Fiona Apple Candids
The extremely beautiful and talented Fiona Apple was spotted in Charlotte, NC just a couple of days ago. Despite the fact that she is not wearing make-up in these photos, I think she still looks gorgeous.
Fiona is another celebrity who once suffered from an ED when she was in her early teens. Although she starved herself, she claimed not to suffer from Anorexia. More on her story can be found here.
In any case, she looks pretty healthy these days!

She doesn’t look very happy, though. I’m guessing she’s gained a bit lately. After you suffer from anorexia, many of the feelings linger there, and when you gain weight, you wear baggy clothing, no makeup and that same facial expression she’s got on right now. I really hope Fiona doesn’t relapse.

I love these long dresses…..and her shoes are cute but she should left the socks at home….I do remember her when she came out with her first album and she said she had an eating disorder which stemmed from being raped.

Well the one arm I can see does not look too skinny at all I don’t know where some of you are coming from. She hasn’t been too thin for a long time now.

wow, what a treat to see fi on this site! I absolutely love her and will be seeing her next week! I can’t tell with the dress she has on now but I think that more recently (or at least 1 - 2 years ago) she was looking healthier, softer, and rounder than back in her “tidal” days (which would be when the criminal video came out, what most people know her for). She was frightfully thin back then.. too thin in my opinion.. but now she looks great.
She’s always had that old lady type style to her with long skirts but that’s just her and I for one think she is not only amazingly beautiful but one of the most talented musicians and singers in a long time! Thanks!

Hm. I’d love to hear what she has to say about “starving herself” but not suffering from Anorexia, but the link doesn’t seem to be working.
She looks much better here than she did when she first came out (talk about skeleton files). Still, it’s hard to really tell what she looks like in that outfit although her arms look pretty healthy.
Too bad she is lacking in the talent department (I couldn’t even get through her last album, which I got as a gift).

Perhaps she looks so tired because she’s touring right now. I saw her in concert last week and she was very thin, but not unhealthy looking. Not the skinniest she has ever been at all. She looked great, healthy and happy then. If you don’t think she’s talented, it’s probably because your vocabulary isn’t large enough for you to understand most of her songs. All of her albums have been named Album of the Year by multiple publications, her style is always evolving and her lyrics are brilliant. Oh, and she has an amazing voice, great range, and can play the piano. If you don’t like her style that’s fine but saying she is lacking in talent is just plain ignorant.

Wow. I don’t consider myself to be “ignorant” at all and actually, I have a degree in creative writing and doubt there is problem with my “vocabulary” or understanding of complex lyrics.
I DO, however, have an opinion. Perhaps my working was off and I should simply have said, “I am not a fan of her music”. I liked some of the first album but the last one I found to be redundant, boring and simply unbearable. Every song sounded the same to me. So sorry I insulted your dear Fiona.

On the link listed about celebs with eating disoders, Fiona said she def had an eatingdisorder but was frustrated b/c everyone thought she had anorexia. She didn’t make much sense, but she added that her depression was a response to being raped at the age of 12 and re response was to lose all ties to her body.
Anyway, I think she looks a little thin but who can tell with her baggy clothes.

I agree with you, about her comment about her eating disorder. I didn’t read it until after I initially posted, but as much as I love her- what she described is anorexia. She described it as a way to have control in her life when she fely she had no other control and as you mentioned a coping mechanism for her trauma. As I said, I love her but it sounds like she definitely did suffer from anorexia.

bre and andrea224- I might be splitting hairs here, but I think there is a difference between the two. I am naturally volumptous, (large chest), and self starved, for several years, for exactly the same reason. At the size of an eleven year old, I attracted very little attention from men, (lots from women, but I wasn’t scared of them!), and felt incredibly safe. The difference is probably academic-no doubt it is at least disordered eating, if not an eating disorder, but I never met the diagnostic criteria for anorexia, and I don’t think the I had the degree of fear of food that I’ve read about anorexics suffering. To some degree, I was also able to “control” the situation- I didn’t miss a day of work, etc. Clearly the control issues, self esteem issues etc overlap. (Also the tendancy to relapse) It seems though that it was more about my body- not wanting the same body as that had happened too, and being desperate to protect myself - than it seems to be with anorexics. What I wanted WASN’T perfection, and I had clear insight of that throughout.
I did seek expert help, and the diagnosis wasn’t annorexia, but non experts- family/collegues/friends and many perfect strangers “diagnosed” annorexia, very vocally.
I don’t reckon she had annorexia.
