She is one of those people who need to watch their facial expressions constantly, because she’s always scrunching her face together and it really wrecks her face. That’s why people are always critcizing her acting, and labeling her a bad actress.

I find your comment hilarious. Every checkout line in Canadian grocery stores sells People, US Weekly, and InTouch magazines. I have not read a single issue of McLean’s that does not mention at least one American celebrity and the pertinent gossip for that week in the ‘Newsmakers’ section. One can’t ride the TTC in Toronto without being surrounded by ads for The City or some other new MTV show.
I’m not challenging your assertion that shows like The Hills are vacuous (I don’t have cable and have never watched an episode).
But, obviously, there is enough of a demand in Canada for these shows, publications, and gossip bits to warrant their widespread presence. SOMEONE in Canada is consuming such “vapid entertainment.”
The U.S. produces these programs, true, but if Canadians consume them, I’m afraid you have no reason to be haughty.
