Kate Moss is “Barely Eating”
September 3rd, 2007 by Rian | Filed under Kate Moss, Supermodels.
Kate Moss is reportedly “barely eating” and has lost about 10 pounds in three weeks. Why? According to TMZ, because her ex Pete Doherty has been spotted out and about with another model - Pete’s former girlfriend Irina Lazareanu.
Friends, reports the Daily Mail, are concerned that Kate’s gone out of control after the latest round of battles with on-again off-again trainwreck boy toy Pete Doherty, and she’s more gaunt and sallow than usual.
Kate, say friends, has lost almost ten pounds in the last three weeks — and is barely eating. Imagine — a model not eating!
However, The Daily Mail reports that a “healthy-looking” Kate has been spotted out and about with a new man.
What do you all think? These photos of Kate in Los Angeles are supposedly very recent. I think she looks about the same as she always does - very slim.

first!
1ST FUCK YEAH
Most models eat, and they eat well. Think about it. Your average model is 5′10″ and 120 lbs. 120 lbs is NOT that hard to maintain. If someone were 5′2″ and 120 lbs, you’d be calling them fat and tell them to put down the fork.
It’s very hard to tell in these pictures, but it wouldn’t surprise me if she was reacting to her breakup by not eating.
Purpleplague - do you really believe that 120lbs at 5′10 is easy to maintain?? I beg to differ. According to old standards (which I know are quite dated) a healthy, “normal” weight for a woman 5′10″ is around 150. Yes, you can give or take 10 pounds, but ask any doctor and they will tell you that in most cases, 120 is underweight for that height.
I also believe that most people who have been underweight will tell you that it isn’t, in fact, “easy” to maintain at all. Then again, I also know that there are people who are “naturally thin” who might not have a problem staying a size 2 their whole lives.
I just think it’s too big of a generalization to say that all models eat well, or can easily maintain their weight. I guess your comment caught me off guard..
its her job not to eat as much as her body requires (well the recommended daily amount for an adult female) because she would get bigger and therefore won’t be much of a supermodel, loving the handbag%)
She looks about the same as she has in the past. I don’t really see a 10 pound weightloss.
A 10 pound weight loss on this girl would be complete emaciation. She definitely hasn’t lost that.
Karma, I never said it wasn’t underweight, it definitely is, but it still isn’t incredibly hard to maintain if you have a decent metabolism.
I have been very underweight in the past, and the only reason it was hard to maintain, was because of my horrible relationship with food where I would binge/starve/binge/starve/etc.
I also did not say that all models eat and eat well, I said most.
I agree! she looks the very same to me. She probably lost those 10 pounds of coke that Pete took away with him, because I don’t see any noticeable weight loss
purpleplague -true”the models don’t eat” is a myth. runway models are really tall and they eat. I knew one. majority are growing teenagers who can eat whatever they want until the hips don’t grow… Kate Moss is around 5′7, 5′6 though.
she looks the same.
To respond to comments above. 120 lbs for a 5′10 woman Is hard to maintain (and to achieve for that matters). I am 5′10 and never was 120 lbs. except when I was a child of course. Women that tall who weight 120 are starving themselves and that’s for sure.
she’s beautiful as ever and it’s surely naturally skinny…jessica alba is a loser, she never will be like kate moss, stop to try! many models who are 175cm weight 45-50 kg, but they are models not common people!
My question is; how many models eat properly?
a top model is naturally very thin and if she eats 1300-1400-1500 cal a day she can stay so thin…and eat 1300-1500cal is not starving…
and then models are paid for their skinny body,it’s their choice…
5ft10 and 120lb is UNDERWEIGHT. I’m 5ft2, 120lb and I have 24% body fat which is considered to be ideal for a female.
Your comment was offensive purpleplague.
Purpleplague - I understand now.
But I guess my point is that it all depends on the person. I personally don’t know many women who are “naturally” thin. For me to stay at my desired weight I have always had to work hard for it. I just think that a lot of models have to do the same. Then again, I could be completely wrong.
An average female should be eating close to 2000 calories a day………a 5ft10 women living off 1300-1,500 calories is not getting enough nutrients and probably losing muscle mass, not healthy and it is slowly destroying their muscle mass, which is why they end up weighing so little.
In my experience, the hard part is actually getting down to the thin weight to begin with - once you are there, if you eat only when truly hungry and stop when you are content and get daily exercise, maintaining is possible.
I just find it odd how models have to have “nice” bodies but their faces don’t have to look decent
purpleplague- I think what you said about maintaining is very true, but only for a healty weight. To be able to keep a desired weight that is way below healty you have to do more extreme actions… starve yourself, use drugs…
bella - you can never be 175cm tall have a 45kg weight and be HEALTHY - that´s much (!) too skinny for a model!
Not true. I am 4′11″, 19 years old, am rather sedentary, and can maintain 79 lbs (a BMI of 16) on 1500 calories a day. That is definitely not starving for a person my height, age, and weight.
And I don’t do drugs.
Yeah, Mike, I do too. But their bodies are supposed to be hangers to model clothes..their faces only have to be semi-attractive.
Definitely looks about the same.
well kate moss looks about the same to me. now i am 5′7 1/2 nearly 5′8 and i weight 115 its fairly easy to stay here but it was hard to get here.
can you tell me how tall 5´8 is and how much kilos 120 are?
5 10 and 120 lbs is hard to maintain! Im 5′8 and 130 and can find that hard to maintain!
when you have a normal appetite, 120 is easy to maintain.
i’m about 5′7″ and was 120 for a while, until they gave me some kind of medication that made my appetite increase. i’m 140 now, but if i got off these medications, i’d go right back to 120.
most models have really good metabolisms. very few of them starve.
Kate Moss, at one time was listed at 105 pounds, but for several years she has been about 117.
Let’s say that with 30 minutes of moderate exercise, (burning 400 calories) and if she eats 1800 calories a day she stays the same.
3500 calories equal one pound.
If she starts exercising 45 minutes a day, (burning off 600) and cuts her calories to just 1500, she will lose about a pound a week. It will be noticable to some after a month, and kind of obvious after 2 and a half months.
If she cuts out the exercise, and has an extra bag of potato chips instead—she will be burning 1500, and eating 2000. She will start gaining a pound a week.
Just examples to show—-these women do not have to starve themselves to start showing a weight loss—and a couple of almost un noticable changes the other direction can start adding a pound a week—There is not a lot of difference between eating 1500 calories and 2000 calories. If they go on an alcohol and fast food binge—-they could quickly add 10 or 15 pounds. Quitting smoking–or cocaine–can make a difference.
Geez. I didn’t mean to start such controversy.
Dee- I don’t think Purpleplague was being offensive at all. She didn’t call anyone “fat”, she just stated the truth. That most people around here are very critical about the number on a scale.
Everyone is different. I bet we could find 10 people here with the same height and weight who wear at least 3 different sizes. Or 10 people who are the same height and size, but of very different weights.
I think it’s just generalizations that tend to cause problems. Saying that models eat or don’t eat is one of them. Some do, and die of anoriexia. Some do drugs (Like good ole’ Kate here), and some don’t even have to watch what they eat.
Also, there is no “average” caloric intake or “average” woman, like you stated. It depends on height, age and lifestyle.
Oops. You know I meant “some don’t, and die of anorexia”..
izzie- top models who are 175cm weight 45-50 kg, I’m sure! one of the skinnier is snejana onopka who is 45 kg for 174-175cm,another is vlada roslyakova who is 48 kg for 178cm…
She’s always the same size. I don’t believe that she lost anything.
many top models are naturally very skinny(many of them are 16,17,18 years old)and also if they eat 1500 cal they stay this thin…2000cal is a high calories diet not normal if you don’t exercise…and 1500 is not straving!!starving is 1000 or less…
izzie-120 pounds are 54-55kg..
I didn’t say that a person who is 5′2″ and 120 is ACTUALLY fat. My mother is that height and weight and she is THIN. However, people on this website are a bit delusioned about weight, and a lot of people here would consider that fat.
Also, a person can definitely get enough vitamins and minerals on 1200 - 1500 calories a day. It depends on what they eat. A person eating 2500 calories a day might not be getting enough vitamins and minerals if all they eat is junk.
I didn’t say that 5′2″ and 120 lbs is fat. I said that a lot of people here would consider that to be fat. If you haven’t noticed, most people here are very delusioned bout healthy weights. My mother is 5′2″ and 120 lbs, and she is thin.
Also, a person may or may not be healthy eating 1200 - 1500 calories a day. It depends on what they eat. Just like how a person eating 2000 - 2500 calories a day isn’t healthy, if all they eat is junk.
sorry - I didn’t see the first comment show up, so I rewrote it.
jed - where did you find that Kate Moss has been 117 for some years? I am the same height as her and fluctuate between 115-118 and am nowhere near as thin looking as she is. Just curious; maybe she just carries it different/better.
Karma, I thought she was implying a 5ft2, 120lb would be fat……I misinterpreted her comments. I agree, people here are way to critical of weight, but that is not a surprise when 50% of people that post are probably pro-ana.
And bella, 2000 calories is the recommended daily intake for a sedentary women, for an very active woman it would be higher. Do you think professional female body builders will eat less than 2000 calories a day, no they don’t.
Yep, I apologise purple plage, I saw I had misinterpreted your comments when Karma pointed it out. You are dead right, some people here think at 5ft2, I should weigh 100lb max! But with over 90lb of lean mass, that would make my body fat under 10% and I would probably be dead or dying!
I agree with Karma. People look different at different heights and weights. People have different metabolisms.
Kate Moss looks the same.
I really don’t care about Kate Moss. The only thing that would interest me was if you she suddenly gained a ton of weight, which isn’t the case. BYW, Kate Moss is only 5′5.5 according to celebheights. I’m 5′5, and I weigh 115. And I sure as hell don’t look boyish like Kate. She looks to be below 110. Maybe like 102 - 106.
The only thing about this story more alarming than Kate’s supposed weight loss is the fact that scuzzy, crack-smoking, syphillis-ridden Pete Doherty manages to snag models for girlfriends. I do not get that at all.
Wishing you a speedy recovery from that greaseball, Kate!
“2000 calories is the recommended daily intake for a sedentary women”
The average woman is 5′6″ and 150 lbs. So yes, for a person that height and weight, who is under 50 years old, could maintain on 2,000 calories a day while being sedentary.
However, if someone is shorter and weighs less, they will need less. Just like if someone is taller and weighs more, they will need more. Etc.
gosh, you guys dont even know eachother, and your yelling at eachother
I’ve seen some recent pictures of Kate where she does look like she’s lost some weight, but this isn’t one of them. I do hope she dumps this guys sorry ass for good. I can’t imagine her attraction to him, but I’m very glad for that!
Maxx05 - I imagine the “attraction” can only be coke related. Drugs will make a person do crazy things, often times making them completely blind to the reality around them (or the people they are hooking up with).
I hope for her sake she ditches that nasty man too.
Her weight loss is likely because of the break up. I’m a thin thin person and, yes, a break up is a #1 reason at least for me to lose weight, that and the death of a loved one. If I’m sad and/or under stress I lose my appetite and can’t stick anything down my throat. I can get to the point of looking scary, but when you’re angry and upset over a death or relationship loss it doesn’t matter to you. Food feels like cement at that point. I’m sure her appetite will return once she gets over this slimeball.
I think she looks the same! She doesn’t look overly thin

Alyssa, are you five years old and clutching a tear-stained teddy bear missing one eye?
I still believe that most models have to eat very little to keep their figure. Maybe they don’t care because they don’t have a big appetite. But they have to be underweight to be booked and it is not natural. Maybe I shouldn’t say they starve themselves, maybe I should say they count their calories in order to maintain an underweight body. All I know is that this kind of body shouldn’t have become an ideal like it has become for so many women.
so how many of you realise that if all women consumed 2000 calories a day, a vast majority of them wouldnt be anywhere NEAR as slim as you expect them to be?
Its amazing how everyone falls for the calories in/calories out farce when its blatantly obvious a lot of other factors come in to someones weight.
I did a search—saw 105 and 107 mentioned, also 115—–most bios list her height at 5′6 or 5′7.
“A couple of years later Kate had gained some weight and the “waif look” had gone, well, out of fashion. Since then she has been firmly established as a supermodel”
She has had 2 different eras of her career—the waif—and the supermodel after she added to her waif weight. 110 seems about right to me—and her weight does fluctuate.
I think it’s very easy to eat 2000 calories a day if you’re eating normally. I eat at least that daily. I’m not a calorie counter, but I have to have at least 3 meals a day plus snacks and desert after dinner so I don’t lose weight. I think if you keep even moderately active this shouldn’t be a problem.
I LOVE being SO skinny!People are jealous….
Why is it that I don’t give a sh*t about her at all?
Maybe Alyssa is amazed people don’t have better things to do with their time than engage in bitter exchanges about calories? Shows sense, I’d say.
Kate always looks good and always seems to be on the thin side but wow! ten pounds in three weeks thats pretty good, she looks just fine.
purpleplague wins for the most comments on one post!! props to her!!
props to kate moss for demonstrating how much everyone who comes to this site knows about height, weight, models, calories and bmi’s!!
Bitter exchanges? We are all here for sh’ts and giggles. Just having some fun, that’s all.
Wow… the picture from behind really shows just how thin she is.
Seriously.
She doesn’t look any different than she has for the last few years. I don’t see any weight loss, but black hides alot.
maxx05, youve said before several times that youre naturally very slim, do you not think this has an effect on your weight management? Your’e lucky that you can eat well, and HAVE to to not loose weight.
Others dont have that luxury if they wish to stay thin. I dont eat more than 2000 calories a day as a rule, I dont count specifically either. Often I know i fall under, sometimes I might go over for various reasons (nice pudding, chocolate cravings, the usual!) Im also an active person, my job involves standing on my feet for 9 hours, lifting and carrying heavy trays. I also run 2 or 3 times a week. But by many peoples standards Im heavy, my bmi is 26 ( not that i think the bmi is any standard to go on), to get it down i would have to seriously constrict my eating. Im not prepared to do that. I consider myself healthy, im not ideally thin by any means, but my body feels right for me.
I just wanted to remind people that normal day to day living, without a constricting diet does mean people will still be ‘overweight’ there are many, MANY other women out there like me.
Are we really supposed to be shocked or suprised by Kate Moss being super thin and not eating? Suprise suprise, it’s difficult to maintain an ultra-low weight. C’est la vie pour Kate and models of the world.
Looks slim as ever to me, and I absolutely love her pants. I’m a Moss fan though, so I must say I’m biasted.
I eat like that and my BMI is 15. For those who don’t know, I’m 43 years old. I just had a physical a couple of weeks ago, and everything in in perfect order. I get physicals done every year, at my age ( eye roll - LOL ) you should!
I will definitely give you points for patience, Apricotmuffins!!!! One job I knew I never was cut out for was waitressing. All I needed was an asshole to rub me the wrong way, and he/she was going to get a nice cuppa right down the front of their lovely outfit! It’s a very demanding job, I’ll bet you’ve got some great stories!
People are built differently for sure! I look about the same as Kate in these pictures and I’m a whole lot denser! I’m also 5′7″ but I weigh 130lbs on a good day (all muscle though, ‘cos I work out 6-7 days a week). As for the amount I eat, I eat about 2500 calories a day easily. 3 large meals plus 200 calorie snack bars in between, but I run about 6 miles a day, so everything is burned off.
I think she’s gorgeous and thin. Besides the drugs I would do anything to be as thin as her.
Um. I am 28, have a BMI of 19 and eat about 3000 kalories a day. With 1500 a day I would emaciate very quickly. And be very hungry.
I think she looks the same… And thanks good she breakup whit Pete Doherty … She is a great model and have a great future whitout ED and the drunk of Pete Doherty…
…

she is so cool!!!! I love her
Maxx05, you wouldnt believe some of the customers ive had
I work in the cafe/bar of a 5 star hotel, so theres some extremely interesting characters….
Waitressing isnt so bad, theres also a lot of really lovely people out there who enjoy talking to you. Its only when it gets stressful that the problems occur, then the good days make up for it.
and miamaria, wow, thats quite something. Your metabolism must be like a racehorse!

Did anyone see the wall of weights thats floating round the internet? Someone was charting what different people looked like at different weight/height ratios, and asked people to send in photos. It was really interesting but i lost the link a while ago. Wish i remember where it was!
She always looks like she’s just coming off a three-day gin bender.
I’ll give Kate something to eat that she would enjoy….and she wouldn’t gain an ounce!!
poor Kate
Im 5′7 and around 100lbs closer to 97 usually
I eat and work out and have no issues whatsoever maintaining my weight
I’m 5′2 1/2 and 145 lbs. I’m still thin-looking in a dress, a size 2 (even though I’m working on being smaller in the hips). How a model can be 120 lbs at 5′10 I don’t understand. At 120 lbs, I’d probably look emaciated.
I couldn’t care less if she eats or not. To me she always looks more or less too thin. I am not a fan of straight women with just nipples, protruding hip bones and a huge gap between her legs.
she looks the same and the story sounds like BS to me. If somebody really is a good friend of Kate’s they likely aren’t selling stories about her weight and breakups to the tabloids
who cares..isn’t she a druggy?

SKNG:
You are 5′7. Why would you want to maintain 97 lbs?? That is scarily underweight for 5′ 7.
I am 5′6 and at my skinniest I weighed 132 and I was a size 5/6. I was really toned and in shape. I couldn’t imagine being thinner than that.
Some of these comments scare me. Yall need to eat and stop obsessing about being a skeliton
Curves and being healthy is BEAUTIFUL. And yes you can have curves and still be thin!!
I wish I could find a site that listed the actual height along with a weight range for models and celebrities. They all differ.
She looks the same to me, I don’t think she’s lost much.
Is she a smoker?
I could see why she would be upset then. this doesnt automatically make her anorexic they should give her a break.
loving her outfit btw, nice blazer stovepipe combo.
how is that news?when did she ever eat?
I’m also 5′6″ and 130 and people are always asking if I’m eating enough because I look too thin. The heights/weights listed on this website always boggle my mind. I suppose it has to do with body types, but… it’s weird.
I think Kate looks about the same. I would think she’d be gaining weight from not doing as many drugs, now that she’s not with Pete.
This b-tch needs to eat………..Pete Doherty is a drug abuser, can’t stay out of jail and he’s NOT HOT AT ALL……….she can find better being a supermodel and all but she needs to focus on her damn daughter.
she needs to gain about at least 20lbs to LOOK HEALTHLY but who knows how much her damage to her body she’s done already….
i dont think shes lost weight
models are able to eat more than just 1200-1500
i’m 5′3 and 87 pounds and eat 1800-1900 with 30 minutes exercise.
These people do eat!
I believe models can eat, even though I can imagine it’s hard to keep a realistic view of you body. I’m 29, 6 ft tall and 130 lbs. I wear a US size 6 or French size 38 and I eat pretty much what I want. As long as I exercise a bit, it does not come on. Just stay healthy and make sure not to lose or gain too much at once. I believe gaining weight or losing weight in a healthy way is much harder than maintaining a (relatively low) weight.
its obvious that she is unhealthy and underweight. end of story.
You can’t judge a person’s eating habits/or the lack of it, by just looking at the photos. Some people are just born with waifish-like bodies. I’ve close friends who eats healthily (i.e. three meals a day, with few snacks in between) and yet, a couple of them weighs around 97 lbs and stands at 5′4/5′5. As for myself, I do eat healthily and exercises 3 times a week, I don’t have ed and I weight is 120 and I’m 5′4. Yet, I feel insulted when people who don’t know me and my close friends thinks we’re too thin and have ed.
With regards to Kate, she may have ed or may not have. I don’t like to judge just by looking at the pictures. But one thing I know, smoking and drinking kinda makes a person stay thin…
The man is Jamie Hince, from The Kills.
I’m 5′10″, 130lbs and no one ever tells me that I look too thin, because I’m curvier than girls shorter than me who weigh more. I have boobs, bum and tummy as well. I don’t know where it comes from. Reading these, by rights I should be uber-thin. I guess I just have a lot of body fat. I don’t really do that much exercise, just walking, so maybe that’s it.
I don’t think Kate Moss looks too thin. I think she’s gorgeous. I love her bangles in the first picture. I wear them like that. They make this really lovely noise.
Anyway, I’m getting completely off topic, so I’ll stop.
nahh
o the dude a cuple of posts down, shes 5′7 not 5′10
:)
