Elle MacPherson On A Bicycle
June 9th, 2008 by Rian | Filed under Celebrity Exercise, Supermodels. Here is your celebrity exercise inspiration for the day (sort of)… Supermodel Elle MacPherson was spotted riding her bicycle in downtown Notting Hill over the weekend.

I’m not sure how many real exercise benefits one can get from wearing what she is wearing while riding a bicycle!

she’s still looking good!
how cute is her son in the back.
Yea, strange outfit for bike riding. No helmet.
yeah she looks great, the whole wind in the hair and everything! Although, I agree it doesn’t look like she’s biking for exercise but merely for transportation here.
love the hair
She’d look much better without a bra!!!
She looks good and it’s a better way to get around than a nasty polluting car! Her and the baby are getting out in the fresh air and sunshine–go Elle!
Sweet Jesus, what is she wearing? That leather fringe on her boots is going to get caught in her spokes and cause a pile-up.
Overall, I think she’s aging well. However, she’s had that hair for 25 years..I’d love to see a new look on her.
I just want to know. You get up, you get dressed, and you say to yourself..this outfit needs just ONE MORE BRACELET!
fashion…the crimes committed in the name of
She is gorgeous.
I mean, I can’t complain. She looks good for her age (I don’t know how old she is, but wasn’t she modeling in the 80s or 90s?), even if the boots are garbage. Good for her.
Australian style…. easy going and laid back, with the help of herbal greens.
In 1994—she intentionally gained 20 pounds for the movie Sirens which also starred Hug Grant and Portia de rossi. Consistently great looking for a long time.
I think she looks great for a mother of 3….not too thin just right for her height and she’s a supermodel and she no way looks her age of 44…unlike some celebrities ie geri halliwell. Elle is so natural you can see she doesn’t deprive herself and I read she gave Victoria Beckham a years worth of cup cakes for her birthday…a smart message for Mrs Skeletal spice………..GO ELLE!!!!!!
Still looking great.
not a big fan of her but its quite adorable her son is in the back, but where are their helmets?
she looks good, but sweet jesus…. those shoes look like uber hairy feet!! can you imagine the tan lines she’s gonna get on her legs!!! omg… she’s just trying waayyy too hard.
OMG guys I’m sooooo silly I thought Elle was Heidi Klum….DAAGH….anyway she still looks great at 44 with 2 kids, and it was Heidi Klum that gave posh spice the cup cakes……
Does she think that silly cap her kid’s wearing can actually protect his head they inevitably fall over on the bike after her ridiculous fringy sandals get caught in the chain?
(Insert “when” before “they”)
I think we’re forgetting that we don’t need to wear work out clothes to get some exercise - not that I’m saying her outfit is adorable, it’s not. Elle probably stays in great shape even without hitting the gym every day.
I think she looks great — pretty hair and skin. Her weight looks good.
However, I don’t like her outfit. The shoes and accessories are over-the-top in a bad way. It’s a bad costume, even for Halloween.
How the heck can she ride a bike wearing a skirt like that? Also, she’s not exactly setting a great example…like Jodi said, she’s not wearing a helmet and neither is her kid. Combine that with her riding a bike in the most ridiculous outfit ever and she’s an accident waiting to happen.
silly skirt and footwear for bike riding, the first photo - her face looks masculine.
i like her anyway, maybe the bike ride was on a whim.
Her figure is great as always - that outfit on the otherhand is laughable. I’ve never considered her a real model. Swimsuits were her main area and that was about it. Never saw her on a lot of runways or in editorial.
Now THIS was “The Body”…. not freakin’ Heidi Klum.
“downtown Notting Hill??”
there’s really no such thing.
she’s over, btw.
Shouldn’t her kid be dressed as a cowboy?
In any case, he *should* be wearing a helmet. It’s one thing to risk cracking your own head open, but your kid’s??
For a woman who’s almost as old as Jesus, she looks DAMN good. I aspire to that when I am nearly geriatric! lol
She looks great but te clothes are horrible! That is something you should wear on Halloween (and not even then)!
And I guess she is going less than half a mile an hour, ’cause if I ride my bike with a skirt like that I need to choose my underwear very carefully…
Why do people say she has to wear a helmet??? That’s so stupid, who wears a helmet on a bike?? Maybe it’s because I’m from the Netherlands, everybody is biking here but nobody would wear a helmet on a bike :S
No helmet? Even the child without one? Now, that’s dangerous!
@ Linda: I don’t know where you live, but around here (big European city) most grown-up bikers wear helmets - an ALL children do. Be crazy if you don’t.
Linda, people say she ought to wear a helmet because it helps keeping your brain in when you crash against a car/sidewalk/tree.
It might seem stupid to you but I think especially when you’re riding a bike in a big city with crazy ass motorists (some of them the likes of Pete Doherty and Amy Winehouse) all around you, it’s smarter than risking brain damage.
But she probably thinks: A helmet would ruin my Pocahontas costume which would be way worse than dying of head injuries.
(At least I think that is Supermodel-logic.)
err…dieing.
Okay, I guess you do need a helmet in a big city, didn’t think about that. I live in a small village and I’ve never seen anyone with a helmet :S W. W. W.beginvandewereld.nl/pages/panos.htm
2 times :O
She’s rockin the tribal trend - She looks good
what is this? “the attack of the h ippy M ILF on a bicycle”?
I agree with Linda. I also live in Holland, in Amsterdam, which is also a big city, and same level of dangerousness as other big European capitals. In holland everybody owns a bike, and really: nobody wears a helmet while riding it. I know one guy who does, because he once had a car accident, and he’s a great exception.. he is very well known in my neighborhood as “the helmet guy”
To people who riding bicycles is a thing they do everyday, like to all the 17 million people living in holland, it’s normal not to wear a helmet, even when you’re a kid.
I personally love her oufit! I think the sandals look awesome and she looks so great and cute.. Hot for a 44-year-old woman!
The fringes on her shoes aren’t too long, so they won’t get caught up in the spikes.
I agree with Elisa; it’s actually nice not to have to wear a helmet. When I grew up nobody was thinking of helmets and gosh, look at that, I managed to grow up without hurting my head even though I fell off at least five times
Sadly most of the people who post here are very young and they don’t know the freedom of growing up without all those health & safety rules. It was a better time, believe me. Nowadays kids get molly cuddled all the time. No wonder we have a huge increase in allergies. Parents don’t let their kids experience the things they did when they were young, which I think is a big mistake.
Oh I have her shoes =] they’re from Zara. At least mine are
She looks good, I dont think I’d wear this sort of thing to ride my bike, but oh well, Im sure she knows wat she’s doing
the reason why no-one in the netherlands wears a helmet is because biking here is incredibly safe. motorists watch out for cyclists and there are bike paths/roads everywhere.
other european countries are not so lucky. you can get away with not wearing a helmet in smaller cities, but in cities like london or paris for example i wouldn’t even dare get on a bike, with or without helmet.
She looks like Poke-her-haunches!
gardner shes in uk not in the netherlands
and she looks lovely !!!
She’s dressed WAY toooo trendy…. The 1/8 of me that’s Native American is a little insulted by her hideous take on native dress.
She’s aging well, but I can’t look @her without cringing!
I live in Canada, and will bike on bike paths without a helmet, but on the road I always wear a helmet. The big difference between the Netherlands and other countries is that in the Netherlands, there is a culture of biking. This makes everyone aware of bikers, and the sheer quantity of bikes gives bikers some power.
Both my parents are Dutch, and I lived in a city in the Netherlands (Groningen) for a while, so I’ve been able to compare what biking is like there v. in Canada. In the Netherlands, not only are there separate bike paths, they are often a bit removed from the road itself, and have their own stop signs, etc. Also, bikes are allowed to go to the front of the road at a stop light, in order to turn left. In a country such as Canada, a biker basically needs to act much like a car driver–only without the protection afforded to someone in a vehicle. Also, there is no culture of biking for transportation (rather than exercise), so cars are not careful (at all), and some drivers even act aggressively towards bikers, with whom they do not want to share the road. In the city, for example, cars will pull over to the side of the road, and people will not look before getting out of the car–and many bikers have slammed into the passenger-side door as a result. Anyway, all this to say, that in the Netherlands I would never wear a helmet, whereas here in Canada I think people who bike on the roads are crazy if they don’t.
Looks ok for her age, but saggy tits.
good body, bloody annoying face.
thanks for the loonnnnggg interesting bike stories everyone.
not everything has to be related to doing exercise in looking thin etc.
she could be wearing what she is wearing whilst riding a bike, purely for self-enjoyment and relaxation in the summer sun?!?
HATE IT when parents put helmets on ther kids and then forgets about themselves. WHAT is the ONE important thing in a toddler’s life? THEIR PARENTS FFS!!!!!!!!!
she looks good for her age (those boots have to go tho)
unlike in the us, in many countries riding a bike is just a way of transportation to get from one place to another, not only a form of exercise….so who cares what she is wearing
Hey Rian, please do a post on Denise Richards. She looks like she has gained weight recently.
She looks hot. Those boots are not boots they are sandals, and sandals that are in right now. She looks amazing for her age and better than most 20 year olds I see.
Someone needs to burn those boots/sandals/whatever.
I agree with Teed above - Elle was “THE BODY” still is!! Not Heidi Klum with those wide hips and chicken legs. Elle is like almost 50 and is STILL GORGEOUS!
She’s got a really small pin head.
those shoes are hideous! But she looks gorgeous and healthy anyway. Just ditch the shoes!
Maybe you can get away with not wearing a helmet in Europe, but here in the States, cars/trucks generally don’t respect bike riders much. The cities are laid out for cars, not bikes and when I used to bike to work in Madison, it was like taking my life into my hands every time I went…cars would cut you off, try to run you off the road, etc. So that’s why most people wear helmets when they bike around here.
Where do I start? No helmet, ugly clothes and accessories, and boots that are down-right dangerous on a bike…good thing she’s attractive because, from the looks of this picture, she was not so blessed in the brain department.
Yeah…interesting that both Elle and her child are without bike helmets. I guess looking good is more important than sustaining a severe head injury.
Reminds me of the pictures of Brad and Angelina riding bikes with their kids…their kids had helmets on but Brad and Angelina were without helmets. Way to set an example…what good would they be to their kids if they had severe brain damage?
accessoir freak
Who cares if she’s wearing a helmet? I’d personally want to put a helmet on the kid, since they can’t accept the risk, but if she doesn’t want to wear a helmet it’s her choice. I never wear a helmet, and I only know one or two people that do.
It doesn’t look like she’s particularly trying to get exercise–she’s just going for a ride. Why is it that every time someone walks somewhere or rides a bike it has to be to build muscle or build fat? I think that this belief is very sad and it’s contributed to the obesity epidemic. If a fitness spin MUST be put on it, a nice ride can relieve stress.
OK, back on topic–she looks great as always. They don’t call her “The Body” for nothing.
* burn fat
she looks like a bulldog with a beak!
you sure know how to over analyse
Saggy tits? Lucy, I’m not seeing saggy tits. I am, however, seeing way too many accessories and a neck to rival that would stir jealousy in a giraffe.
Gah! Disregard “to rival” in my comment, above! I changed my thought midstream. Whatevz.
Alicia - of course it’s lovely not to have your head/hair covered in a hot heavy helmet but it’s called safety!!! The majority of posters may be of the younger generation and may be more “molly cuddled” than when you were growing up but society has vastly changed!!! There are many many many more vehicles on the road going a lot faster now ie. the roads have become more dangerous. It is incredibly naive of you to say that parents don’t let kids experience the things they did when they were young. TIMES CHANGE AND PEOPLE MUST ADJUST TO THESE CHANGES!!!!!!!
Anyway, as an Australian myself I am proud to say that Elle is amazing - she was, is and always will be “The Body”. Her outfit is awesome, she really pulls it off!
LOVE her sunnies.
Saggy tits??? I MUST perform an inspection to determine validity!!
Linda! I’m from the Netherlands as well, what a coincidence!
No-one here wears a bike.. well, except from kids who are just learning how to ride a bike. But that’s because people here are probably used to people riding their bikes, and they also stop for bikers and make sure that they don’t drive them over… In other countries, riding a bike is definitely not as safe as it is in the Netherlands.
Oh, and Elle MacPhersons body is still to die for, even though she’s in her fourties…
Her hair extensions are awful. The extensions are lighter than the top. Terrible outfit.
The outfit is…interesting and not in a good way. The body looks incredible. Healthy and not skeletal and starved like a lot of 40 something celebs.
A bike helmet on the kid is definitely needed. If I use similar logic to some on this site, kid’s wouldn’t need safety belts when riding on small streets. And plus, they’re encased in several tons of metal, the kid doesn’t really need a safety belt, right? I bet if Britney did that, child services would have hauled her squishy tushy in.
OK, she’s a supermodel and she’s beautiful… Now, I’m tired of looking at her. New post please
those boots…
well, at least they are better than Uggs.
Hey… we want new posts!!!
Or there is some sort of program already (new posts only 4 days a week and that’s it)?
day 2 of no new posts
I wonder if she wears the same outfit canoeing?
She’s going to have an accident wearing all that stuff while riding a bike!
omg How can she still look pretty, skinny and have great fashion sense like 20 yrs on!
omg.
Elle… the best Aussie supermodel ever… one could argue the best supermodel ever. Some may say her clothes are ugly but I quite like them… going for the indian style I think lol. She looks really healthy, fit and thin as always. She reminds me of my mum… they have a similar body type, not to mention long brown hair that hasn’t changed style in 30 years lol.
Beutiful sandals..actually by Etro, SS2008, not Zara
Great body but i don’t think she’s that beautiful..or maybe it’s just these pictures..i can think of other aussie models way better than her, say Gemma Ward..
cuckooooooo
She looks fabulous for her age but her outfit is strange to say the least. It is interesting that she has chosen “helmet free” for herself and her son considering she is riding in Notting Hill, London, which is busy to say the least. The roads in London also tend to be narrow making it more likely you’ll be hit by a car. She originates from Australia, where I do, and I am in a similar age-group. Bike safety was and still is a part of the school curriculum and the wearing of helmets is compulsory by law. Since this law was introduced, the number of deaths and serious head injuries caused to cyclists has decreased markedly. Elle should know better…
