OK, other than the awful potato sack of a dress, Liv Tyler looks lovely as usual.
I understand how a dress like this could cover a multitude of sins - like a bulging belly, thunder thighs and flabby upper arms. But my goodness…

I disagree about her carrying all her weight in her stomach… I don’t think she’s one of those women. Also, her legs don’t just look thin, they look really toned. I don’t think she’s hiding much of anything under there. It is a really ugly dress though.

The dress that Liv Tyler is wearing in this photograph is exactly the type of design that is being shown on s/s2008 runways. You’d be better off sticking to ‘fat’ comments, and leaving the style ones up to the stylish.

Catherine, I am quite sure her dress is high fashion and haute couture but that doesn’t mean it’s not ugly as hell. I don’t give a damn what is showing on the runways, if it’s ugly, it’s ugly!

That dress is wrong on so many levels. Why would you want to camouflage your supposed fat with something that makes you look even fatter? I could get the same effect by grabbing a XXXL sweatshirt from Lane Bryant and pairing it with heels. Tell me WHY fashion designers get paid again??

I do not remember reading in the Bible that having flabby arms or “thunder thighs” was a sin. Anyways…way to continue bringing the importance of existence for the female population dependent on the size of their thighs(or arms or any other sinful part).
Liv looks beautiful and nice legs. It looks as though that dress may be hiding some toned thighs and sickly arms along with a malnourished stomach. Now, that is a sin.

God, clothing is so ugly these days. I’m so glad that I’m in my forties and not wearing this trendy crap. It’s so unflattering - low-cut jeans, maternity-looking tops, tent dresses…. ugh. It’s amazing that even a beautiful woman like Liv looks like crap…. how is your average-looking woman going to look!?

She is radiant, if anyone could make the dress work then I think this is about as close as you’d get. If it was slightly less shapeless, I think it would work. I wouldn’t exactly say I hate it with a fiery passion, though. I really, really love her shoes. Her body is looking pretty good. I like that she’s still sexy without wearing something really skin tight. She has beautiful colouring. I love how someone described her as the anti-posh. She seems really sweet and down-to-earth.
Oh, and Rian, I love how you’re always polite when dealing with condescending people who insult you on YOUR blog. Catherine’s comment was unnecessary and really inaccurate. I love the tone that you set for the comments! Good on you for being witty and amusing, but also polite and admitting if you make a mistake. Those qualities are really lacking in a LOT of other bloggers!

I kinda like it! Hey, just because it’s not a classic-tailored LBD doesn’t mean it’s automatically horrible. I’m apple-shaped, so as long as I cover my tummy I look stick-thin, so I can see where she’s coming from. I like that she rolled her sleeves up - with them down I probably would have hated it.

i think she looks pretty darn thin here…you can clearly see her collarbones, thinner face, no fat on her shoulders, toned legs. she looks thinner here than she has in the last few years.
i personally love her dress. it’s sexy in a comfortable yet sophisticated way. i mean, have you people SEEN what young hollywood celebs are wearing these days?? i don’t know why so many people are complaining about it…i’ve seen MANY hideous outfits on other people.
