Please Vote!

May 19th, 2009 by Rian | Filed under Polls, Website Info.

Hey everyone, I am seriously considering starting up a forum for this website. Not only would there be an area to discuss celebrities and their weight, but a place to discuss other things, including diets, general celebrity gossip, current events, etc.

So I’d love to get your input on this…

Do you think there should be a forum for this website?

  • Yes! I would sign up and post on it if there was one. (51%, 2,220 Votes)
  • I don't care either way (29%, 1,238 Votes)
  • No (20%, 857 Votes)

Total Voters: 4,311

Thanks to everyone who votes!

(By the way, if I get at least 500 people voting “yes” on this, I will definitely start a forum for the site. :-D )

Update: OK, it looks like I’ll definitely be putting up some forums! I’ll work on these today and hopefully have them up and running either later today (Wednesday) or tomorrow. I’ll post the link as soon as they are ready!

I think it’s a cool idea, but one thing I would like to know is, why is it every time I vote, it tells me I have already voted…when I haven’t???

  7. Rian | 19/05/09

Suzy: I’m not sure, are you on AOL by chance? That may be why.

  8. mazz | 19/05/09

WOW lots of people go on this site !

damn, Rian, you had a ton of votes :) nice! too bad everyone who voted doesn’t post regularly. i actually voted “i don’t care either way” but only because i think you should have the same rules that you have on the blog apply to the forum. i was just worried it could be potential fuel for trading eating disordered techniques. but i am sure you will do a good job moderating it as you do this site!

ncpstarrylove & mazz there are a lot of people who visit this site that never comment. This site gets tens of thousands of visitors each day. Things will be more relaxed over there rule-wise, but it will not under any circumstances be a pro ED site.

YAY GREAT IDEA! HOPE IT GOES THROUGH

  12. Bella | 20/05/09

please keep it non-ED, that’s why I love this site… I can’t believe you have so many people that follow this site! it is great though. I’m psyched for the forum…

I would enjoy something like this, let’s just hope it’s clean.

  14. Patricia | 20/05/09

    I voted YES (:

  15. Laura | 20/05/09

I voted no. There are enough seemingly pro-ED people posting harmful comments on here now and again as it is and I see far too much bad diet/exercise advice batted around. Still, maybe the one’s with good diet/exercise advice will start to speak up in the forum.

I am with Laura on this

  17. JeanGeanie | 20/05/09

I would like a forum but I know I will waste even more time on here. I think it could actually turn into an anti-ana website as there are a lot of sensible posters who would hopefully give girls confidence to be them selves enjoy their lives and not obsess over how fat their thighs are. I am of course living in a fantasy world but I can only hope.

  18. Susy | 20/05/09

Rian… Yes, I am AOL. Anyway, I still think it will be fun to have a forum. : )

  19. Miss Jessie | 20/05/09

Rian, please make it as easy to post and navigate as this is.

  20. spanktacular | 20/05/09

    I too agree with Laura

  21. AD | 20/05/09

I voted no, echoing some of the other readers’ concerns. I think that you definitely want to be careful because, given the content of the site, people might be throwing around advice to each other that is not backed by professional health knowledge and could be dangerous. I don’t think that forums will necessarily be a bad thing, but I don’t want to see people simply getting potentially-bad advice from others when they should be speaking with a doctor or therapist.

Those of you who are worried about the forum, it might be wise to simply not visit it. :-) There are tons of diet forums on the internet that don’t have doctors and nurses on them and people trade diet tips all the time. This isn’t going to be a pro-ED forum OR just another diet forum, as many topics will be covered. ‘

If people want a pro-ED forum, there are already tons of them on the ‘net!

Thanks for all of your feedback!
