Elisha Cuthbert Is On The Smoking Diet

You all may remember that back in August, there were rumors going around that Elisha Cuthbert had put on a few pounds.
Elisha was spotted Tuesday outside Bar Marmont in West Hollywood, smoking. I wonder if she is trying to smoke off the gained weight?
Not that she really looks like she needs to lose any weight. What do you all think?

Too bad. I can’t understand why oh WHY they all have to smoke?! Her outfit is HORRIBLE.
Difficult to tell by the outfit. Her hips/thighs look a bit thick.. but not bad. In her movie, Captivity, she was curvy but not big. That was filmed probably 9 months or so ago, though.

It is getting a bit annoying and ridiculous that every time someone is caught smoking they must be trying to lose weight. People smoke for all different reasons! Gisele quit smoking - so she should be gaining tons and tons of weight, right??? SMOKING DOES NOT MAKE THAT BIG A DIFFERENCE ON YOUR WEIGHT. It’s how much you eat!!!!! I was 25lbs. heavier when I was a smoker than I am now and i continued to lose while i quit.
I know it’s sexist, but I really don’t like to see women smoking. I think it looks far worse than when a man smokes in public, don’t know why?

Gross. Every time I see a celebrity who smokes, I get so disappointed, especially when they’re as gorgeous as she and Jessica Alba and Katherine Heigl are. It doesn’t matter how much Botox you inject and how many peels you get, your skin will eventually still look dull and ashy, your hair will be dull and lifeless. It certainly doesn’t do anything to enhance your beauty (not to mention women are twice as likely to get lung cancer than men.)
She doesn’t need to lose weight at all. She needs to ditch the cancer sticks.

wow that really does not even look like her. She usually has really short cute hair. Her body in recent movies was to die for. She was not stick skinny but thin and very toned. She looked hot. This really does not seem to look too much like her at all. Smokers do not lose fat they lose muscle from smoking, research just proved it to be true in recent studies. Smokers are only thinner due to muscle lost from important places like around the organs. Smoking is a gross habit.
Agreed. She is probably just having a cig and nothing more. If she is loosing weight, it might be through som eother means. The smoking means nothing-she smoked before.

Smoking is a nasty unhealthy habit and most (not all)people who quit gain some weight, at least initially.
I am not sure why - from my experience - smoking suppresses the appetite and makes you munch less…When you quit - the food also tastes so much better!

I smoke too. I’m skinny. But thats because I don’t stuff my face with gross, fatty foods and stick to healthy foods. Its not because I smoke.

Why is doing something that causes lung cancer an accpetable way to lose weight? I just wish that nobody knew that it suppressed the apetite, because girls take that information and use it, not giving a thought to how they are shortening their life span. Not only that, but smoking for appearance purposes is counter intuitive. Who would care about being skinny if they had smokers lines and gum disease?

Rian, I think it is very irresponsible for you to say that she is on a “smoking diet” as you have noted few times before about other celebrities. It spreads the myth that smoking makes you lose weight and unfortunately young impressionable girls believe this. Like Andrea said, a smoker may look smaller, but it is just a loss of muscle, not a loss of fat.

Did she just recently start smoking? If so, that’d be frickin’ hilarious. I remember an episode of “Designing Women” (anyone else old enough to remember that show?) where Delta Burke’s character started smoking to lose weight and it made her so miserable that she quit within a week. My mom took up smoking in college to lose weight and quit immediately when she met my dad because he wouldn’t tolerate a smoker.
It’s definitely a stupid way to lose weight (in my mom’s case, it didn’t work), but it looks like a lot of celebs go that route instead of chewing a stick of gum or sipping some water instead.
