This looks SO unhealthy! Her wrists looks twiggy, her head while not big… looks big perched atop that extremely thin neck. You can see much too well her tendons in the legs and arms.

I actually prefer Renee Z. super-skinny. I hated her all soft and squishy and downright fat in the Bridget Jones movies. She was perfection in “Chicago”.

She’s not a pretty woman, but she certainly looked better in Chicago. I think this happens to be a particularly horrible picture of her. I do prefer lean to the chunky look. She is unfortunate not to have an attractive face in my opinion. The dress is awful, and I can’t really tell how thin she is or isn’t in it.
I agree with Golden. When you get to a weight this low it’s about issues deeper than a dress size. And asiangirl, you can still have breasts when you’re skinny if you were full-breasted to start. A friend of mine was a size six with 38C breasts. Now at a vanity zero, they’re 34C, still bigger than many women but small for her. If she became underweight, I’m sure they’d continue to get smaller, but propotionately.
Maybe these people have body dysmorphic disorder, so they can’t see that they are too skinny already and continue to lose more weight only to look ghastly to us normal people.

Holy cripes, when did she get this thin?? I remember when she got almost this thin for Chicago, but I think she looks better when she is about a size 6 or so. She’s a bit too heavy for her frame when she’s at her Bridget Jones weight, but a little less than that is ideal for her.
Obfuscated that is really what anorexia is, it is just an extention of body dysmorphic disorder that leads to drastic attempts to lose weight….much the same as a dysmorphic who thinks their nose is too big takes drastic action to make it smaller with multiple surgeries.

I like Renee very much, but it must be torture to stay this small if it’s not your natural weight. It doesn’t help her ego when her face remains round instead of sculpted and chiseled like athletes’ or most skinny people’s faces are.

Let’s not forget that the camera ADDS ten pounds. From what I’ve heard, even Beyonce who clearly has meat on her bones looks quite “petite” in person (I know a couple of people who’ve seen her in person, and they both said she looks “petite” and nothing at all like she does in her pictures - much smaller, more compact.) Imagine what Renee looks like in person! It gives me the chills.

I think she has a very attractive face, certainly more beautiful than the ordinary likes of Lindsay Lohan, Kelly Ripa, Kate Hudson, all these people off ‘the hills’ etc who I have no idea who they are to name just a few.

Or maybe she loses weight when she’s filming or on tour, or prepping to film.
I heard a rumor once that she was severely bulimic. I hope not. That’s a terrible illness to have. If she does have an eating disorder, or emotional issues that manifest itself through her weight, I hope she can seek private help.

When you have an eating disorder (which I would bet it all on the fact that Ms. Z has one), it has nothing to do with looking good anymore. The sufferer never thinks they look good, and even want to be sick because that validates their efforts. Eating disorders are not about looks, they are psychological illnesses.
And to all of you who immediately assume she is bulimic because of her “swollen” face, she has always had a very round face with large cheeks. I’m not saying that she’s not bulimic, I’m just pointing out that her face is naturally puffy looking. I would even surmise that that could be a reason for her ED. She never sees herself as thin enough because her face always seems “fat.”

It’s unrealistic to expect a busy woman to exercise to the specific extent that she was for that movie, but she looked curvaceous, rock hard, and feminine all at the same time. A UK size 10 is not big, don’t be ridiculous. Besides it isn’t about your dress size it is more about your body proportions. A perfeclty proportioned size 12 can look much better than a disproportionate size 8 or 10.

When I was 19 and had a nervous breakdown and could barely eat, I looked like this. It took years to get healthy. Now I am 50 and have a host of medical problems-including, acid refux , heart disease, osteoporosis, and decaying teeth. Starving ones self does not pay!

I think Renee looks better thin. In Bridget Jones her face had no definition between Chin & Neck. I also happen to think she is attractive. She has character and is a good role model. This is a lovely, talented actress who deserves more than she is receiving on this site. Some of you should remember “there but for the grace of God, go I.” Let us remember her in our prayers and hope that she rids herself of whatever demons are eating at her. And for the righteous who think they know everything about everyone, go and volunteer to do something for the needy and leave this poor soul and others like her alone.
She didn’t look good before the weight loss. She looks worse after the weight loss. I can’t understand how anyone thinks this bizarre looking woman is attractive.
This photo has been altered. Look at the shadows behind her neck and the way her left knee intersects with the red background. If you really look at it, your brain will tell you somethings not right.

Personally I think Renee is a beautiful girl, no doubt about it and tremendously talented in addition. Nobody could have done any of her roles any better than she did. She is unique.
Aside from all that, she is courting death by the looks of her. She was actually not overweight in Bridget Jones. The cameras add pounds and if you had seen her in person at that time she would have appeared slim. If she made a personaly choice to be leaner and she did it in a healthy way, better food, more exercise, she would look better not worse. She appears to have an eating disorder which means she is missing nutrition and wasting away internally as well as externally. I had an eating disorder for a few years while in college many years ago and the only thing that cured it was my trip in an ambulance to the hospital almost at death’s door. I wish better for her. I hope someone can help her see the light before it is too late.

If you think she looks bad, have you seen Holly Hunter in her TV show “Saving Grace”? There are scenes that show her all but naked and you can count her ribs! Especially on her back! Now THAT is disgusting! I’m all for thin, but a healthy thin. Being able to see somone’s skeleton without an x-ray is beyond extreme.

When girls saw how Nicole R. went fro Paris’s donkey, to just a beautiful, when she lost all that weight. Other women/girls said hey maybe If I loose weight I might have a beauitful face too.
Once having an eating disorder I can say her look is very suspicious. It’s about stress and trying to be the best you could……and control. While someone in her condition looks shocking to us…she thinks she has all under control. It’s her way of dealing with things going on in her life. I hope she really looks at herself inside and outside and makes a change.

I feel very sad for these actresses…with all the hype to stay thin and try to stay on top of your profession with all the new people coming in every day, it is cutthroat out there…and weight is something they have control over if nothing else,,,..Yes she is unfortunate to have a chubby face…but that could be fixed with cosmetic surgery, without losing so much weight. in her body…..

You cant judge someone by their clothes size…you can have two people standing next to each other with the same size or weight and one looks way bigger…My friend and I are a prime example…at 126 I look slim, she looks like a balloon..!!!

What’s up with all the negativity here? I’d hazard to guess that the majority of those throwing stones at Rene are overweight and not particularly attractive. Pictures can be deceiving as we all know…some are flattering, but many are not….even if one is physically beautiful. So she’s a little thin right now…so what? She is an attractive woman who is just trying to make it through every day like the rest of us……..compounded by being in the entertainment industry where every little thing about you is constantly critiqued. We all age and we all will change in appearance throughout our lives. That’s just a fact. Inner beauty is far more lasting….try to find some in yourselves.
Renee is my fav actress and I think she tends to fluctuate with weight according to how busy she is or what role she is playing. I agree she is much too skinny here and I prefer her at her Bridget Jones weight myself. I think it was her costar Firth who even was quoted saying he thought she was gorgeous at her higher weights during filming of Bridget. Whatever the case may be ..I wish her continued luck and success …She has remained a honest and caring woman all through out her film career and more people should lead by example. God Bless..

If I were told I had a gain a lot of weight for a part I don’t know what I would do. It is so hard for me to lose weight I would be afraid I would never be the same - like Elizabeth Taylor, who has fought weight problems ever since she had to gain weight for a movie role eons ago.

I think she is okay, if you look at other celeb photos that have admitted eating disorders, their skin is very discolored, their hair does not look healthy and their eyes are sunken in.
