defined it yourself!!
“The term cellulite originated in France more than 150 years ago and began appearing in English language publications in the late 1960s, the earliest reference in Vogue magazine”
Source Wikepedia
Personally, I think it’s wonderful that some of you aren’t bothered by cellulite and think it’s no big deal at all. I honestly wish I felt that way. But I’m disgusted by it (probably because I have it myself) and no matter what I tell myself I don’t think that will ever change.
I see it as an imperfection and I know it’s sad that so many of us are obsessed like this. Maybe one day the models of the world will stop being photo shopped and airbrushed and we can all smile when those dimples show up on the cover of women’s magazines…
(Yeah right.. Let me go back to dreaming..)
YOU WANNA GET RID OF CELLULITE?
There’s no secret, DON’T EAT ANY MEAT, have very little or NO DAIRY, and of course NO JUNK, reduce SUGAR & NO WHITE CARBS, limit alcohol and coffee (take tea instead) take vitamins and mineral supplements.
Apply firming cream every day and gently brush target areas with a balled hairbrush to remove toxins.
Plus a little bit of daily walking or butt lifting exercise and voila! cellulite free legs and butt IN A MONTH.
Can we all join hands and chant/sing, “WTFC”?
everyone has cellulite…. jut a matter of angle and the state your muscle is in relation to the fat… no matter how much fat you have…. lol… i dont have much that god.. but i get massages weekly.. maybe that helps? or is it the rugby and biking/??
julie writes: “There’s no secret, DON’T EAT ANY MEAT, have very little or NO DAIRY, and of course NO JUNK, reduce SUGAR & NO WHITE CARBS…”
sorry julie, you just described my vegan diet of 8 years of which time my cellulite was worse than after i resumed eating meat and dairy again. you’re advocating primarily a carbohydrate diet ie. fruits/vegetables and grains. when i ate that way i had weak and sagging flesh compared to today… on a meat diet, now, i’ve got the cutest little muscles everywhere, and yes, i still have cellulite. even though i’m underweight and work out a lot. if your diet worked, you could write a best seller book and become the richest woman in the universe.
whoever said the article is sexist, i’m with you on that one. sounds like it was written by some guy who doesn’t have a clue about cellulite.
What? Beyonce and Mariah Carey have cellulite when they cross their legs? EVERYONE has cellulite when they cross their legs, even people who don’t have cellulite have cellulite when they cross their legs.
They even talk about her being in the “early stages of cellulite”, like it’s a disease!
The whole article is some “doctor” guessing that they’ve had all these procedures done. I mean if the end result is the same for all of them - no cellulite (and probably just in those photos becuase of the angles/lighting), then I don’t see how he can be pulling all these procedures out of his ass:
‘She “looks” like she’s had several Dermasonic sessions.’
‘I think she “may” have been treated with Smart Lipo.’
‘She “may” have benefited from carboxytherapy.”
‘She “could well” have used a Wellbox.’
‘It looks like “she might” use Mesotherapy.’
And then Star magazine continues to use these guesses as facts.
Whatever Julie, that would so not be worth it.
Meat is not bad for you. I don’t see how it would cause cellulite. I was a strict vegetarian for 4 years and lived a lifestyle that is pretty close to what you described just there. And guess what? There was still cellulite.
Different things work for different people. I think the best way to beat the cellulite is: Don’t overdo it on the junk food and alcohol, exercise regularly, drink plenty of water, massage your thigns/ass once or twice a day, and maybe lose some weight (I know thin people got cellulite too, but weight loss has been show to reduce the appearance of cellulite).
But if you can’t do all that, then who cares! Pretty much all women have cellulite.
No. I’m sorry. I disagree. Everyone does NOT get dimples when they cross their legs.
I am so tired of this cellulite debate. It never ends..
Jodi- what exactly are what chanting about??
The chant is “Who The Fuck Cares”, Yo. (Hey, that makes me sound all “street”, putting “Yo” at the end o’ the sentence!)
Oh, and P.S. I don’t get dimples when I cross my legs either!
Karma, Cellulite is no different than fat anywhere on your body.
Stupid stupid stupid. If someone photographs you running on the beach in bright sunlight, you’re going to have cellulite. I mean, supermodels have cellulite. Karolina Kurkova “has cellulite”. Even Kate Moss has cellulite! One day you see it, the next you don’t!
Oh bugger.
We all just loove cellulite. It’s everywhere! And you can’t stop that bitch.
I wish I had the money to do that treatment!
Blimey Julie - think I’d rather have cellulite thanks.
True, scientists have not been able to distinguish it from the other fats of the body, but still it has been defined as a “condition”, “sydrome” and “phenomenon”. It is what it is and if you say the word, the whole world knows what you’re talking about!!
Nope, not EVERYONE has cellulite. women who are hard core about what they eat, exercise regularly do not have cellulite. do MOST women have cellulite? yes. but definitely not all.
Lolly- you’re never going to win that argument around here. All you’ll ever hear is that so and so works out, eats clean and STILL gets cellulite. I personally believe that a lot of factors come into play. But I am also someone who is genetically inclined to get it in a severe way if I am inactive and do not watch what I eat. Once I get disciplined, it all changes. So I agree with you- it can be controlled. At the same time, I had to go to VERY unhealthy measures to completely rid myself of every ounce of fat on my body (including the dimples). So like I said, I think it just depends on the person…
Personally, I think that you can work on cellulite. But for me there’s no way of ever getting rid of it - and I’m only 19. My connective tissue is too weak - so there is no use for me in doing sports or watching what I eat. - BUT I think it’s so gross to write about Mischa Barton (who’s definetely whether chubby nor fat) that she should be reminded of the “bad consequence” of desserts. Hell, what’s the point in denouncing celluite as something “vicious”? If you want to work on it - do it. But imho it is something natural. Why can’t we simply accept our bodies the way they are?
God, they are so mean is this article
@lolly
NINETY PERCENT of women have cellulite. Even athletes get it so don’t tell me you can beat cellulite by exercising and dieting.
I think you can improve the state of those pesky dimples by looking after yourself but you can’t get rid of cellulite once you have it. Not even if you spend a trillion bucks on lipo dissolve or whatever it’s called because I bet the orange peel keeps coming back after a while.
And by the way I think life’s too short to life off dressing-free salads. You surely miss out on the good things in life running four miles every day, hanging yourself up on some stupid dimples you can’t avoid anyway.
even if they’re stars..doesn’t mean they’re not human..duh!! we all have cellulites..that’s nature…so,stop making a big deal out of it..
This is so lame, THEY ARE JUST TRYING TO SELL THEIR STUPID OVERPRICED PRODUCTS AND TREATMENTS THAT DON’T WORK AND IN THE PROCESS MAKE WOMEN FEEL BAD ABOUT THEMSELVES AND WORRY ABOUT THEIR THIGHS INSTEAD OF USING THEIR BRAINS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD.
Yes, cellulite can be solved supposedly, it takes 1-2 years on a raw food diet avoiding all processed and heated proteins and other substances that cause the skin to retain water. I am trying this now. All I eat is fresh raw fruits, raw egg yolks and raw salmon, but not too much protein a day. I am very fit, work out a lot and have nice muscle tone. Hormones cause cellulite too because they cause temporary water retention. No matter what, you gotta do it through diet (the right diet) and not with these treatments and creams. Check this out:
Cellulite and acne are caused by excessive water pressure in the upper layer of the skin. This pressure causes the blocking of pores (acne) and the ‘’pushing out'’ of fat cells (cellulite).
So, what causes water retention / excessive water pressure in the skin ?
There are several factors that can cause water retention:
* Eating cooked proteins
* Eating salts and spices
* Eating too much protein-foods (even when raw and unprepared)
* Eating foods causing high blood sugar
* Constipation aggravates the condition because it causes excessive proteins to leak through the bowel
* An impaired hormone metabolism because you’re for example using the anticonception pill or steroids (prednison, or otherwise)
Babe, what is up with all the protein bashing? Last I heard, fat and excessive processed food and sugar causes fat and cellulite.
Hmmm i’m sure we can all afford expensive cellulite treatments every month….rolls eyes.
Cellulite is very very difficult to treat. You can basically lower your body fat right down to almost unhealthy levels, pay for expensive cosmetic treatments or just accept it is part of life for most women. It doesn’t mean you are fat or unhealthy, most men accept it and you could spend your whole life obsessing over it and it wouldn’t change a thing.
I’d prefer reading in my native language, because my knowledge of your languange is no so well. But it was interesting! Look for some my links:
