How Lauren Conrad Got Her Body
Category: Misc Celebs & Diet News
I’ve had several requests to have this article scanned, so here you all go!
FYI - I discovered that the “Lauren Conrad Loses Weight” story is a few months old already. Her diet was covered in a September issue of In-touch Weekly (see my story here). I’m not sure why Shape Magazine decided to regurgitate her weight loss as though it was something new.
In this particular article, Lauren gives some good tips and information on how she lost the weight. She also talks about how important it is to have a strong circle of friends who support you and who will tell you when you go too far with weight loss.
Make sure to check out the detailed guide provided in the article (with photos) outlining the key moves that Lauren uses to stay toned.

her workout looks great if you have some personal trainer standing over you to make sure you are doing it right… lol…
ah, those pesky genes, dished out to random people as though it were the will of God…
And who is she ? :\
She’s too thin. She’s pretty though.
too thin, too boring.
She gets a spread in Shape for losing a whopping 6lbs? That is absurd. She is a spoiled brat/actress who grew up privelaged. That is the only reason she on that cover. I can’t stand her.
Her body looks good I hate her
her body looks good, but who is she??
It has always puzzled me how people see a picture of someone and attack their personality; labelling them boring.
I’m afraid my stance has now changed: this chick seems to have as much depth as the nonexistant layer of fat covering her body.
crazy… I went to high school with that trainer! I guess he wins most successful lol
she really doesn’t look that different from before, at all. and six pounds? gimme a break. workouts are ALWAYS easier if you have a trainer, duh.
emily your point is right (to me anyway)
but since i never want to be on the cover of shape and live a life where all i do everyday is workout and have a job that is about as challenging as a 15yr old GCSE work exprience 1st job she is more than welcome to her empty life
i may be poor compared to her but the brain cell activity she demonstrates on her show makes me happy to be myself
I like her..
She’s very cute, but I think that’s a little photoshoped…
six pounds? You gotta be kidding me
Hmmm…I kind of like the way she looks on the cover. . . tiny waist…nice stomach…and she’s got hips and thighs. Not a spectacular beauty, but certainly pretty.
you guys think she got photoshopped in the workout pictures? sure doesn’t look like that on the show.
she looks the same as always since laguna beach…who cares! she’s useless
and why is her pose the same in every shot? it looks really computer generated - like they took one photo and just keep changing the bathing suit and other little things
Twentieth!!!
I think she looks fine. Curvy hips and a tiny waist. People say sometimes that I look like her (I’m brunette though) so thanks to coacheiress who said “Not a spectacular beauty, but certainly pretty. ” Wow, feeling great about myself this morning!!
Just kidding : )
hot
I’m bathing in the irony. ‘Her body?’
Please.
This one doesn’t have the discipline to open a bag of carrots let alone eat them.
1500 cals? That is pathetic. To just maintain a healthy weight, most women need at least 1800-2000cals. Wow that is insane. And I will never understand why people always say squat to parallel. That position is the most unstable and weakest point for your knees. Squat down further, ideally till your bum touches your ankles.
I can’t wait ’til she’s over the hill(s) and has to really work to stay in any sort of shape.
Now, excuse me while I cackle at her enormous accomplishment of losing six whole pounds. Yeah, that’s really hard for a 21-year-old to do. *eye roll and middle finger*
I love LC. I know the photo is probably a little photoshopped but her real figure is still great. It is not her fault that others can’t afford a trainer or don’t have the time to train while she can. No matter if you have a trainer or a personal chef it still takes discipline to remain fit and healthy. We should just say someone looks good without having to always point that they have “advantages” over us.
I will admit she is very pretty, and has a nice body.
When people say they do cardio, and yet wrap sandwiches in LETTUCE LEAVES, I want to punch them in the head.
Eat some carbs, dumbass.
Wow that looks like the easiest workout ever. I think her weight loss comes more from her balanced 1500 cal diet than that “resistance” workout lol which does absolutely nothing. She looks good but definitely doesn’t have any muscles.
Off Topic
Quite possibly the most maddening thing about all the tarts on The Hills and the likes of Paris H, Nichole R and half of the girls on America’s NTM is the way they say ‘thank you.’ They all deliver this lazy pronunciation that sounds more like ‘than-que’ accompanied by the most insincere smile imaginable.
It’s enough to make you tear your hair out.
Pooooooops … what? You mean they actually have the grace to say “thank you”?
Well how much do you gus want her to lose? She was never fat per say, and if she lost 30 you’d all call her ’skeletal.’
PERFECT body, I love the waist being defined from the hips.
Sort of off topic, but under her favorite things there are a pair of five hundred dollar shoes referred to as “Cheap and Chic”…I always suspected I was low class, but I guess this confirms it. I’d spend $500 on a car before I’d spend it on one pair of shoes.
I don’t know about her personality, but I think she looks good. Fit and healthy. She may have lost only 6 lbs, but her body fat percentage probably changed and that really is the most important measurement…
Toned Up, Lost Weight? Gimme a break she didnt need to lose weight. Now she lost what little “body” she had.
tim jones, 1500 calories for a young woman wanting to lose (or even maintain) weight is fine. the average american woman eats 1800-200 cals a day. and what does the average american woman look like? yea.
1800-2000 calories a day is fine if you’re a) a man, or b) a 6-ft tall woman marathon runner.
woops, left out a 0 on that first 2000
god you guys are all being ridiculous!! i think she looks great, and lets not forget that actresses and famous people with great bodies are not necessarily genetically blessed. because youre sitting at home on your ass while theyre going to 4am workouts, because youre stufifng your face with carbs while their eating fish and veggies, dont hate! cmon.
ps: actually the recommendation for women is 1600 calories a day given by the ADA. most women dont need 1800 or 2000.
These magazines annoy me (SHAPE, SELF, Fitness - the ones supposedly committed to women’s HEALTH). They say she’s consuming 1,500 calories a day?! WHY would she need to consume that little?!
For one thing, she didn’t need to lose any weight in the first place, just a small, small amount if any. And a person of her age, height, etc. could easily lose on a much higher, healthier and reasonable 1,800 calorie diet…
No wonder people develop eating disorders or just disordered behaviors and attitudes toward “diet” and exercise. And also this is probably why people “can’t take it anymore” and go off into binge-land and gain all their weight + more back - they can’t take it anymore on such a restrictive diet. Ok, I’m done ranting.
ph3nix, you do not know what you are talking about. Your suggestions and recommendations are absurd. I never said the “average” women needs to consume 1800-2000 cals. I said in order for a women to maintain a “healthy weight,” she needs to consume that much. You honestly know nothing about nutrition if you suggest a man should consume 1800-2000 cals a day. Wow. For a man just to maintain a “healthy weight” he needs to consume around 2300-2800 cals. And to say a female marathon runner might need to consume 1800-2000, ha. Try more than 2500. Where do I fight on your spectrum of acceptable caloric intake? I easily eat 3500 cals a day.
haha that dress she ‘designed’ looks like something you can buy at forever 21 from 2 seasons ago
tim jones, i have no issue with anyone eating however many calories they want. if we’re going to use personal anecdotes, i consume 1400 cals per day and i’m at the low end of the healthy weight range for my age, gender and height. and yes, i hit the gym regularly (at least 3x a week - weights AND cardio!). if you’re really curious, do a quick google search on caloric requirements for men and women. neither of us may be on the ball, but my guesses may be slightly closer than yours.
anyway, this post is about LC. moving on!
Katie, by ADA I assume you mean the American Dietetic Association. So, they recommend 1600 cals a day for women? So, what? The ADA is responsible for the high carb low fat diets of the early 90s. The ADA still promotes a slightly modified, yet still horribly flawed food pyramid. The ADA still still says saturated fat causes heart disease; the ADA still refuses to admit carbohydrates are the main dietary cause of heart disease and recommends they make up 45 to 65 percent of total calories consumed; the ADA still says too much protein is bad for the kidneys, and that too much sodium causes hypertension.
Thanks Tim Jones, you are absolutely correct! I’m a fitness instructor and I easily eat 2000-2200 cals a day. I can’t imagnie surviving on 1500 cals a day, I’d lose an incredible amount of weight, all in the form of muscle, and that I’m not willing to sacrifice! What Lauren is doing is fine for weight loss, but she should bump her intake up to 1800 cals a day for maintanence.
ph3nix, you are missing my point. You may have figures and numbers that you obtained from seemingly reputable sources, mainly government agencies, but your figures are fundamentally flawed, because those agencies are pretty much wrong. Sure, when it comes to vitamin and mineral dosages they are very accurate, but other than that, they are in the dark ages.
Haha Aunt Crabbie, that’s exactly what I was thinking. Gorgeous shoes though *sigh*.
I used to like Shape mag but now I find the pictures too photoshopped. The characters in Beowulf look more human than the women in Shape pictures.
Ok, Lauren getting a Shape cover is absolute crap for a few reasons. First off, these pics are highly airbrushed, I’m not saying that she is chubby in any way, but she does not look like this on the show. Second, everytime I tune in to The Hills, she is grubbing at a restaurant or guzzling down mixed drinks. Even in the episode where she was working out with her trainer, she was talking about where she was going to go out drinking that night while simultaneously lifting weights.
These pics look good, and LC does not look bad in reality but she is in no way an inspiration for health-buffs or anything special besides, well, cute.
I’d be willing to bet she easily consumes 1,500 calories per night drinking beer and liquor. Then just wakes up and goes to her personal trainer for damage control.
“Cheap and Chic” is part of the Moschino brand name–it’s their lower-end line. Just wanted to point out that it wasn’t the magazine or Lauren calling them cheap! (since they certainly aren’t!)
Wow, Jodi — love your comments! I’m still laughing. Seriously, if the girl is 21, rich and genetically blessed (in the looks department), there’s no reason she shouldn’t look great.
And Tim, too much protein is bad for the kidneys and saturated fat is bad for your heart!
Jesse, fine, I guess I will have to show you proof, starting with protein: Back in 1983, researchers first discovered that eating more protein increases your “glomerular filtration rate” (GFR). GFR is essentially the amount of blood your kidneys are filtering per minute. From this finding, many scientists made the leap that a higher GFR places your kidneys under greater stress. The truth: Nearly 2 decades ago, Dutch researchers found that while a protein rich meal diet did boost GFR, it didn’t have an adverse effect on overall kidney function. In fact, there is zero published research showing that downing hefty amounts of protein–specifically, up to 1.27 grams per pound of body weight a day–damages the kidneys.
Saturated Fat: I could write you a book. For a very complete look at saturated fat, go to the men’shealth site and type in “What if Bad Fat is Actually Good for You?” in the search bar.
she looks great, but not any diffo from before…
and you guys have a great conversation going—i love it!
Jesse, I throughly addressed your claims in a currently “awaiting moderation post.”
Ah, a week ago I would have weighed in with some documentation and medical reasoning regarding caloric intake. NOT TODAY! I don’t have to think for 3 weeks, and you can’t bait me into it! =)
Her body looks good, but not my favorite. She is pretty but not spectacular. I DON’T care enough about her to read the article, and I’d rather shove toothpicks under my fingernails than watch whatever dipshit show she’s on!
No amount of weight loss or exercise will make up for this girl’s idiotic personality. Her overuse of the word “like” and desperate attempt at looking intelligent is enough to make me want to vomit..
@ Jesse–I figured since it was capitalized that was the case (not that she was calling them cheap)…I’m probably still low class though
I dont’ think she is too thin. Think she looks good.
She looks great.!!!!!!! People shouldn’t be bitter. If they want to lose weight, do it.
She’s perfectly normal. Lay off junk, work out and you can look the same..this is ridiculous, 6 pounds in 7 months is NOT a diet
anyone know who makes the white pants she’s wearing in the magazine?
she looks fantastic. does it say in the article what she actually weighs? does anyone know? my guess is around the 115 mark. any other thoughts? (i think she’s about 5′4″ btw.)
Tim Jones- I know you are very knowledgeable in both fitness and nutrition topics, but personally I have found that for every study published these days there is one that completely disputes it or finds the opposite to be true through research and studies.
The book “The China Study” is written based on over fourty years of research and experiments. The author debates that high-protein diets contribute to diseases like cancer and Alzheimers (among others) and that there is no reason anyone should be eating the recommended amount of 10-35% of their daily diet.
He states that only “5-6% dietary protein is required to replace the protein regularly excreted by the body (amino acids).”
Again, you can believe what you want and personally, I’m not sure what to follow anymore seeing that there are so many different sources of information out there that contradict each other.
Anyway, just thought you might be interested in that book, if you haven’t read it already.
can you say PHOTOSHOPPED
she looks nothinglike this on the Hills
She looks good, her body looks great, but 1500 calories a day is a lot for me, and before anyone jumps to conclusions, I have no ed. I’m at a healthy weight for my height and 1100 cals suit me just fine.
She looks amazing!! You guys aren’t giving her much credit, if it’s that easy why don’t we all look this good? If you’re already slim and just need to tone up 6 lbs is a lot - the last ten are the hardest right? Her body looks really great I’m proud of her. And I think she’s pretty.
Her friend Audrina has a better body!!!
Lenore, I feel really sorry for you. Only eating 1,100 calories a day would suck. I like food, and food likes me. I eat 2,500 calories a day, and am at the lower end of my healthy BMI range. I love it.
Lafta I have to disagree a bit. Audrina does have a nice body but her legs are shapeless.
i simply don’t understand her appeal and cant understand why she is famous…sorry
definitely photoshopped!
Thanks, sandy2!
Karma, I have read the book. The fact that he claims saturated fats and cholesterol raise blood cholesterol, is in my mind, and from the findings of others, flawed. Not only that, but comparing the diets of the East Asians and its effects on their health to our own western diets is flawed as well.
Example: Look at the early 90s food pyramid. It recommended 6-12 servings of carbohydrates, and very few servings of fat. The whole basis for this recommendation was from observing the health and diet of the East Asians. These people ate very high amounts of carbohydrates, while eating very few servings of fat. Not only that, but with this diet, the East Asians had a very low incident of heart disease.
Yet, while this study was being conducted, the American government was also observing the Mediterranean and Inuit cultures. Their findings: fat was the major contributor of calories in their diet, with the most Mediterraneans getting their fat from plant sources, and most Inuits getting their fat from animals. The effects on their health: these two sects of people had an even lower incident of heart disease. Why, then, you might ask, did the government decide to stick with the East Asian diet? Despite the evidence, the government thought it would be easier just to tell people to limit fat, than to educate them on the different types.
Now, as recent studies have shown, the high intake of carbohydrates is responsible for most heart disease, diabetes, and numerous other health problems. Why, then, aren’t the East Asians afflicted with these same diseases. The answer lies in evolution. The East Asians, are carb adapted. The same reason why 90% of East Asians are lactose intolerant is also the reason they can handle carbohydrates better: environment. Agriculture has only been around for 10,000 years. Before that, humans primarily ate animal meat, vegetables, some fruit, nuts and seeds. Most people are simply not able to handle large amounts carbohydrates properly.
One thing I do agree on is the author’s advocacy for avoiding dairy. I feel that if our ancestors (about 500 generations ago) did not consume dairy nearly as much as we do now, and if every other mammal in nature (nature is the operative word here, exclude domesticated animals), without exception, never consumes dairy after being weened off of its mother’s milk, then why should I continue to consume dairy?
is this a satisfying meal plan? Does anyone here eat like this (no bread, no rice etc)? I find it very hard!
Yeap the wonders of photoshop, she doesn’t look like that in real life.
I agree with Tim Jones on this one, I can eat over three thousand calories before I start to gain weight. But I am an eighteen year old guy and still growing in height. The only time I really gain weight is when I drink Coke because I am all or nothing with that shit, I kept track one day during my real addiction and was knocking back close to two thousand calories of Coke a day, how sick is that? Switched to water and I lost all kinds of weight without changing what I eat. Anyway that was way off topic.
I think Lauren looks fine, I also think she lies about what she eats, she really doesn’t look that different to me and I think she eats whatever she did before ‘losing’ the weight, and maybe goes to the gym occasionally.
Magazine shoots sure love flashing a bright light behind the body, I guess it really does slim you down.
yeah thats what i heard…about 115.. and about 5′4″…which make me feel terrible abut myself since im 5′6″ 140..ugh!
dang you men!!!! i am sooo jealous,i workout 1-2hrs a day and if i eat over 2,00cals a day i GAIN….
*2,000…
lol
I have to say I’ve enjoyed tim jones’ commentary, I’m glad a couple people spoke up about her ridiculous 1500 calories. (Go Meg!) She’s an active young woman and does not need to be restricting her intake like that. She does look to be in good shape despite being at the low end of her healthy weight range.
Jewel, one of my roommates gets maybe 5% of his calories from carbs. He is not complaining either. If he ever does eat carbs, on carb load days that is, it is usually oatmeal or some fruit. Besides if you cut out bread or rice just replace it with delicious fat.
id be really interested in reading the “how to lose 10 lbs in one month” article.
Who cares? She’s a total loser and her show is fake.
I like the way she looks. She def. carries her weight in her lower body like me.. so she has some sexy hips and a bit of thigh.. but its all pretty and healthy looking!
Aunt Crabbie,
Moschino Cheap & Chic is the full name of the brand I do not think she intended to say the shos are CHEAP!
Tucker, I had no idea you were/are a teenager.
Look, it’s Lindsay Lohan!
she looks great. i want her body =]] but she doesnt loosk like this on the hills!!
Does Anybody know how much this girl weighs? or How tall she is??? I’m just curious!!!! Thanks xox
Haha, that’s funny Jodi.
I had no idea how old you were until I started reading your blog all the time, and then the witty comments suddenly made so much more sense!
Shrdze, haha!
I tried emailing you once, but it confused me and I suck with computers so I gave up, but now that I have your attention, I was wondering if you are a vegan for health reasons or for the animals, or both?
I find it very impessive by the way.
Also, out of curiosity, how old did you think I was before my last post? Still eighteen by the way, can’t decide whether I am excited at the though of drinking legally in a few years, or depressed at the demise of my teenage years.
Haha, good call peachnyc.
You’re right.
I thought it was crazy that she was calling five hundred dollar jeans ‘cheap.’ Although I suppose I get embarassingly excited if I find jeans that I like for less than two hundred, so there goes that logic.
She looks really good and undenyably toned, but i don’t see a difference in how she was before and how she is now.
She’s a COKE-HEAD!!!!!!!
YOU’RE ALL BLIND…
COKE HEAD!
Tim Jones, Megs, Tucker…
I am truly jealous of all of you. If I eat over ~1500 cals a day I begin to gain weight. Guess I wasn’t blessed with a fast metabolism.
when i watch the hills (which i totally don’t, because then i’d know that it comes on every monday at 10pm), she works out with whitney and audrina and they’re always yakking during personal training sessions and half assing their workouts, and i think whitney was/is going out with the personal trainer. i’ve never seen sweat muss her hair or her workout clothes. i think she has a cute body (but not cute enough to make me feel bad about myself and a pint of ice cream), but i second whoever said LC’s tv body is not the same as these pictures. but kudos to her for losing the weight in a healthy manner and being supportive of her friends.
6lbs? That’s not a story. Its called water weight, honey. She was probably on her period for havens sake!
Tucker, email me at tofuju @ jodiverse.com — but of course omit the spaces on either side of the “@” symbol — and we can fall in love in private instead of here in public. Toodles!
Will do Jodi, will do.
Remind me to never appear in public in front of any of you extremely critical people..geez.
Hmm.. Tim Jones sounds like a power lifter.
Wish people wouldn’t use this site to hook up…
thank you soo much for putting her on here! i love her, she’s my workout inspiration!
Oh dear god, GoLeafsGo, we’re not “hooking up”. We’re just being friendly. I am in a very serious relationship with my boyfriend. Tucker’s a teenager and I’m old enough to be his … aunt. Lighten up.
Haha that’s funny, because, um, I don’t swing that way! No offense, Jodi.
I love Lauren. She’s so pretty. What you all don’t realize is that she didn’t necessarily get her body by losing 6 pounds, she got her body mostly by excersising and getting toned. Thats the reason she only lost 6lbs is because muscle weighs more than fat.
And about the person that said something about her on the hills and how much she drinks, the only reason you saw that on the hills is because otherwise the show would be boring. You can’t just show her at home laying on a couch or at the gym most of the time. That’s the only reason it seems like she drinks to much. But she really doesn’t. Thats all you see.
Bottom line is, she looks great.
I’m a sophomore in high school and i had anorexia my whole freshman year and she is not anorexic, just healthy.
wow, you people are out of your minds. every magazine cover is photoshopped, and maybe she doesn’t look exactly like this but it’s not as if she doesn’t have a good body. so what she lost 6 pounds and probably gained a lot of muscle which is heavier than fat. and it’s not like any of you know her in real life so how are you going to say she’s stupid/boring/etc? or any celeb for that matter. get over yourselves.
why the hell is 1500 cals per day less?!
i am 5′8 and i need 1400 cals to maintain my weight..
if i wud be eating 1500 cals.. i probably would be gaining weight.. and i dont think she does alot of cardio..
for her height.. she probably has to consume much less than me to maintain her weight.. i think 1500 cals is perfect.
she is not too thin.. she is healthy.
Perfection
