Janet Is Going To Lose The Pounds!

The latest issue of Life & Style, which is already in grocery and drug stores across the country, has a cover story about how Janet Jackson is going to lose some serious weight - AGAIN.
Now, Janet appeared on a recent taping of TRL and didn’t seem particularly heavy. However, she wants to get into tip-top shape for her upcoming tour in September. She wants to “overhaul her menu and replace the junk food with healthy food.”

According to the story, Janet has been indulging in foods like tubs of fried chicken, french fries, chocolate, and has even been known to down an entire pizza in one sitting.
Her tour diet will be something like: Egg whites and a slice of whole wheat bread for breakfast, salad with grilled chicken for lunch, lean fish or chicken with veggies for dinner, and fruit for dessert. (Sound familiar?! Yep - only like every single diet published in these darn tabloids).
So… what do you all think? Personally, I think if she ate all the junk food that the story claims, she’d be pretty heavy at this point! (Buckets of chicken?!)

I don’t know her plan, but either way, I’m sure that what she is doing is veeery unhealthy.
I think she needs to give it a rest, she’s always involved with weight loss stories and she looks good as it is
I think her and Jessica Simpson are the biggest yo-yos in the industry! I’m, of course, talking about their dieting habits.
She is too old to be messing with her body like she does. She sure needs balance in her life. It is best to eat healthy most of the time and indulge only when is necessary because after all she is human and needs to enjoy too, but moderation is the secret.
Agree w/ Sandie and Ml…she needs to stop binging and eating junk and keep it clean. She doesn’t seem to be able to keep in balance, it’s either super buff/slim or she’s blowing up.
Rian, have you done a post on Mel C of the Spice Girls? It is me, or has she gained quite a bit?
Personally, I consider Janet unhealthy. Her weight goes up and down like a yo-yo. Her poor body.
She seems a bit erratic. One minute she is healthy and slim, then a few months later she piles on the pounds. I think she should work on a healthy balance - one that’s not too strict so that she can maintain it.
This is what happens when healthy eating and excercising is treated merely as a weight loss tool. She clearly needs to hammer out her issues with food instead of just dieting down yet again.

Those magazines always exaggerate how much people eat. I’m sure she’s not eating whole pizzas and buckets of chicken; more like a couple of pieces of pizza and two or three pieces of chicken. They want to make it seem like she’s such a pig or whatever. I mean, granted, her weight DOES fluctuate a bit, but she’s not really that big right now.

Alyssa, you are right on. What she considers a (weight-reducing) diet, is how one should eat all of the time. This Jackson woman obviously has serious issues with her weight and eating. To stuff yourself full of junk, pile on the weight and then “eat healthily” when you suddenly need to look better and be in the public eye is not a healthy attitude to food, nor should it be publicized as such. She’d even be making money out of selling her story to this trash mag! No wonder so many people have eating disorders - in both directions…
I hate it when people go on crash diets and never really learn how to eat properly. She should hire a nutritionist, it would help her tremendously.

Aww that’s horrible chantal. Alot of people have problems with food, even celebrities. Only they have to have their problems in front of the entire world. I strongly believe that the Jacksons had a rough time growing up, and the effects of this have manifested themselves in various ways. Janet’s food issues may be one of those ways.
Let’s all hope she gets the help she needs and finds a nice balance between her two ways of eating. Let’s show some support to her!
what´s wrong with eating an entire pizza? when i eat pizza (1-2 times a month) i usually eat the whole thing.
On an urelated topic you need to do a post on Nicole Richie, just seen a picture of her on Heatworld.com and she is wearing a purple flowery dress and her chest bones are seriously boney.
She needs to stop doing this shit to her body! I bet her metabolism is seriously messed up from constant states of starvation and indulgence.
her eating habits are so all over the place, and that so called magazine diet is too restrictive for me, I work out 5 to 6 times a week, eat 1800-2000 calories a day, around 200g of carb, and 70g of fat, and
i indulge in my weekly outback restaurant with friends, you can eat healthy and eat a treat every day in my opinion, Janet stop the madness,
Has she no shame? If I was that unable to control myself with binge eating I certainly wouldn’t tell the world what I shovelled down and more to the point I would find it embarrassing to say ‘Yep I am going to lose weight again!’

Actually, her in AMMERICA we have what is called “sizes”. Usually pizzas come in small, medium, large, or (in some places) extra large.

I think we need to start teaching nutrition in gym class. Better food equates to better performance in school and on tests, reduced agression in children, and reduces stress.
When will someone intervene? Think of how todays generation will teach THEIR kids how to eat? I see a bad epidemic coming this way…

Seriously? There are people in the world who don’t think there’s anything wrong with eating AN ENTIRE pizza, even if it’s only once a month?
I don’t agree. That’s called binge eating, and there IS something wrong with it. Learning to eat in moderation ALL THE TIME is the absolute key to not only losing weight, but maintaining weight loss for the rest of your life. Even if you’re thin now, taking the attitude that it’s okay to eat a whole pizza every now and then — or a whole bag of chips, or a whole carton of ice cream — is just setting yourself up for major weight problems in the future. Just look at Janet Jackson! She’s obviously never learned to eat properly. She goes through phases where she starves herself and exercises like a mad woman, and loses tons of weight as a result. But the minute she stops working out and starts eating again (Big Macs and whole pizzas), she piles the weight back on. Well, d’uh! I wonder why???
Take a page from her book and take care of yourself ALL the time — not just when you want to lose weight!

I gotta chime in again … sorry but I think it’s a little crazy there are people here saying they eat a whole pizza and don’t think it’s bad… I could understand if you are a big guy or something, but a normal-sized or thin girl eating a whole pizza is just disgusting.

She eats the big macs and pizzas because she is starving. She puts her body through a famine when she diets so severely, and this is her survival instinct kicking in that strongholds her into bingeing, against her willpower. Your survival instinct it what kicks in to keep you from dying by starvation. This is why anyone has binges.
I totally agree with Hana’s comment about being able to have a treat everyday while eating healthy and working out most days of the week. I lost 70 pounds a little over a year ago and been maintaining very well. I did not do no goofy fad or crash diets or spend hours a day exercising. I changed my eating habits, and i do cardio for 30 minutes a day just about everyday, and i do weights 3 times a week. I always eat 3 balanced, healthy meals and have several healthy snacks, but i have huge sweet tooth and always indulge in something sweet, like a hershey bar, or twizzlers, or ice cream. If a nobody like me can do it, then why can’t these celebrities do it? They can have access to the best nutritionists and chefs in the world!
Janet seems to have a pretty cool setup. She’s never really in the public eye unless she’s about to go on tour or release a new cd. So she only really needs to get in shape when she’s out and about. And when she’s not, she can sit in her house and eat bonbons. Sounds good to me! Personally, though, I don’t think she looks bad when she’s heavy. Skinny may be the look right now, but it’s not for everybody. And if you’re carrying a little extra, all you have to do is dress to flatter it. Some people look better big.
Hana-are you saying you eat 70g of fat per day? The recommended daily allowance of fat per week is 86 grams…there is no way you could be eating 70 grams of fat a day and not be obese!

I’m still shocked at this ‘whole pizza’ thing…its not a big deal! Italians eat a whole pizza on a regular basis..maybe not the deep pan fast food kind but good quality fresh pizzas.
Michelle, where are you getting those figures? Eight-six grams of fat (9 calories per gram) equals only 774 calories.
Suppose a person’s daily calorie intake is 1800 (this is what a normal person may eat, not some crazed calorie-obsessed freakazoid hellbent on destroying her body and soul), and 20% of her calories are to come from fat (which is considered reasonable by people with their heads not up their bums). That would mean that she would need 360 calories of fat per day, which is 40 grams. Forty grams multiplied by 7 days equals 280 grams.
Eighty-six grams of fat would equal approxiately 12 grams a day, or 108 calories from fat. That’s way way WAY too low.

Oh, and BFD about the whole pizza thing. I’ve done it before, on several occasions, and I assure you I’m not obese or anywhere even close (gratuitous brag: I’m 44, just shy of 5′6″ and 111 pounds). So the f*ck what if someone indulges once in a while? It’s FUN. Yes, FUN. And this is coming from someone who eats really really “clean” most days of her life.

You can eat a whole pizza! Dominoes pizza has 3 small 9 inch pizzas for 4 dollars each! If you want to be a piggy, but not a cow, try eating the whole one by yourself. I ate a pepperoni last night!

I don’t sympathize with her diet struggles either because I was raised in a family where we eat healthy foods most of the time, occasionally you can indulge and have a pizza or chinese food night like once a week but the rest of the time I cook and eat healthy, fresh delicious foods.
What SIZE of pizza are they talking about? Eating a small pizza yourself would be ok to me, but definitely not a medium, large, or XL yourself.
Oh yeah, to clarify, I don’t mean it’s ok to eat a small pizza by yourself DAILY.. just every once in a while.

I think it really depends on the size of the pizza and those vary a lot. I know places where a small pizza has a 13cm diameter and I know places where a small one is 23cm diameter. A normal sized girl can totally eat a tiny 13cm diameter pizza but the 23cm one is another story. though I know enough non overweight girls who manage the 23cm thing too.

all dat food u just mentioned makes me want to throw up. i mean i can stand to eat two slice of pizza per month or about 5 fries whenever i come across them, but wen u are able to have a whole junk food meal with nothing healthy at all, i jus wanna throw up (and no not in a bulemia way but in a way as if i had jus seen sumbody eat dog shit). I love janet tho but i completely disprove of her former diet and hope shes not jus eatin healthy cuz of her tour.

Wow, props to you ladies that can put down a whole pizza, lol. I thought I had a big appetite, but I’ve never eaten a whole pizza on my own. My husband does it all the time, but he’s got more of a Kevin James-ish figure, so it’s pretty believable that he could do it.
i don’t see how someone could physically eat a whole pizza(assuming it’s not a personal size, duh) only once in a while, when i’m eating healthy, my stomach “shrinks”, at least that’s what i call it, i get used to eating healthy portions and not feeling hungry all the time. if i tried to eat a whole freakin pizza i would get physically ill!seriously, i get full after two slices!!
she needs to just find a happy balance, and stop yoyo dieting. it’s very unhealthy for you.
