For a while there several months ago, she was looking really good (weight-wise). I wonder what happened?
Edit: To those of you who don’t know, I was not talking about Mandy’s looks in this post, as I think she is gorgeous. I was talking about her weight… you know, since this is a celebrity weight gossip site and all…! 
I think it’s just her dress. It’s not the most flattering option, that’s for sure. If she has gained any weight, it’s not too noticeable. She still looks fantastic.
She has definitely put on weight and she seems to be quite unhappy with it…

Um…Mandy’s never been exactly svelte but this is a new low (or should I say High?) for her. She looks totally plain and matronly. Kinda like someone’s MOM…no offense to the mothers out there. She seems like a nice girl, but I don’t see why anyone would idolize her figure wise…she looks like a pear…Kisses!!
I think she’s gained a bit but the outfit and the pose make her look even heavier than she is.
Those ankle straps make her legs look shorter and the satin does not help when one is not standing up straight.
In your archives—the July 9th picture of her in a bikini—-the others have more forgiving dresses, especially around the middle.
She looks thinner to mehere than in the bikini—I would like to have someone else’s opinion on that comparison.
Satin is an extremely unforgiving fabric. It makes most people look “paunchy”, I think.
I’m not sure why poops claims she never smiles. I’ve always thought that she was quite happy-looking in most photos.
it’s definetly the dress because i saw candids of her taken 2 days before the event and she didn’t look this big. i met her once, she’s absolutely lovely.

Mandy is GORGEOUS no matter what her size. I’ve always admired her for her ability to appear so down to earth and not take herself too seriously. I think she would look wierd if she were to be stick thin like so many actresses her age are. She looks like a woman should look and I hope she continues to buck the trend set by her peers of the overly thin coke-head strung out look.

Mandy Moore is 5′9″ or 5′10″, and as someone who is 5′9″ I can tell you all that it is a little difficult to hit those low numbers when you’re carrying so much more height. I mean, come on…we can’t all be Gisele (I wish, haha).
Also, that dress is pretty bad on camera. Some dresses just DO NOT photograph well, and I think we can safety say this is one of them.
And really…if someone was snapping my pic all day long every day of my life, I’d probably stop smiling as much, too.

the problem is that every woman in hollywood is expected to be tiny, even when that is inconsistent with her genetics. Mandy obviously wasn’t born to be super skinny, yet she is forced to fit that mold, the moment she starts eating like an adult she puts on weight and starts to resemble a normal human being. She is by no means fat, she is average sized now and there is nothing wrong with that!!! actors are supposed to be just that, they shouldn’t have to be a certain weight!

Normal weight. The dress looks like she’s been sitting around in it all day which she probably has. She looks teriific. She should take up an exercise regimen, though. Karate or running or something. Maybe exercise ball and free weights.
She hasn’t been a thin girl for a while now and she seemed to be comfortable with that. But that dress and the posture are not doing her any favors. I love that she’s open about being a mediocre actor/singer, and that she’s thrilled to being doing what she loves for a living.
If I had a little girl, I’d much rather have Mandy be her roll model than the tabloid queens. Until her weight becomes a health issue, she’s perfect any way she is.

i guess the 5 factor diet doesn’t work as well as it claims….both mandy moore and jessica simpson are listed as harley pasternak’s clients, and both seem to be gaining weight…satin, unless you are super-svelte, is also unflattering. the loose sleeves and popped collar add to the sloppy effect, but i think it may be her slouchy posture that’s making her look so matronly and plain.

she is fabulous! fantastic! i think she is one of the best out there. what a voice and body she has. amaaazing!!!! yeah she used to be sickly thin when “candy” came out and now she looks on the high end of “healthy” weight. she could stay where she is or lose a little but still ridiculously beautiful.
it doesn’t look like she’s gained weight at all. She looks EXACTLY the same size as shes been for a while now. Yea, shes not as skinny/tiny as she was when she was 15 yrs old, but who is!? She is a woman now. She looks really good.

I.M.O. …I think that Mandy is a beautiful young woman who does NOT let the many, many “skeletors” dictate (to her) the “scary, scrawny skinny look(s)” that so, so, so many other actresses ALWAYS, at one time or the other, succumb (to) !!! Many are baffled that she is still breathing (normally) and able to just walk ! According to the physicians’ reports..her lowest weight was 82 pounds when she was (ESPECIALLY) on that stupid Alley MCBEAL l !!!!!

Mandy is 27, right? Metabolism might be slowing down as she approaches the 30’s. I remember that she was a skinny teenager and blossomed into a curvy woman as years went on.
I think she looks truly gorgeous when she tries. Without much styling and careful dressing though, she can look a bit on the frumpy side. I wonder though if the weight gain, the apathetic attitude she’s displaying here might indicate that depression is getting the best of her again, which would make me feel bad for picking on her.
She has a very beautiful face, but very poor posture and a very bad stylist. That dress is NOT flattering. She looks to have a bit of the saddle-bags…. I detect an extra wideness below the hips. I feel for her, because when I put on weight this is where it goes, and it is very unpleasant. I guess I can’t think of a good place to gain it though.

Two main points:
1) Becks said that at 5′9 or 5′10 it becomes really hard to hit lower weights. Correct. However you can still *look* thin, and all we are judging Mandy Moore on is appearances. A 5′10 person will look thin at a higher weight than a 5′4 person therefore there is no *need* to go for extremely low weights.
2) Not ALL anti-depressants cause weight gain. Some do; some don’t. We don’t know if Mandy Moore’s do, or even if she’s still taking them. The meds I used to take actually surpressed my appetite, so its pot-luck.
Mandy looks good. Lack of tone, bad posture but nothing to worry about. She’s healthy.

emucorp new generation antidepressants do not lead to weight gain. Actually prozac and other SRIs cause loss of appetite but I would not recommend this as a means of diet! Why is Moore depressed? does she listen to her own songs?

She doesn’t look any bigger to me. I think that extra pounds look better on tall girls, because they are kind of spread out more evenly. When Liv Tyler was bigger I never felt that she was any less attractive, she and her tall frame could get away with it. Of course it also helps that she’ so freaking beautiful.

She’s normal and average-sized. And for someone that tall, she should be weighing just right. I think most people compare the Mandy of today with the Mandy of her ‘Candy’ days. NOT going to happen. She was barely out of adolescence then. She’s now a woman. And a very beautiful one at that.

I dig my ladies thin and muscular, but for some reason I like that Mandy’s not like that. I especially like that, as far as I know, she’s never said something like, “Oh, I don’t want to be a size zero, I don’t want to give in to the demands of Hollywood ‘n’ stuff ‘n’ all, y’know?” and then proceeded to lose 45 pounds anyway in a show of adorable hypocrisy.
She has a fresh and pretty face that makes her look very approachable. And the few times I’ve seen her on talk shows, she seems extremely down-to-earth, sweet, funny, and NORMAL.

a) Not a cute picture of her at all. She’s not smiling, she’s standing there like she’s waiting in line at Starbucks and she looks spacey. I’ve seen far cuter pictures of her in the past. Not to mention it’s a head on shot. If you notice other pictures from events like this, usually they’re standing at the side with their hands on their hips or something more flattering than this pose.
b) Did it occur to anyone that her stomach may be bloated because she’s on her period? I know I practically look pregnant at that time of the month. WHO CARES?
c) Anyone who says she needs to lost 20+ pounds is just looking for attention. They think this is what anorexic people would think looking at her, so they want to come off as anorexic and therefore say that. She doesn’t need to lose 20 pounds.
d) She’s never even mentioned her weight before, which I definitely like about her. She’s a gorgeous woman who’s clearly healthy because she eats enough and works out. Why can’t we focus on that rather than yowling about how she “needs to lose 20 pounds?”
e) I’m tall as tall as she is and I have to second the idea that tall people tend to photograph a little heavier than they are.
Mandy Moore is great! She is beautiful and always seems happy. She should be every girls inspiration in terms of weight. Not all these disgusting supermodel types.
some people are naturally thin. others are not. for someone who’s not naturally thin to maintain a low weight, it’s hard and requires restricted calories and working out a lot. i know. i am not naturally thin and for me to be a size 2 requires effort and discipline on my part. so give her a break.

I would like to say that I’ve seen other pictures of her at this event, and this was the worst of the lot. In the other pictures, she looks much slimmer and is smiling, looking gorgeous. This picture makes her look slumped over and bored, but in the others, she looks fantastic!
