Sorry that this article is a bit late… I believe it is from last week’s edition of Star Magazine.

It’s summertime, and as usual, the tabloids are running celebrity “winners and losers” articles. Since I cannot scan this story in, I’ll sum it up for you:

  • Kate Bosworth is a winner because she gained approximately 17 needed pounds on her thin frame;
  • Kelly Clarkson is a loser because she gained 23 pounds (according to the article);
  • Amy Winehouse is a loser because she lost 13 pounds on her already too-thin frame;
  • Christine Taylor is a winner because she gained 10 needed pounds;
  • Jessica Simpson (of course she is mentioned in this article!) is a winner because she lost 15 or so pounds;
  • Rachel Ray is a loser because she has gained roughly 15 unnecessary pounds this year;
  • America Ferrera is a winner because she lost 20 pounds; (in the before/after photos they provide, she looks exactly the same!)
  • Quentin Tarantino is a loser because he has gained about 45 pounds!
  • Britney Spears is a loser because she has gained 10 pounds or so since rehab;
  • Ross Matthews (the intern from “Celebrity Fit Club”) is a winner because he has lost 30 pounds;
  • Brooke Burke is a winner because she lost her baby weight in record time;

That about sums up the article… what do you all think? Personally, I don’t think America Ferrera lost 20 pounds. With her height, it would have showed up a lot more. Also, Britney Spears seems to have bounced back and forth 15 or so pounds for the last year. (What happened to her plans of getting into a size 2?) Hmm…

    All I can say for sure, is that Quentin Tarantino definitely gained weight. You can see it it Grindhouse.

    2nd! Kelly Clarkson is a loser full stop

    Britney is really fat now.

  5. bec | 13/07/07

    LOL…this magazine seems to suggest women’s bodies should be one-size-fits-all & you should lose or gain weight accordingly. wow.

  6. lambman | 13/07/07

    I love that people who loose are winners and then other people are loosers lol its seems oxymoronic

    Great for Christine Taylor, she’s so gorgeous and funny (always wondered why not more popular) and she definetly needed to gain 10-15 pounds

    I definitely agree that Britney is bigger now.

    But, ugh…these tabloid stories make me sick.

  8. Alyssa | 13/07/07

    Yeah, I absolutely detest tabloid stories like this. I mean really, what’s the point?

  9. emilee. | 13/07/07

    could you upload the pictures?
    if it’s not too much trouble that is.
    thanks 8)

    oh right, you can’t. sorry about that.

  11. Anna | 13/07/07

    britney is a fat selfish bitch and always will be

  12. *Sullen Girl* | 13/07/07

    Amy Winehouse is a loser for MORE than her weight…. haha.

  13. tim jones | 13/07/07

    I love how some random doctor, who may not even be a medical doctor suggests they do crunches. Crunches, because spot treatment works, and because crunches are not the biggest waste of time ever. Good advice.

    Kelly Clarkson gained way more than 23lbs between those two pics. The yellow gown looks like her at her lowest weight (she looks reeeeally thin for herself, probably like 120). The “now” pic of her has to be like 160

  15. Persephone | 13/07/07

    Well, it is kind of nice to see some different celebrities mentioned this time.

  16. margaretta | 13/07/07

    I think this is all horsedung
    They all look the same same same

  17. gmkgd | 13/07/07

    What’s ridiculous also is how they estimate almost in ounces:
    - Kate Boswroth: 17 pounds

    Oh really? So you just look at the girl and determine it’s not 15, not 20, but 17?

    As for Britney it’s not her weight that she should be criticized for. How many of us have struggled with dieting at one point or another?

    It’s her shocking immaturity and vulgarity that should be sneered at, not her body.

  18. MelodySoul | 13/07/07

    America Ferrera definitely lost some weight, I think 20 lbs is accurate.

  19. b | 13/07/07

    i like how they included not only the ppl that lost weight as winners but the ppl that gained healthy weight as well:)

  20. Tucker | 13/07/07

    Kelly is not 160 pounds right now!
    She is way too short for that

  21. Ala | 13/07/07

    Well, considering Britney made her millions off her BODY, I think it is perfectly acceptable to comment on it. We all commented on it when it was perfect, so why not now?

    I agree it is funny they give precise numbers for the celebs weights….17 lbs…13 lbs…they do this b/c it sounds more scientific and like they actually weighed them themselves, which we know is bullshit. Who buys this crap?

    Tim Jones- I agree, crunches suck ass and spot workouts dont exist. PS- Is that your real name? Just curious..

    Rachael Ray is getting really fat , she is on the cover of the National Enquirer titled Rachael Ray’s
    weight explodes.

  23. comquat | 14/07/07

    She isn’t at all fat, just has a weird shape

  24. DaveW | 14/07/07

    These magazines are read by shallow insecure teenage girls and bored middle aged housewives who try to bring excitement into their drab lives by trying to live through the lives of complete strangers. Both groups are pathetic. Clarkson looks far better now than she did before. Her bones exemplified by her skull are far too big for her to ever happily and healthfully be a small woman.

  25. ~*~katie~*~ | 15/07/07

    Ahhhh lol all i can pay attention to is the top of the mag cover that shows criss angel…soooooooo hott :D

  26. Anna | 16/07/07

    i agree that estimating their weight is a bunch of crap….they seem to be way off on some of them for sure

  27. Miss M | 17/07/07

    My God, how sad that we actually think of people as winners and losers when it comes to weight. Just shows what a sick society we are.

  28. afg394 | 18/07/07

    I don’t get the positive tabload stories about celebrities losing baby weight in 4 weeks or less. I mean, if you’re a model like Brooke Burke and Heidi Klum, you probably can’t get away with keeping even a little pregnancy weight. But if you lose 25 pounds in 4 weeks, you’re obviously spending more time at the gym than with your newborn. I’m sure if they nurse their children the benefits over formula are negated by the health food and overexcercising.

  29. WHAT?! | 31/07/07

    Kelly Clarkson looks tons better in the second picture than in the first. How can they call her a loser?
