It was revealed in this article that Mariah is 5′9 and wears a size 6 or 8 dress and size 29 jeans.

Yeah, I never thought she was that tall either…but who knows, right? I don’t think it’s looked like she’s gained any weight, and I also don’t think she wears a size 29″
she is 5′8, she’s said so herself before and you don’t realize she’s that tall till you see her in heels standing next to men and she’s towering over them, i seen that in some special she always wears 4 inch heels atleast..she’s a big girl, does anyone else remember when she first came out in the early 90s how gorgeous she was?! and her body was awesome too dunno what happened to her i guess maybbe just age
She looks bigger to me…like a US size 12. She’s well porportioned but flucuates alot in weight.
The colours are nice on her! The fit not so much, and that sweater is so weird with the dress. But at least she is covered! Albeit not with something that does her body any justice. She needs a stylist, and if she has one, she needs a new one!

How is a size 6 or 8 a 29? I wear a size 2 or 4 and I have had to buy size 29 jeans? I don’t really think thats accurate for her because I have seen pictures of myself and there is a big difference between me and her.

that’s a pretty color on her, but the outfit is horrible. it is however a huge improvment for her. shed does not look like she has gained to me.

God! I am so SICK of people acting like a size 8 is HUGE! Size 8 people are generally pretty slim maybe medium sized depending on body type, but HUGE? No. My mother is a 6/8 and no one to my knowledge has ever called her huge. She’s generally thought of as a small woman. Everyone is getting too used to seeing celebrities who are size 0-2 and thinking that that is somehow normal. Go to a store and pick up a size 0 and you will see. VERY few grown woman can healthily and safely fit into that size. I have 2 friends who are about that size naturally. Both of them are short and tiny, at or just above 5′ tall. They are child sized women. Size 6/8 is a healthy small/medium size for a woman.
She is a buxom girl, but the dress is flattering and skims over her problem areas. Her weight fluctuates quite a bit, but she appears happy at the moment

She has the worst style ever out of any celebrity. I prefer the mindless fashion trend followers over her outdated 90’s clothes. I’d believe the dress size 6/8 if she was shorter, but she’s looks so tall and thick, it’s impossible to believe.

Idk, I believe it. I wear a size 6 dress and size 28-29 jeans and look like her except shorter and with way less of a chest.
The sizes they say they wear should be taken with a grain of salt. Add about 2-3 sizes, and that’s more the truth. Who doesn’t lie a bit about their weight, size, or age?
I don’t like her sense of style, she always looks trashy to me. As for her body, she curvy but by no means fat…that dress is not doing her shape and favors. At 5′9″ and a size 6 skirt, I have to occasionally get an 8 in a dress to fit my chest in it and she looks way bigger up top than me. I put her at a size 10 dress, probably a size 8 skirt.
I am 5′9″ and wear a 30, or a size 10. I can’t quite believe the person who said she was a 2 or 4 and a 29. That is weird. I think Mariah is at least my size if not larger and no, I don’t look in the mirror and say, eewww, I am so huge.
I doubt she can get those boobs into a or 6 or 8. I think she is more like a 12.
I don’t quite buy she is a 29 unless it is vanity sizing but she looks fine so who cares…29 is just a number.
I’ll give Mariah a free pass on the outfit since she is going on an international flight and you want to dress more for comfort than style.

& Momo I am a 2/4 and 5′8″ and I wear a size 26 jean- (35 inch hips) so different strokes for different folks- it doesn’t make her size unbelievable. I’m straight up and down/ and maybe you’re more curvy on the bottom and that’s why you wear a 29?

She looked heavier than she had before several weeks ago—but I think she caught it and dealt with it—it looks to me like she is not going to go crazy one direction or the other. Given her age and her genetic makeup–she does better than a lot of women. Getting fat would be an easy thing for her to do.
I would have guessed she wore at least a size 31 jeans. She is tall with a booty. She also must weight around 160. Looks good though and can pull off a very curvy body. It would be boring if everyone was a size 0 or 2.

I do not believe she wears a size 6, a size 8 is more believable though. As for the size 29 jeans- no way in hell. I only weigh 115 pounds (at 5ft 6) and I wear a size 26.

I used to help her (I’m a sales associate) and she IS actually sz 6-8 in the dresses, I was shocked too…

I don’t understand American sizes, if I am in size 29 jeans(not designer)and I’m evenly proportion what dress size would that make me? In New Zealand or Australia I am a 10.

Yeah, but these sizes are so inconsistent. They probably just put in size 29 because it correlates with size 8, but a lot of times they make some jeans smaller and you end up wearing a bigger size (number-wise) than what you would label yourself as. I normally wear a size 26, but I have jeans in my closet that range around three different sizes. Certain times of the month can make a difference as well, but I know a lot of people who appear perfectly thin to me, aren’t as tall as Mariah, and wear size 29. It’s all about the bottom half. If your top half is fairly small, it gives the impression of an hour-glass figure and you just don’t seem big even if you may have a larger bottom/hips/thighs. But Mariah kind of looks thick from top to bottom. I find her very pretty, though, and I think her body is cute for her size. She’s 40 and she owns it. I have never been bothered by her fascination with dressing too young. To each his/her own if you can pull it off.

i, too, share your distaste with the negative connotation linked with being a size 8. to me, the number on your pants should not be what you’re worried about; it should be based more on how you look and feel.
i, myself, am 5′9 and a size 4-8. and trust me.. there really isn’t any fat on me that i could lose… maybe if i shaved some hip bone off i’d be able to squeeze into something smaller…
while i do not believe that mariah carey is a size 8, i do not think she is at all overweight. i do not understand the obsession with being a 2. there ARE different shapes… why must there be such conformity?

I am virtually the same height as her, but there is no way she wears a size 29… I do and I have 38″ hips!! And I wear a size 2 everything else, so… IDK. She looks good, regardless.

i don’t buy it. i’d guess a size 10 or 12 dress and size 30 or 31 jeans. she’s apparently 5′9″ and she is a curvy, big-boned girl so i don’t think those sizes are huge by any means for a statuesque woman. she’s fairly average.

I’m 5′8 and a 6 (sans the boobs), there’s no frickin way she is a 6/8.
This is what a size 8 looks like at 5ft2, so her being 5ft9 (?) I’d put her at a size 10/12 perhaps. She is by no means big or fat, just curvy and looks good.
That said with vanity sizing a size 10/12 can be an 8. It’s the same with Kim K, she probably fits a size 4 due to vanity sizing but in reality is a size 6/8.
why do people think it looks good or is necessary to wear sunglasses at night? that and wearing them inside is something i will never understand.
I actually just joined to comment on the post re: the sizes some celebs said they wore in the OK mag article because it seems to me that the sizes they stated (27, 29, etc.) are their jean size waist or length in inches, but I don’t seem able to comment on that (it’s probably been too long). So I thought I’d add this to my comment here since like Mariah Carey, I’m also 5′9″ and was actually surprised to learn that she is the same height. When I was thinner (I’ve put on about 20-30 extra pounds in the last year), anywhere from 125-145 lbs., I wore size 6 jeans (Levis) with a waist size of 28 or 29. Since jeans today have some stretch because of Spandex (or whatever material it is), I can see that someone as tall as Carey could put on weight and still wear a size 6 or 8 dress (I was wearing a size 6 dress, tight, when I weighed 125-129 lbs., but a size 8 felt better) and size 29 (inches) waist in jeans. Since Carey’s as tall as I am, I doubt she could find jeans long enough for her in stores and would have to order them, which surely she has a personal shopper/assistant to do for her. Whenever I shop for jeans, which has been quite a while, I always look for long or extra long so that they reach just the top of my shoe or a bit below it. I have gone to thrift stores looking for jeans, but none of them are ever long enough for me. Mariah Carey, unlike me, likely also works out which I don’t anymore because of chronic severe pain from fibromyalgia. Whether she weighs an ounce or a ton, Mariah Carey, like all beautiful women, including Kirstie Alley, will always be stunning no matter what she weighs.
Why does she always dress so cheap? Does she think she looks good, or is she just trailer trash, who doesn’t know any better? x

i have the exact same stats…i’m a size 4 or 6 in the U.S. depending on the garment. i’m sure you look hot. 135 is the perfect weight for our height (if you want to be healthy and not starve yourself that is).
