(Thanks to the person who sent me a tip about this article!) Jessica Alba is featured on the June 2008 cover of Allure Magazine, where she actually talks about her body, her pregnancy and her life.

Most interestingly, however, is the small glimpse she gives us into her pre-baby diet days. Of course everyone wants to know what a super-skinny celebrity eats (or doesn’t eat) to stay so skinny, right?

Jessica’s old diet was quite simple. According to this article, Jessica used to have coffee for breakfast, yogurt for lunch and dinner would lbe her only “real” meal. The following quote is taken from the story when the writer and Jessica were discussing her recent pregnancy:

There are other changes. Jessica is actually eating three meals a day. “Before this,” she says, “it was coffee in the morning, yogurt for lunch, and the only meal was dinner. It was because of my schedule; I never had the time.”

This would be considered a starvation diet in some people’s opinions… so I’d love to hear what you all have to say!

Personally, I can’t but wonder if she will be using the same diet to slim back down now that she has given birth.

The Allure article does give some interesting insight into Jessica’s thoughts on her body and sexuality, so I’d highly recommend reading it if you are at all curious about her thoughts on what it is to be every man’s fantasy!

Here is another photo of Jessica from last year:

I don’t buy it. Who eats the same thing every day? And undoubtedly she will go on a starvation diet after her baby is born to get back to her former shape. What choice does she have?

Thats interesting. I remember reading somewhere else that she said she, “Ate brownies all the time”. But yeah eating only yogurt and probably a salad with some chicken for lunch would deffinately make you skinny.

Do you think she will get back to that diet?

  4. Lulu | 11/06/08

I wouldn’t quite deem it a starvation diet (though technically it would be unless dinner was HUGE) but that’s definitely not enough, and I guarantee it had nothing to do with time. It doesn’t take all that much more time to eat a sandwich or salad than to eat a yogurt.

  5. Caroline | 11/06/08

    She’s so beautiful.

  6. Hailey | 11/06/08

no wonder she looks the way she does in the first picture. Sounds unhealthy.

Kinda funny that she’s seen as one of the most healthy, apprently, she’s not

  7. Hailey | 11/06/08

but you cant believe everything you read ;)

  8. smilesalot | 11/06/08

Ugh–why would she say that to a magazine knowing that young girls will read and emulate? Gross and NOT healthy.

  9. Petal | 11/06/08

    Her previous diet sounds unhealthy.

Oh. I practically eat the same thing everyday. I’m a creature of habit. I like my routines. However, unlike Jessica, I eat three full meals a day.

  10. mia | 11/06/08

She’s perfect and of course she’s eating like a bird. So would I if I it made me look like that!

  11. Dooky | 11/06/08

    this chick too damn skinny

  12. Dawn | 11/06/08

I thought she once said she ‘loved to cook - I made (some chicken dish) last night etc etc’ ? This is confusing. The tabloids just just agree on one story. Or maybe she should stop telling everyone different things.

  13. Bruna | 11/06/08

Well… that’s a nice diet for like a week to drop down some pounds faster… but to go through that every single day sounds unhealthy to me.
I bet she’ll do it again to drop the baby weight.

  14. Coco | 11/06/08

The outline of her arm looks photoshopped on the 2nd pic. Still, I think she has a great body in these pix.
I do think she will slim back down quickly. She’s had a frown on her face most of the way through her pregnancy. I bet she cant wait to get her pre pregnancy body back.

  15. Laura | 11/06/08

    That’s straight-up starvation.

  16. Cossey | 11/06/08

    This is one hot girl!!!!

  17. sarah | 11/06/08

    shes perfect
and i dont believe she admitted to that
however she did admit that she was anorexic so i wouldnt be surprised if that actually is what she ate

  18. Angela | 11/06/08

Anorexics or those with disordered eating are going to lie (especially if they’re a celebrity) about what they eat!!! It’s one of the first things they’ll do!!! So the conflicting tabloid stories make perfect sense. But she’s being honest now about what she use to eat.
Hopefully she has gained some sense during her pregnancy and will be healthier, but judging by the way she was hitting the gym and her obvious unhappiness throughout her entire pregnancy - I highly doubt it.
Ah the curse of the celebrity.

  19. Spectra | 11/06/08

It’s not that weird to eat similar things every day…I eat almost the same thing every day too, but I eat a heck of a lot more than a coffee and a yogurt and dinner. Geez, no wonder she was so frickin’ skinny.

At least she’s eating healthier now that she’s pregnant. It shows she’s willing to put her strange, disordered eating aside for at least 9 months. But, she’ll probably want to get back in her skinny jeans ASAP so I’m guessing right after her kid pops out, she’ll go back to the coffee and yogurt thing.

  20. nikki | 11/06/08

she addmitted to being a recovering anorexic so i do believe that. i did that for last year and lost about 20 pounds in 2-3 weeks. she looks amazing in the top picture. i want her legs. she must have wanted to kill herself during her pregnancy.

  21. Alex | 11/06/08

i don’t believe her….she had anorexia many years ago, and it messed up her kidneys and body. She also changes her diet frequently….she’ll cut out carbs, then she’ll change her diet to “everything in moderation”, then she’ll resort to the “half of a plate” (going out to dinner often, but eating half of that food on the plate.) She may have eaten very little before pregnancy, but keep in mind she had a tight schedule, she was filming several movies at once. It’s evident she lost a lot of weight, and that’s probably because she was eating little for a couple of months.

Also, keep in mind…her family is heavily overweight and some are even obese. so she can’t take in as many as most people, she probably has a “slow metabolism” however, her pre-pregnancy diet was too little for anyone…she should of aimed to eat 1200-1500 cals a day.

  23. Alex | 11/06/08

P.S- i also think she doesn’t look extremely skinny and bony. Hence, i don’t believe she ate that little….at one point, i cut out my cals drastically (but i still managed to eat more than Jessica’s “pre-baby diet”) and i became really bony in the sternum and hip bones…. Also, Jessica is naturally pear-shaped like me. Hence, if she was eating that little, her upper body would’ve gotten disgustingly bony and the bikini pics of her don’t make it seem like that.

Also, if she ate that little, how would she be able to menstruate and get pregnant?

  25. healthyisbeautiful | 11/06/08

There’s no way she was eating so little that she lost her period (I mean obviously, her body was capable of carrying a child) but I’m assuming she was eating between 1000 and 1300 calories per day. That’s not enough for a woman of her height and stature, it’s no wonder she was so thin.

  26. healthyisbeautiful | 11/06/08

Oh, and I’m not going to brag about how much (or how little) I used to eat, but when I was in high school, I was about 5′8.5 and would eat a diet of about 1400 calories a day. I ate exactly the same thing every day at the same time, exercised the same amount and held steady at 118 pounds. That’s about 10 pounds below my lowest healthy weight, and I was about her build back then. I still got my period, so I definitely believe her. It’s perfectly plausible that she ate a diet like that and maintained her weight. They say she’s around 5′7, it wouldn’t surprise me if she was 110 - 115 pounds pre pregnancy.

  27. Lina | 11/06/08

When you have the money to hire a personal chef and/or other food services to save yourself time, and all it really takes is 5-10 minutes to scarf down a meal (even a protein shake), then there is NO excuse for not eating.

She’s been known for having E.D. issues over the years. I don’t have an article on hand to quote from, but I’m pretty sure that she admitted to starving herself during her Dark Angel days, and struggling with it off and on in general.

  28. amy | 11/06/08

when her diet had more food in it, she was more muscular. simple. she eats more when shes working on an action movie usually. look at her in into the blue, shes not skinny there but toned.

  29. secrethoughts | 11/06/08

I doubt this is true, and even if it is whatever. She looked great, and she was obviously healthy enough to carry a child.

  30. veda | 11/06/08

for such drastic diet measures, she wasn’t even THAT skinny. and that’s a lame excuse in 2008 with all the meal-in-a-bar, meal-in-a-shake options you have that are loaded with nutrients for busy people who “don’t have time to eat”

at least she knows she only gets hired for her looks, she certainly works harder at staying thin than she ever has for a movie role

  31. JKristina | 11/06/08

    to Mrs. Doubtfire:

I eat the same thing everyday, although i am usually so damn hungry. i vary with my diet but have certain foods, and cheat foods, that i eat. its possible.

  32. Alex | 11/06/08

healthyisbeautiful, keep in mind….her “pre-pregnancy” diet appears to be a lot less than 1400 calories, and 1400 calories alone is very little.

  33. Alex | 11/06/08

  34. Alex | 11/06/08

msgirl, that’s a great idea…. if you want to lose muscle mass and screw up your metabolism….i guarantee you that you won’t lose bodyfat that way…..why not do it healthily? that way you can eat well and look good (not bony and gross)

  35. eireann | 11/06/08

I can believe that. I always thought she had to work hard to keep her body the way it is. She doesn’t look naturally skinny and she is always talking about her family being overweight. She seemed to gain a lot near the end of her pregnancy. Bet she will be super super skinny in no time. Agree with the post about her looking miserable all the time she was pregnant. Bet she cant wait to start starving herself again…

  36. Josie | 11/06/08

I know lots of anorexics who eat more than she does….

  37. Maxx05 | 11/06/08

She looks great in the pictures but that is WAY too little to be eating. There is no reason to have to eat that little to stay thin. I hope she’s doing better now.

  38. Swanhilda | 11/06/08

If she keeps the starving up, it will backfire.

  39. Elaine | 11/06/08

I know lots of people, male and female that eat pretty much the same thing every day. One guy I know has a simple bowl of oatmeal/w/water for breakfast, a yogurt of lunch and his only complete meal is dinner. He isn’t trying to be fashionably thin. It’s just a habit of sorts - his dinners vary somewhat, perhaps Jessica’s do, too.

  40. me again | 11/06/08

why would this suprise anyone? there are very few women who can acually eat what they want and stay thin.. alessandra ambrosio comes to mind, but even she has said she does weight training periodically. you can tell who has to be cutting back on their calorie consumption just by looking at their history.. ie; nicole richie, she was “plump”, then super skinny, but then she gained it back, now post pregnancy, she losing it again.. thats someone who works on it. honestly, i would be disappointed if some of them didn’t. some people are only interesting because of their weight and/or style. so therefore it’s their job to look good. And for those celebrities who are serious actresses… we all know what the camera can do to a normal sized woman… and who rally wants to look at that… NOT ME!! i wanna see beautiful thin, healthy looking women in hollywood. So therefore if it means they need to be 10 lbs. under weight to look average, then so be it! i would do it in a heart beat for the kind of money they get paid! I’m not saying that starving themselves is the right way to do it, but a yogurt and a dinner isn’t what i call starving… it could be worse. if it works for her… i say go for it!!

P.S. Sorry for the rant, i’m not proana at all… i just think it’s ridiculous when fat people talk about how unhealthy very thin women are…. it hits a nerve…

  41. ml-rb | 11/06/08

It just contradicts the tabloid articles I’ve read about her and her healthy diet and exercise habits. Lies–all lies–we are FED so many lies from everywhere who knows what think anymore!

  42. pet peeve | 11/06/08

I think her pre-baby diet is probably true. My hubby has a coffee and yogurt in the morning, and that’s it for the rest of the day. He has a small dinner (about 2/3 what I’d eat), and he is not starving himself. His metabolism’s just slowed down make every calorie count. Though he’s slim (5/8, 152lbs), he is nowhere near skinny.

  43. jenni | 11/06/08

she always says how her eating disorder is in her past, but obviously, with coffee for breakfast, yogurt for lunch, and a “real” meal for dinner is still pretty disordered eating. i’m glad she did what was good for her baby though. a lot of young girls and women tend to only eat one real meal, but as you get older, that’ll really catch up with you…so she needs to watch out.

  44. Tucker | 11/06/08

Funny since her interview from her People magazine cover when she was first pregnant said that pre-preggo she would have a large breakfast, no lunch, and salad for dinner.

    Liar!

  45. ValerieSara | 11/06/08

I think it is Dr. Barry Sears of The Zone Diet who maintains that the vast majority of people eat the same 20 to 30 foods for life. Think about it and you may come to the conclusion that that may even be a very generous guesstimate. I have no problem believing that she ate the same few things every day and on schedule, sort of ritualistic-style, if you will. She probably became crabby during pregnancy because her natural urges to nuture her baby trumped her desire to eat next to nothing. Soon, she’ll once again weigh zero pounds/stone before she can say “I’m just a natural born skeleton.”

  46. Frankie | 11/06/08

I do this too, my only real meal is lunch..
I don’t get too hung up on the type of food tho just avoiding sweets and over eating etc..

  47. lili | 11/06/08

She is not skinny at all in these photos. Slim, but not skinny. She is SO boring looking.

  48. Soviet Rocket | 11/06/08

*****ME AGAIN, I hear you, but it’s not that very thin women are necessarily unhealthy, but this diet is just not a healthy way to eat. Please, I mean no disrespect, but the better way would be to eat 3 balanced small meals a day with 2 healty snacks, so that you are stoking the fire every 4 to 5 hours. This isn’t about me, but I will reference myself and tell you that I am 5′3″ and 99 pounds. I weight train 3 times a week 30 to 45 minutes each session and about the same of cardio. I have four kids, a dog, cat and husband and that alone is cardio, lol. Can I eat whatever I want? No, but I am never hungry and I’m very well nourished. It just scares me to think that this way of eating can be considered healthy or provide adequate nutrition.

  50. #1 | 11/06/08

Eating only one meal a day is not healthy–Period. I always viewed her as a blessedly thin, yet healthy woman–I guess she just starves herself. The truth is sad, what is more sad is that people think this is okay or cool not to eat in order to stay “beautiful and thin”. We’re messed up.

  51. Hailey | 11/06/08

I just wanted to add something lol if thats true, its a lame excuse to say you dont have time cause eating a fruit or some yogurt takes about the same amounth of time as drinkin coffee, so hah! lol and she could switch her yogurt lunch for something else.

  52. sazzy! | 11/06/08

thats actually EXACTLY what i eat, and it sounds a lot less when you read it. it isnt a healthy diet at all, as a matter of fact I have lost my period and have yet to get it back (since december)

  53. Teed | 11/06/08

I just had to burst out laughing when I read that she gained a lot of weight after she started eating like a healthy human should. Granted she was pregnant, but it just shows she is supposed to be on the thicker side. Yogurt and coffee only???? Thats completely disgusting, I’m sure she had a little bit of a variety. Who knows what to believe.

  54. breads | 11/06/08

ah to be a woman or even a man in hollywood…a skewed attitude to food/deit is just an inevitability of being in such an industry and probably living in LA
they get paid alot to be anorexics or work out like it is an addiction, so i don’t really care it only ges on my tits when people believe thay have to be thesame

  55. fashionista | 11/06/08

Oh my gosh I love Jessica Alba. She’s always looks so perfect! She’s so fabulous. Love her.

  56. lambman | 11/06/08

I just hate her so much. She’s not that pretty and has a horrible personality. Honestly she’s probably tied with Tom Cruise as my least favorite celebrities.

I hope isn’t able to loose the baby weight because being skinny is the only reason anybody ever gave a crap about her. I’d rather have somebody skinny and interesting

  57. me again | 11/06/08

    re:ValerieSara
i think perhaps you misunderstood where i was coming from.. i was refering to the “omg.. so thats how she stays thin..” comments
my point was more directed towards a duh.. of course she doesnt eat perfectly.. she’s obviously someone who’s weight fluctuates, and isn’t naturally thin, so apparently she cutting back… of course it’s better to eat several small meals, but she made it clear that the reason she only has coffee, yogurt, and one small meal was because she doesn’t have time. that takes a lot of time, to either prepare of have prepared all those meals…
the fact that several people have called her diet “unhealthy”.. just aggrivates me, sure it not the BEST but it”s far from UNHEALTHY!! She’s an actress.. she can’t be a normal government set standard weight and still look thin..
it’s annoying when people act like celebs should eat normally and still look abnormally thin. especially when you’re referring to someone who is predisposed to carrying a little more weight. it’s never gonna happen. they’re gonna do whatever is easiest and fastest. why?.. because that’s part of what they are paid to do… they have to be thinner than thin. i hope i’ve made my point clearer… that it shouldn’t suprise anyone how she eats… everyone in hollywood does, that’s how they make their money and gain publicity.

  58. jenn | 11/06/08

honestly, this is so cruel of me to say but i REALLLLLY hope she has a lot of trouble losing her baby weight. I read that most of her family is obese so I hope she remains fat. Or at least, not be able to rid of her cellulite. I’m horrible aren’t I? Oh well. She’s a talentless, boring, VAIN woman and karma is a BITCH

  59. beth | 11/06/08

Yeah, I lost 25 pounds in a month on the coffee, yogurt, dinner diet. And I was about as skinny as she was, so I believe her for once!!

  60. who? | 11/06/08

sazzy - honey, go get help for your eating disorder that is forming before it spirals further.

that IS a starvation diet according to anybody. except people with EDs who still think their eating habits are normal even though they have distorted thoughts.
For those of you that say, “well if it works” - yeah it works if all you want to do for life is achieve a level of thinness. not if you want to truly be happy, have energy and peace in your mind, be spontaneous, and think of anything else but food. How selfish!!! And I’ve dealt and overcome 15 years of anorexia so it’s not that I don’t know what it’s like. It’s selfish!

  61. who? | 11/06/08

and…..even though I actually believe this article (can’t believe she admitted it to the fans that look up to her and will now try the same thing) but it just goes to show you not to believe everything you read. She said in another article I read that breakfast was her biggest meal of the day, a light lunch and then a salad for dinner.
    Hm……

  62. who? | 11/06/08

    Me Again -

How dare you assume that all of the people that realize and express this isn’t heathy are fat! How awful are you?!
I’m perfectly healthy, have worked in the fitness industry for 10 years and am in no one’s eyes fat. I would bet the same goes for most of the others.

  63. J | 11/06/08

interesting, she says that the reason why she ate like that was because her schedule was too busy? yet she suuuure always has time to exercise, so i’m sure if she wants to eat (especially with all kinds of assistants/help around her) the girl could definitely eat….

she’s already admitted to battling an eating disorder (bulimia) so i’m not surprised at all… i thought she was getting too thin pre-baby…this explains a lot

  64. Angela | 11/06/08

I agree entirely with you “who?”

To me - that seems like an average amount to eat a day, if not too much BECAUSE I’ve been through an ED. Not because I logically think it’s healthy or normal.

Reality is, it is NOT a healthy diet. Whatsoever.

If it ‘works’ for her to stay that thin it doesn’t matter, she was unhealthy and was ruining her body inside and out, physically and mentally. It was/is always so obvious how unhappy she was and I can guarantee this is because of her ED and all further problems would have stemmed from this.

This is the problem with society, they focus more on how a person looks and if they approve then the healthiness/unhealthiness of their diet is negligible.

  65. pam | 11/06/08

    to who:

—”For those of you that say, “well if it works” - yeah it works if all you want to do for life is achieve a level of thinness. not if you want to truly be happy, have energy and peace in your mind, be spontaneous, and think of anything else but food.”

there’s a big difference between you doing it to be thin and therefore being unhappy, and her doing it because she makes millions from looking how she does.

    also…

“and…..even though I actually believe this article (can’t believe she admitted it to the fans that look up to her and will now try the same thing) but it just goes to show you not to believe everything you read. She said in another article I read that breakfast was her biggest meal of the day, a light lunch and then a salad for dinner.
    Hm…… ”

for one thing, diffent articles can make it out like whatever they want… for another thing, it would only make sense that she changes her diet often,… her weight shows it…i did’t hear her proclaim in either atricle that that was how she has ALWAYS eaten… just that that’s how she was currnetly eating… and then (in allure) she was reflecting on her thinnest times and how she got that way.

  66. talitha | 11/06/08

She is thin but perfect. I’m so jealous, think I’m gonna go workout now

  67. sazzy! | 11/06/08

the diet i adapted actually came out of becoming vegetarian and not liking most of the vegetarian friendly foods. I cant tolerate the faux “meats” and “chickens” so i stick to things i find tasty. It just so happened that along the way i began to be less hungry and eat less. I dont find jessica’s diet, or mine for that matter to be restrictive or any sort of starvation diet. I eat what i like and when I’m hungry. I know lots of people who eat one meal a day

  68. Angela | 11/06/08

    pam

    - there is NOT a difference between someone doing it to be thin and Jessica Alba doing it because she makes millions from it.

IT IS STILL UNHEALTHY and if she continued along that path it would kill her.

    Why can’t people understand that?

The reasoning behind something like this makes no justification.

  69. me again | 11/06/08

    RE: who

read my comment again… the only place i refrenced anyone being fat was in a “P.S.”,i had gone on a long rant due to some personal experienes… i would have reffered to “all YOU fat people ” if i meant everyone who was commenting. i was simply stating a pet peeve. i hate the “big is beautiful” idea. i’m sorry if it offended you, but seriously, i think you should take a step back and breathe…geeze!! :)

  70. pam | 11/06/08

    re:angela
i think it’s rude of you to assume that she has an eating disorder…. i don’t think she looks annorexic at all, sure she may not have gotten that skinny the heathiest way possible, but she’s not annorexic, and she’s made alot of money off her looks… for someone to look at her and think that they’ll be happy if they are annorexic ( as if that’s the only way to get thinner) is stupid. i was commenting on the fact that “who” shouldn’t judge jessica for being thin, just because she(who) decided to not eat and suprise suprise.. it didn’t make her happy… annorexia won’t make you happy…. looking like jessica alba AND making millions doing it will.

  71. Angela | 11/06/08

    Wow.
    Pam.
Big assumption there - looking like Jessica Alba and making millions doing it will make you happy???
Ever heard the phrase “money can’t buy happiness?”
Have you looked at photos of her over the years?
What percentage would you say she actually looks happy in?
You don’t have to look emaciated to have an eating disorder. Which, btw, she has looked rather emaciated at different points in her life. Plus, she has admitted to an ED so yes it is fair enough of me to assume she has/had an ED.

gotta tell ya, my fam is pretty loaded and we are no where close to being happy. my mom was a model, i modeled…so we are pretty and rich, yet not happy. i’m with Angela on this one.

  73. Angela | 11/06/08

    Ps. Pam
Calling a anorexic stupid for looking at a celebrity and wanting to be like them and ‘becoming’ anorexic?
You clearly have no idea what goes on inside someones head with an eating disorder.
Before you comment on something that is so sensitive to most likely a lot of posters, gain some knowledge on it.

  74. pam | 11/06/08

money can’t buy you happiness…. well that’s arguable.. but i don’t call coffee, yogurt, and dinner annorexic. and i’m not gonna judge her off her past and say she has an ed, and disregard what she’s saying she’s eating now… further more, that’s just stupid for you to decide that she’s not happy based off what?.. paps pictures? i wouldn’t be smiling at all the people who are invading my privacy either..

  75. JKristina | 11/06/08

why are so many people being so judgemental?? After all, everyone on this site has body issues (or we wouldnt care enough to look at these pics)

I find it hard to believe that everyone on this site eats healthy.

  76. Angela | 11/06/08

Well then obviously money can’t buy happiness if she’s not happy with people snapping her pictures.
    You’re right, I would’t be happy either.
I think I just proved my point on that.

  77. pam | 11/06/08

angela… oh my gosh you know who i am too? you really know my past, what i have or haven’t suffered from! wow… you do have in sight.

  78. Angela | 11/06/08

No Pam I don’t know your past or what you’ve suffered through but if you have been through something similar that’s even worse because you’d know how hard it is and what it’s like. And are still being insensitive.

  79. pam | 11/06/08

i think she’s probrably very happy with her life… i’m sure a few bad moments don’t ruin all the great things she has going for her.. the only point you proved is that you make ALOT of unfounded assumptions about people you don’t know.

  80. Angela | 11/06/08

And you have to LOOK like death before it’s a problem?
Whatever, I’ve been through it and am still in recovery and I’m telling you right now that I felt you were being insensitive when you said
“for someone to look at her and think that they’ll be happy if they are annorexic ( as if that’s the only way to get thinner) is stupid.”
How rude of you to call someone with a mental ilness stupid.

  81. Hirsch | 11/06/08

i love her “Skinny look” but let’s face it. it’s not natural. back in her dark angels she had more curves. she must work HARD for that thin ass body.

  82. Courtney | 11/06/08

When women drink only coffee for breakfast it is because they are trying to be thin. I mean - do you really think she wouldn’t want a bagel or something to go with that coffee? It is not a time issue. It is a fear issue. Fear that eating more than coffee will lead to more eating and getting fat. It’s not about having no time to eat, being healthy or anything but simply wanting to be skinny. I mean doesn’t everyone who reads this website want that? If not, why are you on this website?

  83. pam | 11/06/08

“for someone to look at her and think that they’ll be happy if they are annorexic ( as if that’s the only way to get thinner) is stupid.”

means the thought is stupid… not the person…the thinking is off… IT WONT MAKE YOU HAPPY… enough said… ED’s are bad…. they wont make you happy… anyone who has battled with one would agree with that.

i do believe anyway, if you or anyone else is battling with an ED, and are still sensitive about it, you should probably find another website to be checking out… this is called THESKINNYWEBSITE its all about body image..
it’s not healthy to be here obsessing about weight issues.. the issue is obviously gonna come up..

  84. Teed | 11/06/08

you guys make me feel better about not having cable :-D

  85. pam | 11/06/08

i dont know if my last post will show but so you know
“for someone to look at her and think that they’ll be happy if they are annorexic ( as if that’s the only way to get thinner) is stupid.”

that means that the thought is stupid.. not the person… their thinking is off.. obviously…

ed’s are bad… they wont make you happy… and btw this is just a thought; but if someone is still battling with an ed or is still sensitive about it, this is definately not a good website to be on… its called THESKINNYWEBSITE… the topic is gonna come up.

  86. Natasha | 11/06/08

well, she looked great, so it obviously worked. takes a lot of discipline but what a bod that was.

  87. Jane Doe | 11/06/08

Oh I love her in the second picture. Yes she is thin, but I can’t help but want to look like her.

  88. pam | 11/06/08

moderator… you can delete one of those last two comments, whichever one you prefer…

  89. rika | 11/06/08

im surprised she isnt thinner if that’s all she eats. her metabolism must REALLY suck. shes like 5′6/5′7. that is insane. and i think she’s an idiot. she’s killing her metabolism, when she gets older and decides to eat for a change, she’ll blow up like a balloon. she’s so full of herself it makes me sick. “how she feels about being part of every guys fantasy” come on. shes so overrated.

  90. hongzuixi | 12/06/08

    she looks too thin…

  91. Tracey | 12/06/08

LOL at all of you who believe the tabloids and are calling the celebrity a liar. So, so sad that anyone would believe that tripe that they write, let alone take it so seriously.

  92. MelodySoul | 12/06/08

Unless her one meal a day was huge (which I doubt) it sounds like she was definitely consuming less than 1000 calories a day, much less! That is scary! BTW you don’t have to be literally skin and bones and 80 lbs to have an eating disorder. I watched a documentary about an eating disorder clinic (rehab) and the girls that were admitted to the clinic were heavier than a lot of the super skinny celebs! Something to think about…

  93. MelodySoul | 12/06/08

    me again:

I’m sure you would be the first to point out how “unhealthy” an overweight woman was just by looking at her. Nobody ever said Alba was unhealthy because of her size but because of how little she was eating. You just can’t dispute that. You say it’s a sore spot for you but don’t you think it is a sore spot for an overweight person even more so? Or do they just deserve it because clearly they are lazy gluttonous slobs? *rolls eyes*

  94. blabla | 12/06/08

    totally agree with natasha.

  95. Becky Bloomwood | 12/06/08

You all have issues with the way you look - this is hitting a nerve, if you were happy with how you looked you wouldnt even bother Judging her. The world is out of control OBSESSED with what other people eat, how they exercise, what they DONT eat.

Its sick. Leave her alone, and any other celeb. As long as they can sleep at night with their decisions, so should you, or change your ways, until then…SHUT UP

  96. ayla | 12/06/08

i don’t believe that’s what she ate, i’m sure there were daily variations according with her mind set and her willing power, but she was on some kind of “extreme diet” like that one for sure, if you could even call it a diet because that’s far from healthy.

it’s sad that even someone who could hire a personal trainer, a chef and even an endocrine for herself still feels that she needs to do such kind of thing. it’s sad for herself specially, because there’s no way she could be totally happy with that lifestyle and that pressure, and it’s sad that she also did it to be up to the standars of beauty of this society. i wonder which kind of beauty and bodies are we all looking at.

anyway, i hope the pregnancy helped her in some kind of way although she never looked very happy or confortable with it, so i guess she’ll go back to that, because you can see that it’s not in her constitution to be that thin.

(sorry for the long post :) )

  97. Lazara | 12/06/08

That is definately a starvation diet! You can’t get enough nutricients with only one real meal a day. And only coffee as breakfast is surely not healthy.

  98. Lazara | 12/06/08

Oh, and I don’t buy the ‘I just didn’t have time’. That is just a really lame excuse.

  99. Sophie | 12/06/08

Pam, people do not become anorexic because they think it will make them happy. It’s a dangerous mental illness that develops from irrational thoughts and it’s not a choice.

I think it’s crazy how these celebs claim not to eat much coz ‘they don’t have time’. Surely they can spare 10 minutes to grab a proper sandwich or eat of bowl of cereal? Funny how they find hours of spare time to spend at the gym.

  100. Sacharomyces cerevisiae | 12/06/08

she is an annoying, lying, average-looking c*nt. Thank you for your attention

  101. Sophie | 12/06/08

Jessica has also said she hasn’t worked out in months….so maybe she cut her calories drastically because she felt bad about eating a lot and not working out.

Jessica has also been really busy…..she filmed so many movies at the same time, and was running from set to set constantly. However, i do agree that she could’ve ate more if she wanted to (Calorie-dense sandwich instead of yogurt) Cereal instead of coffee etc.

  102. nhana | 12/06/08

is the first picture her post-baby body? She must have lost the weight really fast…she looks great - but just a litlle too skinny on the second pic…

  103. biba46 | 12/06/08

I think she will have to go on that diet again to get her previous skinny body. I think that Jessica Alba really depends on her image, since she isn’t a good actress afterall.

  104. biba46 | 12/06/08

I think it’s the celebrities themselves who put so much importance in their body image. I mean, people don’t really care if they are super thin, otherwise Scarlett Johanson wouldn’t be that admired….

  105. real | 12/06/08

I just hope she won’t use this diet now, because it is not healthy for her or baby…

  106. Alice | 12/06/08

god i pity the baby if it’s a girl. she doesn’t seem like shes gonna be a really good mother….

  107. Emily | 12/06/08

Whatever works for her. I mean seriously, who cares how how she got so skinny? It comes as no shock to me, that she ate, less than 1,000 calories a day. I mean hasn’t the thought of sewing our mouth shut crossed all of our minds at one point or another? It’s a one hell of a way to lose weight, but if she has the control and discipline, good for ger.

  108. Bell | 12/06/08

Dont believe everything you read. Sure maybe she is on this diet, jeez that what i had yesterday and today, but I sure as heck dont look like her. Maybe for a movie she wanted to drop some pounds so she consumed less calories for a few months. whats wrong with that? people do alot crazier things for the career. she also had a rocky relationship with her boyfriend (now husband) maybe she lost her appitite. why is everyone up in arms over this article, bickering over her diet like anyone of us know what she really eats.

  109. ValerieSara | 12/06/08

    RE: ME AGAIN
I get your point better now. I guess the only place we differ is my position is that one can be thin, even skinny, and eat a very healty diet if they are careful to eat some good carbs (veggies, fruit, etc), lean protein and a bit of good fat (almonds, olive oil, etc) at every meal and snack. It’s really not a matter of time to eat correctly; it’s more a matter of time in learning how to eat properly (without even so much as cooking if time is an issue). But I do see your point and it’s understandable to me.

  110. Cossey | 12/06/08

I can’t stop staring at her “head-room” in the first picture!

  111. mk | 12/06/08

I use to survive on one meal a day. I had little choice living in expensive southern california making a receptionist salary. I would have lunch with co-workers and save the left overs for dinner. I drank gallons of coffee. It was hard but I got use to it and I was very slim. Pretty sad now that I think about it but it didnt bother me at the time.

  112. Heather | 12/06/08

WOW! A smile (in the 2nd pic). Something not seen too often from her.

  113. Persephone | 12/06/08

she really isn’t that thin and her diet doesn’t surprise me, if that is what she really eats.

  114. M | 12/06/08

After hearing about this, it’s quite sad how people still think she looks fantastic and “perfect.” Near-starvation dieting is hardly perfect to me!

  115. MSgirl | 12/06/08

Editing my comment was straight up BULLS***!! I didn’t make any Pro-Ana comments whatsoever. I don’t mess or promote that crap. I simply said that I would be starting my MiserALBA diet tomorrow. You do way worse by saying how lovely these lollipop head girls look and loving their extremely frail appearances. I simply agreed. HYPOCRITE!!

  116. Kerry | 12/06/08

I think she is to thin but I heard when she was filming the tv show dark angel that she was anorexic and she looked it at the time. That diet that was described in that magazine is a starvation diet. To her what is a real meal calories wise? I do think she will be a great mother and she probally has learned a lot about life with her food struggle and she knows how to protect her child from that

  117. MSgirl | 12/06/08

People on this site comment on how their unhealthy workouts, eating habits, etc. all the time. It’s an opinion/discussion forum. My comment was mild, lighten up.

  118. Swanhilda | 12/06/08

I used to eat nothing for breakfast, an apple for lunch, and then have dinner. But my dinner was a Lean Cuisine frozen dinner. 400 calories total. It was starvation, and I did this for over a year, and I was not quite as thin as Jessica A. So I do believe she ate this way, and it is indeed starvation.

  119. Pats603 | 12/06/08

Firstly, yogurt is not a meal, it’s a snack, so essentially she was eating one meal a day. On top of that, she clearly works out 6-7 days a week with a personal trainer. It’s no wonder she’s so thin. What a joke that she is considered curvy/healthy. And men wonder why women have such poor body images.

  120. Heather | 12/06/08

Dinner was probably a salad or something healthy… So probably less than 500 calories a day. That’s anorexic. She seemed a lot prettier when I thought of her eating like a normal person.

  121. jess | 12/06/08

although her diet is a bit too extreme, i have to admit she looks absolutely flawless!
i would kill to have a body like hers lol

  122. Keeley | 12/06/08

Celebrities who are that thin starve themselves. They may not have a mental eating disorder, but to be that thin (in general) it’s obvious you must starve.

  123. MelodySoul | 12/06/08

Also I am really sick of this “no time” excuse. We see celebs out shopping all the damn time, walking around with their Starbucks skinny lattes in hand. Even if she was filming nonstop, they have catering carts on set that serve food for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Give me a break.

  124. MisStatement | 12/06/08

I guess celebrities just can’t win. Everyone would be saying how full of it she is if she just went with “I eat whatever I want, I am naturally thin.”

  125. Jordan | 12/06/08

I had forgotten how thin she was. Wow.
Her shoes are awful in the second picture and give me the same feeling I get when looking at 3 or 4 year old Elles and InStyles in the doctors office. Ick. We wore that shiz.

  126. mireille | 12/06/08

Every person I know who is very thin either eats like a bird all day, or does the Alba one meal a day plan. It’s a shame we can’t go back to the Renaissance perception of beauty…all of those paintings of nude women with jelly rolls all over the place. The fact is those women were probably far healthier than the skinny celebrities today, who with their lack of eating lose their periods, their bone mass, their muscle mass - which also weakens a very important muscle - the heart. The popular standard for body size has been set to a dangerously low (and near impossible to achieve) level. Even knowing all this, I would LOVE to look like Jessica Alba…damn it!

  127. sarah | 12/06/08

    MisStatement you are right.
just like how if they gain weight they are too fat, and need to tone up/lose weight whatever
if they are too thin, they should go eat a sandwich….
but i guess thats just the way things work

  128. beatrice | 12/06/08

I’m satisfyed with Alba’s answer because it at least makes her seem real. i believe her now, I didn’t believe her when she claimed to eat junk food yet still be that skinny. It just proves that nobody is born with a perfect body and you have to work hard/eat little to get that body type.

  129. Rian | 12/06/08

I personally don’t believe anything I read in a tabloid. In a beauty magazine like Allure, however, I’m a bit more inclined to believe it. (Don’t they do fact-checking or something like that?)

People are never going to agree on what is and is not a healthy diet, and this comment thread supports this theory! I just say live and let live… eat and let eat. :-P

  130. mars in velvet | 12/06/08

yeah well she looks like a fat cow now doesn’t she.

  131. Rian | 12/06/08

MS Girl, it wasn’t the actual comment itself that was pro-ana, but the way you stated it. I wouldn’t have deleted it but I had a few complaints - 3 of them, in fact. Sorry to offend you!

  132. lovely | 12/06/08

jessica alba has had an eating disorder before, it was extreme dieting on the verge of anorexia, so no its not because she doesnt have enough time to eat, its in her head…its really sad, i hope she’s healthier after having a child..xox

  133. Mary | 12/06/08

FREAKS! What is wrong with a lot of you girls? It does not look attractive to be this skinny. You know why? Because most of the girls who look this way have to practically starve themselves to look like this and that is NOT healthy. It would be very hard to find a man who would choose a stick skinny girl over someone with curves like Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, Scarlett or Jlo. The sad thing is Jessica Alba used to have a much sexier, curvier body when she was in Into the Blue, Honey and Sin City. I really hope she doesn’t get back down to her Good Luck Chuck weight!

  134. stepho | 12/06/08

No wonder she always looked so grumpy. Her diet left no room for adequate fiber! It was constipation, not attitude.

  135. stepho | 12/06/08

No wonder she always looked so grumpy. Her diet left no room for adequate fiber! It was constipation, not attitude.

  136. Shannon | 12/06/08

I have to say that I think everyone is blowing her “menu” way out of proportion. I cant begin to tell you how many people that I know who throw a yogurt in their bag before they leave in the morning (to eat for lunch at their desk), grab a coffee on their way to work and thats it until dinner. Doesnt sound that unrealistic to me.

  137. jjj | 12/06/08

She looks really good in these pictures. Being that she can control her diet to allow for the health of her child, she is not anorexic.

  138. CUPCAKEcouture | 12/06/08

I believe she sort of followed the SKINNY BITCH diet.
It recommends fruits/tea for breakfast, a salad for lunch and something ‘heavier’ for dinner.

  139. rika | 12/06/08

Becky Bloomwood, if that is how you feel, why are you even on here? i dont really see any other reason. thats the point of this website. what else are we going to comment on? get a clue.

and idk if anyone brought this up yet, but she named her child honor….”because it was an honor to have her”. i think i just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

  140. BB | 13/06/08

You have to give it to her for being honest though…I hate celebs who say they can eat whatever they want and not gain weight (ahem… Sarah Jessica Parker!).

Everyone needs to quit it with the whole “this doesn’t sound healthy” crap! You guys are totally missing the point. This woman didn’t get to be number one in the search rankings by looking normal and healthy. Hollywood and society LOVE super skinny women - they give us something to envy and gossip about. If you didn’t love it why would you come on a site called theskinnywebsite? You don’t want thin women - you want extra-thin women.

I love Jessica Alba. If she wants to be this thin and she has the willpower to do it - more power to her.

  141. karo. | 13/06/08

Depending on the contence of that “one main meal” at the end of the day, (which very likely is a small very low fat low calorie meal, and very unlikely a massive three course dinner) this is definitely a starvation diet. It is good to see they are being honest instead of the usual “Oh gosh, I eat ALL the time! JUNK too!” that so many too skinny celebrities try to sell us.
It is also worrysome though, it’s not exactly promoting a healthy diet.

  142. austin | 13/06/08

she looks good in those pictures froms last year. she is really skinny, but she looks good that way.

  143. Holly | 13/06/08

I was not surprised when I read this article, because I have read others where Jessica said she wished she wasn’t so “curvy” and we are talking recent articles here. I relate to her, because lots of time people ignore how skinny she is cuz she is an arrow glass shape and has boobs. To be called “curvy” can be insulting to some people these days…curvy has somehow become the same thing as heavy. I love how Albad looks though…all sizes. She just has a crappy attitude.

  144. Holly | 13/06/08

Oh, did you guys know she uses body doubles in all her films so in the movie “the eye” that is not her body! She said in a interview its one of her best friends.

  145. kaybeecee | 13/06/08

Believe me, excessive calorie reduction bordering on starvation will catch up with most people. I was one of those girls who ate less than 500 calories a day–I was about 110 lbs and I’m fairly tall (5′9) from the age of 16 until I was 21 yrs old. I was never meant to be a skinny person, but I basically didn’t eat and drank diet soda all day. My metabolism slowed down so much that when I got pregnant at the age of 21 and I tried to eat like I “normal” healthy person, I gained 75 lbs. That was not too much fun (stretch mark galore!), but I’m glad I had a healthy baby. I’m back at a weight that is reasonable for me–fat by hollywood standards, I suppose, but I’m sick of trying to fit into some mold that I cannot squeeze myself into.
I’m only 39 years old and was diagnosed with osteoporosis last year–after breaking my foot from a minor ankle twist while running on the beach. You know what my doctor asked? “Did you have an eating disorder in your teens?”. Apparently they see early onset osteoporosis a lot from women who denied themselves much-needed calories/calcium at the critical age between adolescence and young adulthood. I could just KICK myself for being so short sighted!

  146. Alicia | 13/06/08

Re: me again who said: “She’s an actress.. she can’t be a normal government set standard weight and still look thin” … and that’s exactly where we go wrong. How on earth can we convince our children that it is ok not to be stick thin when there are people out there who say that actresses HAVE to be thin?

  147. Cookie | 13/06/08

kaybeecee, thanks for speaking up. We need more people to relay the message…we’ll see, ten years or so from now, this generation of young starving starlets will start to break ankles, etc., and hopefully the news media will make the connection for women everywhere.

  148. sassykate | 13/06/08

    mireille…
So true and too funny as well!!!!!!!!!!!! Kudos!

  149. madison | 13/06/08

doesn’t anybody else remember how less than a year ago she said she would only eat a large breakfast and a salad for dinner?? i remember reading this not too too long ago.

  150. #1 | 13/06/08

    Well put, Angela.
And, PAM there was no rude assumption made about whether or not Jessica Alba has an ed. She does, what she said she eats on a daily basis is factual evidence that she has an eating disorder. This means that it was not an assumption for Angela or anyone else to state the obvious–It is a fact.

  151. Shawna | 14/06/08

She is disgusting. I hope she did not continue this diet while pregnant. UNHEALTHY for mom and baby. Let’s think about the poor child here. Stop being selfish and give your baby some nutrition.

  152. me again | 14/06/08

    alicia:

“Re: me again who said: “She’s an actress.. she can’t be a normal government set standard weight and still look thin” … and that’s exactly where we go wrong. the camera adds extra weight, so to look like they weigh 115 lbs, they have to be 105 lbs. it’s an ugly world, but that’s the truth… plus can i just add… not that there aren’t many young girls that are battling with the pressure to be thin, but in my experience, there are ssssooooooo many more children out there who are overweight, and half the world is telling them it’s ok, to “not give in to the pressure of being thin.” ( not referring to your comment) some of those kids need to look at jessica alba or even hannah montana and see that it’s not ok to be over weight. no one plays outside anymore,… they make kids plus size clothing for christ’s sake!! so for me i think we have a bigger battle on our hands of teaching these kids (& parents) how to get healthy.
sorry just another rant of mine.

  153. Becky Bloomwood | 15/06/08

    mireille -
Why is women with rolls of fat more beautiful than, say, Audrey Hepburn? You are dilluded.
What you are desxrcibing is obese and unhealthy, which is why the women of those times died at a VERy young age. If you want to look like that go ahead, but dont fool yourself into thinking you are curvy and beautiful - its a fat, diabetes and heartattack waiting to happen look.

  154. Ashly | 15/06/08

I think she is very thin but she pulls it off well. I don’t find her diet unhealthy. I eat like that most of the time and I’m not dropping dead of hunger. I agree there are many obese children and it’s discusting but it’s partly the parents need to get off their butts and make their children go outside and turn off the freaking tv once in a while.

  155. Angela | 15/06/08

At the end of the day it’s not what you look like or even how much you weigh really. Each person’s body is different and functions differently. Eating the right amounts of the right types of food with regular exercise for your body is what matters. Exercise doesn’t exist as the sole purpose to lose weight, it is in fact there to build your general health, maintain correct functioning of your body systems and sustain your mental health and emotional well being.

It’s just a pity that todays society believes that what you look like determines how healthy you are.

  156. Angela | 15/06/08

But Rian I agree - people will never agree what is healthy (regardless of what professionals tell them is) and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this thread! LOL!

I pretty much eat like this when I want to drop weight fast but I couldn’t live like it forever. It put me in a REALLY bad mood!

I think she is low on talent, but a very pretty girl. I am glad to hear her tell the truth about how she got (she wasn’t always) & remained so thin…most of them lie with the old “I eat whatever I want” bit.

This is so sad, seeing so many people support unhealthy things and unhealthy images, Jessica Alba has looked too thin for a long time until just a few months before she got pregnant.

shes basically starving herself..a coffee with milk and splenda is like 150/200 cals and then a yogurt is 100.. and her dinner isnt more than 400..bc thatd be a huge dinner.. so shes probs not even getting 900 cals a day… thats nice.

still georgious, but add 15 lbs and she would look dynomite!!!

  163. xoxo | 20/08/08

a coffee with splenda or sweet and low (and skim milk) 50 cals most how much milk do you add?? the coffee is calorie free!!

WHATEVER - HER DIET SEEMS LIKE THAT OF MANY OTHER PEOPLES

    AS DOES HER BODY

AND WHILE PREGNANT AND EATING 1500 CALORIES A DAY MORE

-do the math / assuming she ate the extra 300 calories a day for the pregnancy we will not even count that-
lets be generous- do the math-1000x the #of days of the 9 months (that is the excess she consumed from her norm) divide that by the 3,500 (calories that equal a pound)

haha it comes to 1000×0x9 divided by 3500 =74
well she did gain 50 pounds so the metabolism didn’t adjust much

i think it is right bc if you only add the 300 a day it = 23 lbs the whole time which is the normal amount

God It Is a Bitch to Go Off The Low Cal Diet

    SHE GOT HUGE

AND HAS YET TO LOSE IT 2 Mo. AFTER NOT MUCH DIFFERENT

honestly she is my fav celeb! (and angelina - but diff type of hot)
She is sooo pretty, definately starves herself to look that thin .. she looks hungry as! I love her colour (hair, and skin) .. so jealous!
In all her pregnancy shots she looks really unhappy with her looks!
And just to randomly add, i think cash and her are on different levels, i wouldnt be surprised if it didnt last..

    I love her!
She’s beautiful, skinny, gorgeous colour (hair, skin)!
    Definately starves herself!
totally looks unhappy with her baby weight (she looked depressed and preoccupied the whole time)
