Oh, dear. Bad, bad wardrobe choice.. so many things wrong with this look..flowy shapeless ugly floral dress (which is also see-through and is not hiding the enormous legs and hips underneath)and the severely pulled back hair..just all wrong. Poor Jennifer.

I am in the minority on Jennifer Love Hewitt. I think she’s an adorable woman and that she’s strong for not caving into the demands that people set on women. While the dress isn’t the greatest- god knows other celebs look worse.

Okay, so the dress is ugly. But I think that out of all the “plus size” celebs Jennifer actually looks pretty good. I for one would rather have a huge ass than cellulite arms and a triple chin. She’s cute.
She looks pretty from the elbows up. If that was a tunic shirt pulled over some nice fitting jeans instead of an unflattering billowing dress, she might look alot better.
Also, the color looks good on her, too bad the dress does not.

couldn’t agree more! i think she’s beautiful and seems smart, fun, and down-to-earth… way more than can be said for most people in the spotlight. i think she is and looks great.

gorgeous girl, and gorgeous dress. i think it is very flattering on her and not at all an unfortunate wardrobe choice. it looks breezy and comfortable, perfect for springtime. more power to her for not feeling obliged to conform to the opinions of others. why on earth should she not be herserf, express herself be it through clothing choices, hairstyle, creative pursuits or whatever? if every woman aspired to have boyish or little girlish stick figures with maybe a couple of boobs plopped on for good measure, where would our venus goddess women be? power to the women, hooray for curves, hurray for strength and the ability to exist without the scrutiny of judgement casting its shadow over our lives. poor jennifer love hewitt is so microcritiqued and for what? for being a gorgeous, curvy, strong woman who doesn’t bow to trends? oh my indeed!

Here’s what I don’t get: a few posts back, commenters are falling all over themselves to praise Kelly Osborne for losing weight– although she still doesn’t fit into the typical “Hollywood Standard of Thinness” (something I don’t endorse, mind you). I, myself, laud her decision to get healthier (because, truly, although most lose for the look, the added benefit is improved health). She is to be commended and praised (she DOES look great), but she is, by no means, a slip of a woman.
On that note, it is massively unfair to heap all kinds of criticism on Jennifer. She is a picture of pure, unadulterated health in a woman of her age. When the masses are collectively shouting that every starlet around is “scary skinny”, “a skeleton”, “sickly-looking” she is an antidote. Pointing out that her pear shape is “gross” (someone else’s words, not mine) is like pointing out someone like Pink who has a very hipless figure– this is something genetic. Extra weight is going to settle where the body has predestined it to– we all note that she carries no weight at all in her face or in her upper body (relative to her lower half).
Let this poor woman live– she is comfortable in her own skin. She is not hiding out, shamed by the nit-picky whims of a few critics. As evidenced by her popularity, she is doing something right.

i think she has such a beautiful face. she is not obese, she is just not a stick like most fo the people here in lala land. i think this is teh body she has always been destined to have, if you look at her when she was younger and quite thin- she always sort of had the same shape. i’m not suprised. like i said….she is stil a pretty girl.
I happen to LOVE this dress. I don’t usually like Jennifer Love Hewitt but I like this photo. I admire her for standing strong during the whole bathing suit thing. I don’t think she has a GREAT body, but she’s comfortable in her own skin and that’s really all that matters. It would be different if she were severely overweight but she’s not. Not even CLOSE. Chill out people, leave her alone!

Everyone loves her as this spokesperson for the average woman… but all of her fat is stored on her ass and stomach… which is the most dangerous place to store fat. She is really unhealthy… blame the dress all you want, but she needs to lose weight!
lula lee, JHL was very thin until recently and has gained a lot of weight. Hence the scrutiny. Kelly Osbourne is losing weight - hopefully from being more active and living a clean & sober life.
JHL doesn’t need to lose weight as she needs to start excercising and being more active/healthy. Heck she even hinted at it in a recent interview. How IF she started working out it would be because she wants to be healthy. Implies she doesn’t.

Well, that white dress she wore at the Oscars showed off her huge rear end and it wasn’t attractive.

When she was young, ate what she wanted and exercised very little. She put out a bogus Barbie work out tape for young girls to follow and raked in a lot of dough.

But she clearly has stopped hitting the gym, and no amount of flowy dresses are gonna change that. If she’s happy, then I am too, but it doesn’t look like she’s comfortable or proud of her new size.
melissa, what the heck are you talking about? The ass isn’t the most dangerous place to gain weight, the stomach is , but JHL is definitely not a apple shape. She has not gained weight in that area.
How can ppl. presume to know how healthy or healthy a person is souly based on weight. There are far more other variables to take into account.

I love her! Everyone on here talks crap on her, but guess what, she doesn’t care! She’s comfy in a flowy dress, as well as a bikini. It’s funny how everyone on here has so many negative comments for her, but no one here has reached anywhere near the level of success that she has.
this outfit is awful, but she is no where near plus sized. half the reason she even looks a tiny bit heavy is because she wears really unflattering clothes.

the ignorance about weight that gets thrown around in the comments here really pisses me off.
1. the simple act of losing weight does NOT automatically benefit health. The only way losing weight benefits health is if it happens as a result of HEALTHY eating and HEALTHY exercise. Starving, overexercising and generally going on scammy diets DOES NOTHING BUT DAMAGE girls. you heard me. nothing but damage!
2. where then, is the best place to carry weight if not the hips and lower stomach? your arms? your head? i dont get it. its fat around the middle (as in, above waist) that is the ‘dangerous’ type and JLH is as pear shaped as it comes. i.e her waist is very defined, and the weight is on her hips.
3. Many people the same size and bigger than JLH excercise regularly, eat healthily and generally live a very healthy lifestyle. a very small percentage of people are naturally as skinny as the ‘ideal’, and its only they who get down to the weight you girls seem to lust after so much with these habits. Everyone else has to go to drastic measures to be skinny, and its ALL about vanity. ALL OF IT. health never comes in to it when its someone JLH’s size dieting. to diet at her size is actually damaging to health.
stop believing and spreading lies around yourselves girls, its unpleasant and you will have to deal with the consequences, physically and psychologically.

To add to my rant, Dieting at ANY size is damaging to health, in our current terms of what a diet is.
did you know that the official amount of calories to be technically in starvation is 1600 calories a day?
now tell me how many diets expect people to eat less than that.

yay apricot muffins! the comments on this site can be a bit disturbing, to say that thin automatically = healthy is a pretty narrow statement and is rather ignorant… a thin physique can be the result of all kinds of unhealthy behaviour (of course not in all cases). I would be willing to bet that JLH is much healthier than most other starlets on this page.

To clarify my statements:
I did not mean to imply/insinuate/insist that losing weight in a dangerous fashion is expected to bring about any result other than damaging results. The undisputed fact, however, is that losing weight (by eating well AND consuming adequate calories, coupled with consistent exercise) generally improves many conditions caused by being overweight, ie. high cholesterol, breathing difficulties, overall heart wellness, etc. I didn’t think that I needed to be explicit on that fact, considering the knowledge that has been brought forth on the subject (honestly, I wouldn’t deem to insult the collective intelligence of the readership of this site by insinuating that they didn’t already know these facts to be an absolute). I stand corrected. So if indeed this is the course Ms. Osbourne is taking, then YES!–kudos to her– it IS a fine thing she is doing by losing weight (even if vanity is a top priority). However, it seems as though I’m being taken to task for simple semantics, and hairs are being split for the purpose of bringing argument and drama to the table.
And, again, if I’m wrong about THAT, mea culpa. I’m a lover, not a fighter.

Her face is just ok to me, but since she has such a small,long neck, and a skinny face with bone structures that are so pronounced and actually saves her from coming across as chubby. Like I have said in the past, she has a very nice shape and she is far from fat. IF her man is happy, why on earth are you people in here everyday chattering and bickering of her looks of being fat and obese. You are not the ones married or dating her. She is walking on a beautiful day, don’t know exactly where to. But she looks normal, charming, peaceful and most importantly, she looks happy. She is comfortable in her own skin. She looks great, but that would mean 50 kilos. That’s just ridiculous.
PS, dieting is one of the strongest predictors of binge eating in adolescent girls, and is a frequent precursor to bulimia nervosa…generally that means “unhealthy” dieting rather than healthy, but pretty much all advertised diets fall within the “unhealthy” category (i.e., prescribed calorie limits, banned foods, multiple rules about what can be eaten…vs general healthy eating guidelines and efforts to reduce overall fat intake etc).
Just thought I’d say that.
Also PS, I’m not really a fan of average size for myself, but it’s nice to see non-skinny celebrities every now and then and I think Jennifer LH is one of the few who is non-skinny and doesn’t describe herself as big, which is kind of refreshing

I love that JLH has put on all this weight. Anyone seen Hearbreakers (2001)? She was TINY in that. And I don’t mean “oh god, I can see every single bone in your body”, but “wow, your waist can fit in one of my socks”.
I used to absolutely *idolize* her body in that movie, but lament the fact that’s all genetic and I could never be that skinny and blah blah blah. Now that I know it *isn’t* genetic, I have this great sense of “If she can do it, so can I”.
And, incidentally, she doesn’t look half bad at this weight. I think as long as you don’t develop a second chin, you’re okay.
What’s really funny is that people automatically assume I’m calling her fat in the pic just because I said “Oh my”. For the record, I wasn’t…

I don’t see the big deal, she still looks pretty small to me- look at the width or her shoulders and her arms! I think she looks good there, maybe the dress wasn’t the most flattering choice especially on a windy day but ither than that I think JLH is very attractive.

People educate yourselves. To the person who says way up there that most of her fat is stored in the arse and stomach, which are the most dangerous places to store weight.
Come on, do your homework. That is so not true. MOst dangerous are those who store weight in stomach, upper part of the body, primarily the human stomach. I am beginning to think that there are way too many children in here.Jenn looks great and very much happy and healthy. Perhaps we should sue her for not meeting our prime expectations.
I think Jen is kinda cute. She’s interesting, because she has a slender upper body, but from her hips down she’s a bit chubby which makes her look bigger than she is.
If she just toned up a bit from her legs and tummy, I think she would look awesome!
