Personally, I happen to think Katharine has one of the best celebrity bodies around… what do you all think? She is perfectly slim and toned and always looks gorgeous.
I think she looks incredible. She’s beautiful and perfectly slim and toned without looking too thin.
I agree her body is amazing, thin and tall, she also has a beautiful face. I’m definately not a fan but she looks great in these pictures.

People always seem to miss the point that there are different body types within normal. This young woman is of a body type that is very popular. I wish others wouldn’t try to force their bodies to look this way when it isn’t natural for them.

I always wonder about her. She is supposedly a recovered bulimic but I have to wonder how she maintains this body. I’m not suggesting she’s still bulimic but I definitely think she’s as obsessive as she has always been. Hopefully she stays healthy, because she looks amazing.

Yeah, she’s lost at least 20 pounds since she was on American Idol….hopefully she lost the weight in a healthy way since she has admitted to bulimia in the past. She looks awesome- she definitely does not need to lose more weight.
I understand anorexia, but I do not understand bulimia.
Isn’t bulimia like total failure of will power? When someone is anorexic they obsessively control their food intake. Anorexia also often comes from feelings of loss of control, I think. When you eat very little and only certain foods it gives you an illusion of being perfectly in control.
What about bulimia? Aren’t they just all wannarexic?
P.S. I am neither, but about 10 years ago I went through a difficult experience and all of a sudden became anorexic, for about 6 months, I guess….Never before never again…

I read that Katherine credits her weight loss to the book “Intuitive Eating.” I read that book and it was probably the best decision I’ve ever made - i’m down 25 lbs.. and counting.

Bulimia is not a “total failure of the willpower.” It is a psychologically rooted problem, that is developed for a myriad of different reasons. Often, the bulimic is purging his/herself not of just the food that was consumed but also of painful memories or stressors that one is dealing with. Bulimia can also follow a period of anorexia as the anorexic succumbs to her body’s demands for nourishment but also fears the calories she has consumed. These are just some examples of the causes of bulimia. To suggest that bulimia is merely a matter of self-control is to minimize the suffering of millions of people who have this eating disorder.

Jess, I was not trying to offend anybody, merely sharing my own experiences and suggestions as to nature of various EDs. As I stated, I met a number of anorexics in my life but no bulimics. Hence the interest.

McPhee looks great, Intuitive Eating is awesome she actually inspiried me to explore it which I did and it has freed me from my ED

It looks as if she’s lost weight. She’s always been beautiful even when she was chubbier during her first American Idol audition. Hollywood certainly has glammed her up, but she’s always been a naturally beautiful girl.
I would say she weighs 135-140…The ‘ideal” weight is considered to be roughly 100 plus 5 lbs for each inch over “5′)”. Thus, if you’re “5′2″ ideal is 110, and at ‘5′8″, she’s probably close to or just a bit less than 140.

does anyone remember kim cattrall as samantha on satc? she was veryyy slim, flat-chested, and said in an interview she was 5′6.5″ and 127-130. it seems kind of heavy for such a slim girl, but muscle tone really makes a difference!

When people discuss “anorexics” and “bulimics” on very different terms in baffles me. Anorexia and bulimia are very closely linked and most people suffer from a combination thereof and not of one or the other exclusively, like people tend to assume. Bulimia is also much more common than anorexia so it’s likely you’ve known bulimics, they just haven’t told you…
I think she looks great! She is tall, which helps her…I wish I were that tall. I heard her talk about her bulimia on the Tyra show and it sounds like she’s doing rather well with her recovery.
Yulya–I’m sure you’ve met MANY bulimics in your lifetime. A lot of bulimics hide it well and most of them aren’t underweight. It’s not lack of willpower…some bulimics don’t eat for a LONG time and then binge. It’s complicated. A lot of ED sufferers have a combination of anorexia/bulimia. My aunt has suffered from a combination of the two for over 20 years. She goes into her anorexic mode when she’s nursing her kids and into bulimic mode when she’s pregnant…it’s really messed up.

I’m a long time reader of this site, but a first time commenter. As a longtime eating disordered individual who is sick to death of having a deadly disease trivialized by dangerously uninformed people, I’m so appalled by Yulya’s ignorance that I have to put in my three cents…
Yulya, if you were truly interested in learning about the complex nature of eating disorders, there is a way to pose an inquiry that does not make you come off as a smug idiot who is making assinine assumptions based on your very limited knowledge of the subject. It’s comments like yours that contribute to the stigma attached to EDs and prevent sufferers from seeking help.
First of all, it is very possible you HAVE met bulimic people in your lifetime due to the nature of secrecy surrounding eating disorders- we don’t go around puking on everyone, you know.
Also, while you’re reading up on bulimia, you may want to do a little studying of anorexia. It’s the number one most deadly mental illness and it affects its sufferers for a lifetime, regardless of their stage of recovery. It’s not something you just “catch” for 6 months because you decided to stop eating.
I watched AI when she was on. She’s lost almost, if not all of her chest.. she was A LOT busty-er. Guess it goes along w/ the terrority.

Your question was both offensive and irrelevant. You are obviously a very lonely person with no other friends to talk to otherwise you wouldn’t be checking this site so much to see “who would talk to you today”.

Yikes. Lots of passionate people out there, who get really charged up about eating disorders. Which is great, as a way to share information, comfort, etc. But holy poptarts, people, I hope you don’t express yourselves in the same way in real life. Instead of using this website to vent all the hatred, hurt and ignorance in our puny little lives, how about practicing a little compassion? Practicing our diplomacy in asking questions? Practice our critical thinking? Problem solving instead of offending people? How about just practicing spelling and grammar, if nothing else???

Not to brag or anything, but Katherine and I look very similar in physique and I’m 5′7 and 130. I think she may weigh just a tad less, because I have a huge noggin (Like Rebecca Romijn). I’d guess her to be about 5′7-5′8 and 127lbs.

Katie, she lost a bunch of weight during the Idol season just due to the stress and hectic schedule, and healthy eating.The difference between the chubby girl that auditioned and the girl that sang in the finals was like night and day. She may have lost a little more weight after that, but not a whole bunch.

All the eating-disorder-fighting gets really really old. Obviously, a lot of us have experienced eating disorders in one way or another, but still. I think that we could educate people about our experiences best if we don’t call them retards and morons and accuse them of being pro-ana, maybe?

breads, first of all, calling us ‘you poor ed sufferers’ is really condescending and pretty rude. you might not mean it that way, but that’s kind of how it came off to me. second of all, i think a lot of people with disordered eating flock here because we are fascinated by others’ weight, weight gain/loss, etc. it’s a subject we know a lot about and are obsessed with.
at least that’s my take on the subject.
also, i suffer with both anorexic and bulimic behaviors and am underweight, and i have to say, i am NOT a ‘wannarexic.’ i hate anorexia and bulimia with a passion.

You can’t become anorexic for six months, sorry. That’s called a diet. Anorexia, and all other eating disorders, are all consuming, life destroying, CHRONIC illnesses. People suffer for years and years and years; even after recovery the thoughts are sometimes still there. EDs don’t just magically go away one day and never come back again. I wish.

But if you where talking about Mcphee, she wasn’t anorexic, she was bulimic. And for well over a year. I think you can go through a phase of not eating very much without being anorexic, like you said, a diet, but if you force yourself to throw up, more than once or twice, I think you have an eating disorder.

Some people on this site are clearly very protective of their disorder. Yulya’s statement was clearly not meant to be insulting but some people have taken it as such which is a shame.
