Rachael Ray Has Put On A Few
August 9th, 2007 by Rian | Filed under Celebrity Weight Gain, Miscellaneous Celebrities. You may remember that the National Enquirer reported last month that Rachael Ray packed on something like 23 pounds. I figured they were exaggerating as usual.
However, some new candids of Rachael from earlier this week have been found, showing that yes, she has indeed gained a few (or more) pounds. Rachael is seen here serving some customers in a NYC restaurant.

What do you all think? I can’t say I’m a fan, but I have watched her a few times in the past and I recall her being a bit slimmer.

FIRST FIRST FIRST
i love her!!!!!!!!!!
she looks pretty in the face, yeah shes a big lady but i still love her
Eh, it doesnt matter either way.
She looks great and healthy.
she looks normal and healthy, especially for someone who is always making and tasting new foods
She looks like her normal self. She is always on the bigger side. But that is the way it should be. It would be weird if she lost a bunch of weight.
I think she would look better if she lost some weight.
I don’t think she’s healthy. I doubt my doctor would consider her healthy. My doctor uses BMI.
She’s certainly not fit.
her arms look a lot bigger than they usually are on her show and her hips do too. i think its safe to say she has definitely put on a few. but i dont think she looks too bad
I don´t think that her BMI is too big as Joelle meant. She´s not skinny, but definitly not fat, look at her belly, she still has a silhoutte and is not just a package of fat. I find her cute.
most women in america are bigger than this
I remember her as being WAY thinner. Nevertheless, she still got a glow to her and manages to look great with the ekstra weight on.
Nah, she looks the way she normally does.
A few pounds or not, she still looks great. I would love to eat like her and look like that.
it obvious she gained some weight. she’s not a fat cow or anything, but she looked a lot better smaller. she’s still pretty though.
she looks nice
who ever she is
Actually, BMI guidelines are pretty strict. Those who have experience with BMI will most likely agree with me. BMI is stricter than Body Fat Percentage.
I have BMI of 22%. According to BMI, I’m “normal weight.” I’m a size 4 petite.
According to BMI guidelines, 25% is the beginning of “overweight.”
Clearly to me, Rachel is at least 25%, if I’m 22%. I think she may be much beyond 25%, maybe in the “obese” range of BMI which starts at 30%. Again, I’m using myself as a reference when I look at Rachel, and I’m much smaller than she is.
Like I said, BMI is strict. It’s what my doctor uses, and I try to follow it.
I love RR. If you watch the very first season of her show to now, yeah, she’s chunked up a LOT
She has definitally gained, you can see it in her arms and thighs for sure; but then agian, she’s a chef!
Always question a skinny person who is making your food.
Nah, I think she looks the same as usual. Her clothes on her talk show are just really flattering.
WHO CARES!? She’s a chef! She cooks and tastes food for a living.
she’s so cute!! luv her!
Joelle, I don’t think BMI is measured in percentages.
Rachel Ray looks okay. I have no idea what she looks like on a regular basis, though, because I don’t watch her show.
If she’s fine with her weight, I suppose that’s all that matters. Though, in my opinion, she’s a bit overweight.
This woman is so annoying, and her weight has nothing to do with it. She is not healthy, she is overweight. She has huge arms, huge hips and a overly roundish face. While she might not be as huge as regular, everyday women are, she is definitely too big for “celebrity status”. She’s probably around 5′4 and weighs at least 160. So stop trying to cut her slack, but saying she “looks okay”. She needs to lose at least 20 lbs to look “okay”
Dude, a BMI measurement ain’t a percentage, it’s a ratio.
Ive watched a few episodes of her 30 minute meals back to back and she looks like a different person each time. I think she has some yo-yo weight going on. However, she is obviously not obese, she still has a normal, healthy “shape” regardless of whether or not it expands a little. I think some people on here are overly harsh. We have no idea what is going on with her (I know she’s going through a divorce) and I know personally, I’ve gained a few pounds when under stress. Cut her some slack.
I actually *do* think she looks okay, and I’m one of the people here who prefers thinness and muscles a la Kelly RIpa. For some reason the bit of chunk she’s got going on doesn’t bother me that much. The one or two times I saw her in passing on a talk show or something, though (not her own), I found her irritating.
I’m sorry, Joelle, but if your doctor relies on the BMI index, he/she is an idiot. The BMI is an exceedingly imperfect tool for measuring health. It does not take into account age, gender, body fat %, or ethnicity (yes, it matters!).
She may have gained, but she’s still glowing! I love her!
She’s definately plump! I remember reading that she is a size 6. Size 6 my ass….more like a size 10 or 12. I do agree that she needs to lose weight.
yeah, she’s gained a few…but I imagine it would be near impossible to stay thin when your whole career is focused on cooking and eating! Great smile.
she looks the same from the show… but i wouldnt’ be surprised if she had gained, did you guys see the kind of food she makes? It’s always some kind of a burger, pasta or nachos.
Btw is that story with her husband true? Is she really getting a divorce…
man she is looking fine. That soft, curvy body, and those thick thighs and of course that butt are looking mighty tasty. Her huge mouth and loud personality is kind of a turn on as well.
*excuse the numerous misuse of are and is, I just woke up
Rachael’s weight is up one minute and down the next. I think she’s a little nutty but I like her none the less. I agree that your BMI alone isn’t a very good gauge. It doesn’t take into account if the weight is muscle or fat. To get an accurate account of your body I think you need to have your body fat measured by a professional.
Jade -contradict yourself much? We have know idea what’s going on with her but YOU know she is going through a divorce? I’ve never heard that outside of some outrageous tabloid stories that I don’t believe for a second. I’m pretty sure it’s just a rumor.
I love her!! She’s so upbeat and cheerful. I’ve definitely seen her thinner than this at times but her weight seems to fluctuate. She’s pretty short too.
Overstuffed sausages DO NOT look healthy.
She looks good could look better but looks good……. Before she became famous she was soooo tiny and she did not look as cute in the face… And by tiny I mean tiny like a size 2…….
You guys, who are we to say she needs to lose weight? She is the first one to tell you that she will never be skinny and does not want to be….whoever said she is unhealthy is clearly an idiot. Unhealthy is when you eat garbage all day and don’t get off your ass. This woman is busy, hard working, and clearly not lazy. She is in front of cameras all of the time, and is obviously comfortable enough with herself to not starve herself. Give her a break for looking like, what appears to me, at a little above a normal weight. I would say she is most likely a size 10…so what?? That makes her obese?
I think she looks like a Fatsy Patsy. Her arms look terrible! She’s totally annoying, so it’s very satisfying to see her looking her chunky.
anybody calling her overweight needs a serious reality check.
She doesn’t look tiny. She looks like she eats. She cooks!
Aside from that - weight alone does not make somebody healthy or unhealthy. There are many skinny people who are not healthy, and many heavy people who are - and vice versa.
She has definitely put on a good 15 lbs. I used to watch “30 minute meals” and although Rachel was never skinny, she always had a lean physique.
A little too plump for my taste….but I’d still do her!
Size 10? I’d say more like 14.
I am 5′7 158 pounds and my bmi is 24.7. I wear a size 8 and I think that Rachel is certainly not overweight, nor obese on the BMI scale. I work out 5-6 days a week and have a lot of muscle which accounts for the heavier weight.
She has gained. Her personality annoys me. I sound like a broken record when I say that.
I freakin love tim jones.
With that said, I think she has put on a few, but she still looks fantastic. She’s not kelly ripa as jodi said, but shes at a great weight for her body type. I can’t see her as super skinny.
If she would just exercise…..it would do wonders for her! Rachel as much has your eating you also need to BURN IT OFF! You can tell she never breaks a sweat…her arms are VERY flab
I personally don’t like Rachael Ray; she’s got a loud,
obnoxious voice and personality. She’s probably gained about 15 extra pounds; but since she eats and
cooks all the time it’s bound to happen!!
Who is this girl? Never heard of her ( I’m European)
She looks a bit chubby to me… I’m not familiar with US sizes, but I’m 6ft tall, 141 pounds, I dunno what size that would be over there. Here I’ve got a perfectly normal size, not big, not small.
I think she looked better when she was smaller.
I’ve watched her show a few times and I like her,
but she made Caesar Salad with Cheese Ravioli Croutons.
hello, CHEESE RAVIOLI are NOT croutons!
No wonder she gains weight.
Well she’s hardly in the ‘unhealthy’ category, but I’d say it is a step in the wrong direction for her. Before she was at a really healthy, normal weight. Now she just looks 15-20 pounds more than that…not a world class tragedy, but definetly less ideal than before.
Regardless I can’t stand her voice, cooking style or obnoxious hand gestures.
You should post on Giada from Food Network instead, she’s way cuter and a much better cook
She’s on the road to becoming Mama Paula from the Food Network. Each year she appears to pack on 15lbs or so. Anyway, I love me some Mama Paula! This obnoxiously, loudmouthed, wannabe hipster not so much.
Some people are born to be chubby, she’s one of them.
I feel fortunate in that I’m not that way. She still looks good.
Ha, Joelle. You must be new around here. Believe me, there’s been plenty of discussion about BMI on these pages before, so I think most of us know what you’re talking about. And I’m going to have to disagree with you about BMI measurements being “stricter” than Body Fat Assessment. You can’t attempt to measure your body fat ONLINE like you can with BMI. What does that tell you?
And like 2perfect said, BMI doesn’t take into account a person’s lean muscle mass, which can make it less accurate.
With that said, I suppose I should talk about the real issue at hand here: Rachel Ray.
Man. I tried to get through watching an entire one of her shows a couple weeks ago and it was grueling. One of her guests came on to show her how to “work out” without going to the gym (they used a step stool as equipment) and she complained the entire time! I simply can’t stand her. Her meals are atrocious, her voice is annoying and she loves to hear herself talk.
As for her weight? It really doesn’t bother me. I can’t imagine her ever being skinny and I honestly don’t think she is overweight at this point. She’s 5′3 I believe so even a little bit of weight gain would be noticeable on her frame.
Gawd, why do people use the excuse that she cooks for a living (if you can even call her disgusting meals real cooking) to explain her weight? I’m in the industry as well and I’m not anywhere near overweight, and most of the chefs I know are average in size as well. The stereotype of a fat chef is just that–a steretype.
She looks like she has put on more weight recently but I think she has been at this weight before. If Food Network happens to run episodes of “30 Minute Meals” that are a couple years apart, back to back, you can tell she goes up and down in weight often. She’s even commented on this in an interview, how in every clip they showed she was a different weight and had a different hair color. Give her another year, she’ll probably go back down in weight again.
“So stop trying to cut her slack, but saying she “looks okay”. She needs to lose at least 20 lbs to look “okay”
Yeah, you guys, geez…if we tolerate people with normal bodies, then the emaciated girls who spend their lives at the gym won’t feel special and elite anymore.
God, why do people feel the need to tell us all about their weight and BMI? Insecurity much?
I agree that just because she cooks for a living, doesn’t mean she should be overweight. And yes, she is clearly overweight. In the past she’s been a lot thinner so I don’t think that’s how her body is meant to be.
um she’s not anywhere near obesity.
I think she looks great!! I don’t think she has gained anything. I mean, she is wearing an apron!! Come on, it is not like they are very flattering.
she’s gonna have nerve damage soon–those jeans are beyond too tight for her. Her thighs are probably hurting/tingling right now.
Cute jeans, but she is trying to hide the spare tire with the apron. No-can-do, Rachel!!!
And I agree Anon- just look at Giada!! She is tiny and speicalizes in Italian of all foods!!! ( Lambman, I know you are a fan of hers too!)
She’s not skinny, but she’s still really cute- it’s not like she has a double chin!
Joelle- I have to disagree with you on the whole BMI thing- it’s not strict. I’m 5′7″…for someone my height, you have to be 119 pound- 159 pound range to be considered “normal weight”…not very strict AT ALL.
maybe shes gained weight because she likes to take the short route. like saying e.v.o.o instead of extra virgin olive oil!!! laziness always starts somewhere and for her it starting in her speech.
Karma- I saw that SAME episode! It was pathetic, wasn’t it? She couldn’t even do eight reps without slowing down. The whole time she was loudly interrupting the personal trainer doing the segment.
I defended her weight in a previous post- but there is no defending her annoying personality.
quite chubby, but charming nevertheless.and anyway, she doesn’t look like she has a morphology that could allow her to stay thin naturally..better that than unhappy and restricting, as long as she stays on the healthy side of course.
who is she anyway?
Giada admitted that the only food she eats is the samples of her dishes while filming her show.
I despise the annoying ball of crap that is Rachael Ray but no one is going to stand up to Giada’s anorexia. No one.
to whoever said “a BMI is not a percentage, its a ratio” I would like to let you know that a percentage is a TYPE of ratio, and the BMI is not either one. As for RR, I’ve never thought she was attractive or thin and I’ve been irritated by her as a person ever since she became “famous” but I love all her TV shows and watch them regularly, and if she thinks eating is more important than being thin, good for her.
Joelle, maybe you are confusing body fat percentage and BMI. BMI is not a percentage, it is just an ‘index’.
To give you a general idea, in studies correlating BMI to body fat percentage, a BMI of 18.5-25 corresponds roughly to a body fat percentage of 20%-30% in the average build, non athletic, young female and 10%-20% in the average build, non athletic young male. This is considered an acceptable and healthy range. However, some people may have a BMI which falls outside of 18.5-25 and still have a body fat percentage within the healthy range. Athletes typically have a lower body fat percentage than the numbers above, but often have a high BMI. For them BMI is virtually useless.
BMI is used because it is simple, but that doesn’t make it accurate.
As far as Rachel’s body fat percentage, unless you have a pair of callipers to measure her body fat you cannot tell whether she has too high body fat or not. I would probably guess it’s close to 30%, but probably just within the healthy range and not at an increased risk of health problems unless she gest into the 30%’s.
Another point is that clothes size can’t dictate what your level of body fat is. I’ve known aerobic instructors who wear a US size 10 and have 20%-22% body fat and others women who wear a US size 2 who have body fat percentages of over 30%. Body fat percentage is the percentage of your total body weight that comes from fat and this is not dictated by your dress size or your weight/BMI.
She is such a fat-ass!! HEr voice makes me wanna rip my hair out,BTW.
Hey, you guys know that she’ll lose the weight after her divorce, don’t trip! Any way, yes she was thin (size 6-8) when her show started. But since she has always worked in food (gourmet delis etc.), to say that she gained weight from her show is dumb! By the way you wil never hear her say that she is a trained Chef, she isn’t.
Joelle,
Dont mean to attack you on this…and in Rachael’s case a BMI might not be completely off…but there are problems with BMI
1. It does not factor in muscle- so if you are atheletic, and since muscle weighs more than fat, it automatically considers you higher than you are
2. It does not factor in bone structure- a medium built woman should weigh more than a small built women…and BMI completely ignores this
Thats just two points. So I am not sure if BMI is all that accurate, its just a good measure to get some idea.
As well, Rachael may not be as thin as someone of the ppl on this site, or she may not measure to the ideals of the critics on this site…or that of hollywood, but she is not fat/obese…as u mentioned…she is at a healthy weight, she can lose weight…but at this weight, she is ok, its not hazardous to her health and she looks beautiful…so why make her fit into this hollywood ideal of beauty????
Oh come on! Giada is NOT anorexic–she has NEVER said the ONLY food she eats is the samples she eats on air! She is not filming her shows everyday out of the year, so obviously she has to eat when she’s not filming. Besides, she eats larger portions of everything on that show where she’s travelling around. I’ve read an article where she says she’s 117 lbs. and a size 2–which is NOT that thin at all! She just looks fit and slender to me.
I love Rachael Ray! She’s NOT fat, either. She is built like me: very petite and large-framed. When I was around her size, I was about a size 8 I think. I’d guess that’s what size Rachael is…I’d guess her weight to be around 140 or 145 (she’s 5′3″). So she’s probably at the high end of BMI, but that’s not the only measure of health anyways. She admits that she eats and she even admits that she eats too much and that sometimes she doesn’t eat the most healthy stuff. So she isn’t perfect, so what? I think if she worked out more, she’d have a cute figure.
Oh yeah, Giada deLaurentiis is a lot skinnier, but I swear she only eats 2 bites of anything she makes. But she always uses full fat and full sugar and heavy cream in all her recipes so she gets more satisfied from them. Although, I think Giada is skinnyfat….she is way too soft. My husband thinks she’s weird-looking, lol. Oh, and while you’re on Food Network stars…what about Sandra Lee? She’s like, naturally skinny and she eats (and drinks, lol…she’s all about the cocktails). I think Sandra’s really tall though…like 5′10″ or so. I HATE women that are so tall like that…they don’t have to try as hard to maintain a good weight. Being short sucks
Hey “Poops”, I’d love to see where you got that info about Giada as I can’t even imagine words like that coming out of her mouth (I’m not being mean, I seriously would like to see the quote).
And if you’ve ever watched her travel, like Anon said, you will see her eat all day long. Granted, they don’t film her finishing her meals, but she doesn’t nibble on lettuce and ice water, if you know what I mean. In fact, when she went to Greece, I was amazed at how much she could eat in one day!! She rocks..
And since when is size 2 not small??
Forget it “Poops”. I did the research and found the article myself. While Giada doesn’t “only eat what she samples during the show”, she basically practices something that you find people doing less and less of these days - PORTION CONTROL. She serves herself very small plates of her meals and eats throughout the day (very smart woman). Oh, and she works out 3 times a week with a trainer in addition to taking long walks on the beach
she looks okay. she doesn’t have a ton of fat on her face, you can still see her jaw. she doesn’t look overweight, higher healthy weight but not fat.
Karma: What I said was that a modern day size 2 is not terribly, sickeningly small. I’m not sayiing that Giada needs to lose weight by any means, but only that she looks pretty fit and slender to me. Modern sizes are so large now that people freak over “size 0″ when in terms of inches, it’s so much larger than vintage clothing. I bought a size 4 dress recently from the 80s and it’s smaller than any size 0 thing I own. My friend is a modern day size 4 but she buys size 14 vintage clothing all the time.
She’s a very fat little piglet.
Wow Anon. I knew that dress sizes had changed over the years, but that’s insane. I’m a little confused though- how come your vintage 4 is smaller than a modern size 0, but your friend’s vintage 14 is as big as a size 4??
i think it’d be hard to be a chef [and have your own food tv show] and stay thin. well, sandra lee does it, but she’s a whole different story, haha.
Rachael has definitely put on weight… i used to love her on 30 minute meals — before she became too *huge* and was everywhere you turned.
I love Giada too — she’s actually put on a tiny bit of weight since her show first started — she usd to be way smaller. I’ve actually seen her in person and she is stunning in person! the most amazing eyes i’ve ever seen — tv doesn’t do her justice. but she’s my food network hero since she’s gorgeous and makes the food look so good and she’s still small! her recipes are much better than rachael’s too. can you tell I watch food network?
I don’t know why folks feel a need to defend msray. It’s as if a critcism of her is a personal attack at them; it’s not.
She’s fat. Simple. And, so what? It’s not the end of the world. She can lose weight.
Karma: It’s because my “vintage 80s” dress was from the 80s, when sizes were already getting larger, and my friend prefers to buy stuff from the 1940s, when sizes were much smaller than they were in the 1980s. =)
First of all someone called Rachael a chef she isn’t a chef and lately she is barely a cook.
She has got to have one of the oddest figures I have ever seen. Look at the pictures and she has the beginnings of a pot belly. She needs to put the wine and beer down and drink water instead. And if she gained weight well look how she cooks. Her meals have way too much oil and salt in them. One recipe she did, she fried bacon in olive oil. Who in their right mind does that. The rate she is going they will be able to use her as a Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Float.
“She looks healthy”? No she doesn’t. I’m not saying she’s fat, because she’s not, and I personally think curves are beautiful, BUT anyway, all she is is a pile of pudge from too much cheese and meat. Her 30 Minute Meals are a heart attack waiting to happen.
This is particularly ironic because RayRay is always proudly proclaiming how “healthful” and “figure friendly” her food is. I think they should suck out all the fat and either:
A. Put it in her breasts.
B. Give it to Robin Miller.
It’s a win/win situation!
Seems like she has gained a lot indeed, I think she might indeed weigh too much.
But, her face looks really good and healthy, not the unhealthy, grey look of someone who lives on fast food.
I think she’s healthy, not skinny at all but healthy. I don’t think she’s fat…I hate it when people like her who are normal get called “fat” just because they don’t fit the “Hollywood size 00 standard” She’s not an anorexic, coke snorting Hollywood star…she’s a refreshing normal looking woman!
She is not a chef. Just watching her butcher and mangle ethic cuisines and American dishes is all the evidence you need. She is not one of us. She’s a hack, a phony, and an insult to the true chefs and cooks who have trained and worked hard honing their craft for years. She wouldn’t know a healthy or delicious meal even if it bit her on her more than ample ass!
It’s a wonder she’s not thinner. She must be resistant to salmonella and E-coli. Any who cross contaminates a kitchen as much she does would be rail thin from all the screaming shits!
What she does to food, Hitler did to Poland, France and the rest of Europe.
OOPS! I meant ethnic!
true chef you are a funny one!
She is not a chef. All you Rachael lovers don’t know her to well. If you did, you wouldn’t say she is a chef. She is a cook and that is debatable.
She may not be big as a house, but if she keeps using cheese and olive oil and other fattenning things, she will be. Right now she is a fat Petunia Pig.
I came back to see if my comment was left….it wasn’t. Apparently voicing your opinion about people’s bodies is okay, but expressing how it angers you is not.
Karen- did you read the **Please Note: Your comment may take a few moments to show up. Please do not submit your comment more than once! Thank you.**” ??
It takes a while for comments to post. Sometimes hours. Chill out and check again later.
RR herself recently said that she was going to devise a cooking plan (probably similar to her Atkins-inspired book from 2005 when she had to slim down for her wedding), to lose 15 lbs. before she resumed show taping in mid-August. I’d say compared to those pics of her at the Daytime Emmys where she looked like a Macy’s Thanksgiving Day float, she’s lost maybe 10, but still has a way to go.
She went on to say she was going to try and lose another 15 lbs once her show resumed taping. The article had her estimated weight at the Emmys at 155, and her “looking good” weight around 140. She’s very big boned (get a look at those paws that pass for hands), so I would imagine at 5′3″, her “slender” weight would be around 130.
And given she’s wearing desinger labels these days, that’s still going to put her in around an 8-10 (they don’t generally vanity-size like the Gap or whoever made her snapcrotch tops of yore).
She’s also almost 39 years old, and has the worst body type for losing weight once perimenopause hits (I know…I share it). I was 38 when I had to start working out 4-5 days a week just to maintain. She really needs to consider a personal trainer.
Yeah, Rachael Ray admits that she is not a chef. She didn’t go to cooking school (it shows, but whatever…I didn’t go to cooking school either). She tries not to intimidate people with her recipes, but I don’t think I could make any of her food in 30 minutes because I don’t have half the food prepped for me in advance.
I love Giada’s recipes though…now SHE’s a real chef. She adapts complicated recipes for average people too and I think hers work out better. And anyone who uses Nutella as much as she does is a good cook in my book.
If you’re going to pick on fat chefs, what about Paula Deen and the Barefoot Contessa? They’re both beyond curvy and they both eat like linebackers.
You people are crazy! If she is considered fat we are all doomed! Maybe she should get skinny like Angelina and Nicole then we can bitch about how skinny and unhealthy she is and tell her to go eat a burger. Leave her be.
I have to say that I can’t stand Racheal Ray. She’s loud, annoying and has no right to be making money from the buisness of food since she clearly knows nothing about it.
That being said though, I hardly think she’s fat. She looks perfectly normal. Rail-thin a la Nicole Ritchie/La Lohan, etc, should not be considered the height of beauty. razor-sharp shoulder blades should be feared, not aspired to.
(And no, I’m not a fat girl. I’ve got legs that wold blow your mind. I just don’t think size 2= beauty and health).
…sorry about the spelling errors. I was typing fairly quick.
She must be sampling a little too much of her work.
She looks preggers to me
Come on people, Rachel Ray is what, 37 or 38 years old? She has a WOMAN’s body as she should. How many people do you know in their late thirties that don’t look like that?? She’s normal and fine just the way she is.
I had no idea she was in her late 30’s, she looks about 25 in these pictures!
Paula Deen and Ina Garten don’t call themselves chefs nor are they referred to as such. They also don’t make the ridiculous claims about their dishes being healthy as does your supreme diety and whack goddess Rachael. They use butter and are proud of it! The only comment I made about her weight was in reference to her ass. I don’t give a shit about her size and I never thought her to be particularly attractive. Nor have I thought that about Paula Deen or Ina Garten either. It’s her claims about her “food” being healthy that I and many others are annoyed about.
Her claims about it being delicious are subjective. In my opinion, anyone with a functioning palate with functioning taste buds, would hardly call the dreck she makes delicious. For example, can someone tell me since when is sauerkraut an acceptable substitute for kimchi, as she did in an episode where she mutilated Korean cuisine? Kimchi is readily available in any Asian market and most all megamarts these days if you’re not inclined to make your own.
Her recipes also call for 10 or more ingredients. The time it takes to go to your grocery store to get them kills more than 30 minutes right there. If I’m making something with that extensive of an ingredient list, the finished dish will have taken much more than 30 minutes to complete and taste a whole lot better.
There are plenty of websites one can go to and enter her “recipes” and get a nutritional breakdown for the entire dish and each portion. People have done this and the results are frightening. While olive oil is generally healthy, one bottle per recipe is not and neither is nearly a pound of shredded cheese.
In today’s litigious society, I’m just surprised that no one has yet hired an ambulance chaser to sue her for making them fat or ruining their health resulting from a steady diet of her messipes.
BMI isnt always correct. I work out a low and have a lots of muscles, but i just look toned, and althought ive lost body fat, but BMI has risen
Rachel Ray is a goddess. Again this website is being intolerant of someone who is on the opposite side of the scale of being normal. She is within normal weight limits. She is not fat by any means. Millions of guys would love to have there arms around her, ( me first please!!!) Just start looking for the really fat, and skinny people to tear down if you must.
I still think she has a cute face.
I have to agree with what a few of you said… I can’t believe you’re calling her “fat”. She’s an average sized American WOMAN. She may be “fat” by Hollywood standards but she is not “fat”. I think most of you who say that are just so used to criticizing anorexic stars on this web site… so anyone bigger than the skeleton stars would be “fat”. No wonder women turn go through deathly, unhealthy extremes to lose weight because people are calling Rachel Ray “fat”. Look at Paula Deen or Ina Garten - I love them to death but THEY are fat…
By the way, Rachel Ray has said many times, that she’s not a “chef”. She looks pretty damn good considering how much she cooks and actually EATS when she’s travelling around the world.
Damn, then 60% of women in the U.S. are FAT because they’re all even bigger than Rachel Ray.
WE”RE ALL FAT ASSES UNLESS WE LOOK LIKE NICOLE RICHIE OR LINDSAY LOHAN…. that sums up everyone’s opinion here.
you’d be fat too, if you were pitching DONKEN DOHNUTS and had the company sent you unlimited supply of their product. A perfect reason to stay away from that junk!
I normally don’t have time to read every single comment, but since the lack of new posts I have kept up reading the new comments.
My favorite comments are the ones that brag about how hot the poster is. Like “I am a friggin’ babe- a perfect 10, so I can be critical.” Or “I’m not fat- and I haven’t eaten meat for 6 years.” Or “I don’t have cellulite, but I have a friend that does.” Or “I am 5′7″ and 103 pounds.”
There are a lot of people on this site trying to prove themselves.
Yeah, she definitely gained a few. But who can blame her, her recipes aren’t exactly “figure friendly”.
Bitch got fat because she got a divorce!
I think she looks gorgeous! But we all need to stop being so shallow and judging people by their weight. There is NO wWAY she is overweight aniway, unless we are comparing her to some skinny-arsed model
But Cate, that’s what this site is for. Without what you complain about, this site would not exist.
She has a great face, just pudgy
she probably gained all the weight from eating her craptastical food. Ick.
To Joelle: We’re talking about Rachel Ray!! Who cares about you and your BMI???!!!!!! H-E-L-L-O!!!
So what if she’s actually got meat on her bones? She’s probably one of the most normal-looking celebrities out there. I’m actually glad to see someone who isn’t stick-thin on TV!
So what if she gained weight? She doesn’t look fat… just voluptuous, and is that a bad thing?! Women are suppose to have curves.
Since when has a size 10 or 12 been considered fat?? That’s insane… it’s only fat for Hollywood standards since most of them fit into clothes that only a doll could wear.
Those who are bashing her saying she’s “fat” have you all looked in the mirror?! Some of you may be a size 4 and at a “perfect” weight according to their doctor’s BMI measurments but that doesn’t mean you attractive!
Look at Nigella, she’s obviously not thin but that doesn’t stop men from drooling over her.
Rachael Ray is still pretty, it’s better to be pretty with a few extra pounds than thin and ugly. You can lose weight but there are some things you can’t change.
Have a nice day!
sorry, forgot to put the ‘are’ between you and attractive!
Will you people leave this poor girl alone? She is cute, cuddly, adorable and sexy. She’s not fat, she’s curvy. Who wants a girl who looks like a “boy with tits”?
Have you seen Courtney Love lately?? She looked better plump…now she looks like death warmed over.
Rachel Ray, Kelly Clarkson, Valerie Bertinelli & Mary Chapin Carpenter are all cutie-pies! Leave them alone!!!
I think (as most of my friends think) she is a hottie and a few pounds haven’t hurt that. She is a real woman, not a Barbie and she can cook. Of course she’s going to eat. Ya’ll need to go pick on somebody else. Leave RR alone.
Thanks gang,
Charles
I’d prefer reading in my native language, because my knowledge of your languange is no so well.
