How revealing is that dress? Not saying she’s got to start dressing like a nun or an old granny, but more her age. A tad embaressing…

There is absolutely no denying the woman has a fabulous figure, regardless of her age.
That said, I think this dress is too short. She would look just as stunning if not more so, had the dress been a couple of inches above the knee.
It’s really nice to see she hasn’t let herself go, since she’s waaay past her prime.

First, she looks good for any age, she still has “the body”, beautiful legs, arms are toned, HERVE LEGER again, but she can pull it off, maybe a little bit longer but not much since the dress is sequined.

Elle is gorgeous always, but she needs to dress age-appropriate. She is so beautiful she doesn’t need to dress this way. I feel embarrassed for her if she doesn’t have enough sense herself.
I agree that if that dress came to knee length so it was more tulip shaped it would look a hundred times better. Don’t like her eye-make up either. It looks like she’s gone to do some extreme catwalk editorial make-up then forgot to put mascara on.

Great post, person! LOL! Yes, some of us older folks do keep in shape like Elle, and laugh at younger girls comments at the horror of women over the age of 30 being “too old”. Hee hee. The woman who has the very BEST body I’ve seen on TV is named Gabrielle Anwar, she’s on “Burn Notice”, and she’s 39. She’s 5′2″. Pure muscle tone, fabulous abs, etc. Don’t think either Elle or Gabrielle need to be considered throw aways, they blow away than most of the younger actresses out there. Particularly Gabrielle, and she’s had 3 children BTW. She’s a size00, didn’t use pregnancy as an excuse to lose her body-lol.

YOUNG LADIES (GIRLS), you do not start living until your 40’s. You’ll see once you get there. You can ask any 40 something, and they will tell you that they would never go back to their 20’s. This woman is far more attractive than 90% of the 20 somethings or thirty somethings out there!

Elle is a classy beauty, with the most beautiful complexion. That said, this dress does not flatter her-it shows her saggy knees and her boob in the one picture is hanging low and off to the side.
There is such a thing as age appropriate dress regardless of how fit and toned one is.

First time posting here, but I can’t keep quiet on this one. I am 44 and I am always amused (and a little appalled!)when I read comments about a woman’s age making her unattractive. This woman looks fabulous no matter what her age. Would I wear a dress that short? No. In general, as we age, it probably is best to accentuate our best features rather than trying to hold onto our youth.
Elle looks fabulous. This dress IS age appropriate, however I do agree that the dress proportions seem off and that it would look amazing a few inches longer. I don’t see anything wrong with her knees. I DO think she needs more booty though. I hope to look this good as I “ripen”
U have an amazing body Elle, but there is no need for a women of your age to be dressing like that. that dress should have went to aleast her kness, and showing shoulders for a women of any age is beautiful. That dress is just way too short. I don’t care how good of a body you have, for someone her age, its just inappropriate.
Kudos to her for not running to the doc every time someone points out a flaw (unlike another celebrity I can think of). I think Elle is the woman to start a whole new trend. She is STILL the body and I see no reason for her to have shame for wearing what she did.

Okay… here are my two cents. She shouldn’t be wearing that dress. Before you jump on me and say I’m jealous of her, I’m not. I’m the same height and about the same weight, but a younger.

Dresses that short don’t really look good on women our height. One thing is that we have wider shoulders. Spaghetti straps, etc. can make our shoulders look extra wide. You have to balance out the bottom if the shoulders are going to shown. Notice how she’s posing with one shoulder back… she knows her shoulders look wide…

A hem length that short makes us look disproportionate. A better length would be just below the bulkiest part of the quadriceps to add a pleasant balance.

Her weight and figure are beautiful, but the outfit screams, “Look at me!” in a less than tasteful way.
I think she looks great in that dress. I’d also point out that Elle is from Australia, where we aren’t so thingy about age and skirt length, mainly because it’s really hot some of the time! It’s just not an issue. She pulls it off well, I think.

im dying to purchase the book of rules on age-appropriate dressing. who wrote it? (insert any closed-minded person here). and furthermore, where is the book on body appropriate dressing? the one where is says its ok for people to display muffin tops and upper back leg cellulite? oh, right, there isnt one because we dont live in the medieval times, or the 50s for that matter. we have come a little farther than to have to subscribe to some arbitrary “rule” of appropriateness. or, i guess it depends where you live, lol.

If you can not determine what is or is not age appropriate or what is or is not body appropriate then perhaps you should consult a stylist

Part of your comment struck a chord with me- you seemed to be shocked that she wasn’t covering or trying to hide certain parts of her body, and so that must mean she feels 18? I’m confused… as in feels like she still looks 18 and is in denial? If that is in fact what you meant, well, couldn’t that also mean that maybe she doesn’t have issues with her “flat butt, sun damaged skin and wrinkly knees?” Maybe she isn’t trying to impress us, but instead put on that dress and felt beautiful and is comfortable with herself “aged body” and all? See, that to me is more beautiful than anything. Being able to look in the mirror and to honestly love every inch of your imperfect body and not worry about what another woman or man thinks is the most beautiful, age appropriate thing there is.
If that doesn’t make sense, blame it on the drugs! Hopefully some of you get my point.

I think she has a good figure. I find her entire ensemble flattering. To me, it’s NOT about age. If she still looks good in those outfits, and she likes to wear them, by all means she should wear them. JMHO.
With that said, I do have one criticism about her. Because she’s so lean, it has taken a toll on her face. Her face is haggard with some deep lines around her mouth (even when she’s not smiling). She has the classic raisin face of those who are too lean (and/or smokes). If she gained SOME fat, it would soften her face, and fill-out those lines. She would have a better-looking face, in my opinion.

I’ll tell you girls this, I’m 46, and when you are this age, you don’t think “Oh, I’m 46, I’m 1/2 dead.” You feel the way you always have. The difference is knowing how to deal with situations better because you have lived through more experiences, other than that, not much changes. At least I don’t feel older. I’m sure it varies from person to person with their mindsets/experiences/lifestyles.
