After all the negative press surrounding Jenny Craig lately, I don’t know why anyone bothers going on the diet! After all, its two major celebrity clients have now both gained back much - if not all - of the weight they supposedly lost on the diet.

We all know about Kirstie’s story; now Valerie Bertinelli was spotted recently, looking much larger than the Jenny Craig weight loss photos had showed her. Star Magazine has written a story about the scandal; click here to read it!

Oh wow. Valerie could be lying.

  2. Anonymous Realist | 31/07/07

Maybe if she could stick to the diet, it might work. Story of most gluttons.

Then again, dieting generally doesn’t work. Because it’s a diet. You do it, then you stop doing it. Permanent lifestyle changes are what work. Oh well, can’t expect the Hollywood Dripplelite to know that.

Also, “that” (above) won’t sell papers.

  4. plastichearts | 31/07/07

    what happened between,
    nicole + joel?
you’d think people would catch on by now that its a total fad diet after all the bad press.

  5. donna | 31/07/07

She doesn’t look that bad in the bathingsuit. This article is ridiculous. Of course you look different weight-wise in a dress than in a bathingsuit. Why don’t they just leave her alone and pick on someone with a more obvious body change?

  6. veronica | 31/07/07

There isn’t that big of a difference between the two pics. They are exaggerating. Anybody looks bigger in a bathing suit than in a pair of jeans–they hold you in. I have a flat stomach but two days of bad carbs and I look 5 months pregnant. On someone that short, all of 5 lbs. could make a big difference. Isn’t that what most people gain on vacation?

  7. Christine | 31/07/07

I agree, Donna and Veronica. Also, if she is actually wearing SPANX, who cares? Half of hollywood does, from what I understand. What diet/diet pill/etc actually does what it’s ads claim anyway? Please. I think she looks just fine in a bathsuit, especially considering her height and her age. As the above posters said, most people look better in clothes than in bathing suits!

  8. Persephone | 31/07/07

She looks the same in the dress and the swimsuit. It looks like she was wearing spanxs or something under the dress.

  9. Jodi | 31/07/07

I can’t wait to see her strut onto the Oprah stage, following in the galumphy footsteps of sister-loser Kirstie Alley, wearing a pair of industrial-weight pantyhose hiked up to her tits, with a crazy, squiggly seam up the middle, like a beacon screaming, “Look! Look! Look!”

  10. lambman | 31/07/07

this is the stupidest article I’ve ever read…if you take it literally it sound like they’re implying she wore somebody else’s body to the Harry Potter premier lol. It’s a red carpet photo! You can see originals on any of the site like getty or wireimage.

Also, loosing 30 lbs in 14 weeks is loosing 2.2 pounds a week, which is entirely reasonable and if you’re getting paid and sticking to a prescibed Jenny Craig type diet and do exercise it can be done easily!

  11. Edan | 31/07/07

I have seen spanx on shelves, but I don’t know anyone who uses them.
I am a slim girl but i would be interested in something like this depending on what I am wearing.
Would they be useful on me or are they more made for people who have real problem areas, i.e: stomach and hips??

  12. Annie | 31/07/07

Kirstie’s the one lying now and gaining the weight back. Such a shame b/c I love her. Poor Valerie isn’t lying, Just look at her upper arms in the dress, she’s still big. You can’t compare a tight black dress with undergarments to a bathing suit (and she’s bending forward so her belly might be hanging out more).

  13. tim jones | 31/07/07

I think Valerie looks hot as hell. Very sexy body

  14. The Craigster | 31/07/07

First, I’d like to say that this article is a complete joke! Selling unrealistic expectation? Oh, and magazines and pills for other diets aren’t. I think it is amusing that this unresearched junk can be published. Almost every woman looks better when they go out. They put on make up, bra, do their hair, wear spanx–dressing to impress. Valerie never said she was perfect, neither did anyone else. Losing weight at a rate of 1 to 2 pounds per week is not unhealthy or too fast. And, she walks daily with a weighted vest. It is possible, her always looking perfect is not. Just ask me how I know.

  15. skbtch | 31/07/07

edan, check out bordeaux skinnyz (www.bordx.com) they are actually made by a guy who was with spanx but now makes sexier shapewear. they was featured on ktla and they are AMAZING. i never even considered wearing spanx but this stuff is nottttt your grandma’s underwear. =) it’s actually pretty and they’ve teamed up with a leading designer to use light lining in gorgeous dresses.

  16. Cara | 31/07/07

I don` t see a big difference between the two photos.

  17. Alicia | 31/07/07

The doctor says it’s unrealistic to lose weight with dieting and exercising. Uh, no, it’s not. What else is there?

  18. Anna | 31/07/07

i dont see much of a difference either cara. i guess what valerie and kirstie need to know that staying slim is a lifestyle, not a diet. who the hell wants to live on jenny craig for the rest of their lives? learn better eating habits, ladies and live a healthier lifestyle and you wont have to rely on jenny craig to get and stay slim!!!

  19. SupermodelSuzie | 31/07/07

What a shame, she looked so great in her most recent Jenny commercial!

  20. Fiona | 31/07/07

I would like to see recent pics of Kirstie Alley

Please Skinny Girl!!! post some pics of Kirstie!!!

  21. horndog69 | 31/07/07

No wonder Eddie dumped her! She’s a blimp!!!

  22. Minnie | 31/07/07

The Jenny Craig thing is a great way to start the rest of your life. When you are horribly overweight it can be overwhelming, and at least when you begin, you have controlled portions to ease you in to it. So you start to lose the weight, while getting your body used to the appropriate quantities, leaving your brain available to concentrate on developing an exercising habit and figuring out what to do besides eat when you’re bored/sad/mad/lonely.

The thing we all have to remember is that it is only the beginning. Ultimately you stop doing Jenny Craig, and that is when the hard work starts. But I think it’s good to be in good shape for that starting point - you’ve earned your body, and you sure don’t want to lose it again.

I think we shouldn’t knock Jenny Craig, but have a clear understanding that it’s a temporary ‘leg-up’ to the challenge we face for the rest of our lives, and not a permanent solution. People just need to use it wisely.

And re Valerie - I’m sorry, did magic photoshop people follow her all over the red carpet, invisibly whittling her down before our very eyes? No - let’s just say Yay for spanks. And don’t knock her when she’s doing her best.

  23. Spectra | 31/07/07

I had no idea that Kirstie was gaining back weight. Too bad for her…she was doing so well. I don’t think it’s a big deal that Valerie was wearing Spanx for the JC pictures. Heck, who doesn’t want to look 10 lbs thinner than they really are, especially when they are overweight?

  24. Ala | 31/07/07

Well, in the commercials she looks WAY smaller and way prettier than Kirstie ever did!

  25. MiMi | 31/07/07

I seen the commercial and the weight that she did lost is no difference to me! She looks the same on the commercial for the “Before After”. I do not know why they are promoting that stupid Jenny Craig diet**

  26. Dee | 31/07/07

Diets fail 95% of the time. I don’t know why people bother, they should just keep a healthy lifestyle. It’s better to be fit and fat then yo yo dieting all your life.

  27. Fiona | 31/07/07

C´mon!!! Kirstie has a gorgeous face and always had.

3 years ago I lost 4 members of my family, and my dog and my cat and I was terribly depressed, I stayed in bed for more thazn a year and I gained 55 pounds, I followed LA weight loss that basically teach me eat properly and lost all the weight in a heatly way and without having hunger, so I feel that all those programs work nicely if a person is disciplined,

  28. Mike | 31/07/07

I think Jenny Craig is no different than any of the other commercial weight loss plans. If you stick to it, it will work for you.

  29. Ashly | 1/08/07

She looks fine for someone of her age. A little big but not horribly obese.

  30. Edan | 1/08/07

    Thanks, skbtch!
I just feel like it couldn’t hurt but boob-to-knee underwear is a little scary in my opinion.
    Thanks for the advice!

  31. loulou | 3/08/07

I know 2 people who have lost weight through the Jenny Craig program and have maintained it for years. It’s a matter of finding a program that fits your personality and preferences.

  32. Mims | 5/08/07

She’s got a lot of natural curves. And she’s bending over a bit. She looks fine. Not thin, but dangerously overweight. Just…normal. Can’t we be happy with normal anymore?

  33. Susan Suszka | 9/08/07

when did you all become God??? You must really have sad, pathetic lives to sit here and ridicule someone who is trying to improve themselves. Its none of any of your’s business how heavy or how thin Valerie Bertinelli is. It did not cost you one thin dime for her to gain weight, so its none of your concern. Leave her alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  34. Mike | 10/08/07

It’s just like any other diet. You have to stick with it.

  35. Joanna | 12/08/07

That “diet disaster” article is ridiculous. One bad picture, and suddenly everyone thinks the diet didn’t work at all. Everyone takes bad pictures, especially when in bathingsuits. And even in that picture, she still looks thinner than she used to. Give her a break - she’s a smart, talented, and beautiful woman who is accomplishing a lot with her dieting recently, which is something many Americans should try to emulate, rather than attack.

  36. FW | 15/08/07

I’m more interested in the Jessica Simpson lipo story.

  37. Cynthia Davidson | 18/08/07

I think you are a bunch of utterly disgusting losers.

  38. Jeanette Tagliaferro | 23/08/07

I just met Valerie @ A Jenny Craig center and let me tell you she looks beautiful. She has followed the program and has a great body. So for those who read the tabloids, there all lies. Valerie you look great and more power to you.
