Although it’s hard to tell with their excessively baggy outfits (and can somebody tell me what on earth they are wearing?!), it does appear that they both may have gained a little weight recently. (Click here to see the photos of Mary-Kate last week). It’s mostly noticeable in their faces… but they still look like slim and healthy young women.

Wow, just wow.
I love what Ashley is wearing, and she looks in fantastic shape as always; but i think that Mary-Kate is looking a bit odd. I don’t think that she has put on any weight, i just think she’s wearing waaay to many clothes, her eyebrows look a bit funny also.
who is the one on the left? Lol … looks like she’s wearing Marilyn Manson Make-Up … hardly looks like one of the Olsen twins, but I guess it must be one of ‘em.
The one in the pink looks frail and skeletal (yet her rear is poofed out?), clothes are hanging like on a rack…and something odd is going on with her eyebrows and forehead. The other one is a little heavy and while I don’t mind it on her body, the face is taking a toll from the weight, IMO.
Both of them look rather odd, awful hair as usual and way too much make-up..

Mary-Kate does look like she’s gained a bit of weight; Ashley looks the same.
A complete mess. Their hair is so fried. They need to cut it short, stop bleaching it, and get a clean slate.

Can definetly tell the one on the left has gained. Looks bad on her face, and her legs. And those clothes theyre wearing? I think they shop the same place my grandmother does.
Mary Kate’s face looks really puffy and her hair looks really dry. Who knows if it’s because of a long night drinking and overprocessing (respectively), but honestly, neither of them look particularly GOOD.
They both look weird.
I think Ashley looks lovely.
They do remind me a little of those troll dolls with the big fluffy hair (the dolls, not the olsen’s), cute but all the same.
Am I going to be the only one here who complete disregards their pasts, thus not taking their feelings into mind, and say “ewwww”?

Um…baggy clothes generally mean “I’m trying to hide my body here”…so I dunno, maybe she isn’t THAT comfortable with her weight gain
I think they both have/do struggle with eating disorders for years.
While MK does look uncomfortable, major props to her for making a public appearance nonetheless. It would be a lot easier to just try to hide from the world.
MK makes me think she’s slipping again. Unless this is a new hair/clothing trend then it looks like she’s having issues.

The clothes are way to big, old looking, and frumpy for such young women. They could still look classy but have better tailored younger looking clothes.
Ashley looks good. MK has def gained in the face. Too heavily made up for my taste. Think they could do much better style wise. They can afford stylists for goodness sakes!

Although I love them both, I do think mary kate looks horrible here, she should have took ashley’s example by wearing nautral make-up. Makes them look so prettier. It’s good that mk is a normal weight, and seems happier. Someone said ashley is looking frail. She looks normal to me, they are both tiny, and have tiny frames, it’s ashley’s natural weight I think, and mk will probably lose a few pounds herself.
The one in blue is starting to resemble Courtney Love.

M-K really looks off…fuller face, fuller legs. She is beginning to look like a cross of Marilyn Manson & Courtney Love (at least in her face)! Hard to tell (as in the last post of M-K) about weight b/c of all the layers of clothing. Her face looks so round (almost bloated). Her face used to be somewhat sharper / angular, & sort of longish…now her face is definitely very round bordering on bloated. Ashley, on the other hand, looks more chic & put-together (as she usually does in comparison to sister, M-K)! I like Ashley’s outfit…but it’s too big/loose on her giving the illusion she may have gained. I think that she is rather thin (not frail)…but looks like she is the thinnest twin now! Have to agree, I think both of them have disordered eating issues. Think the main reason M-K got so much (more) attention was b/c of her cocaine skinny body. M-K used the coke to kill her appetite.
When I looked up anorexic..it said (among other stuff) that it means having no (appetite) or lack appetite. Truly believe that M-K’s addiction to cocaine led/contriubted directly to her anorexia. She had both addictions which is common. Christina Ricci had same problem except her anorexia transferred into her self-mutilation. She has admitted it in the past. (when whe was in her early 20’s)

they both have an unfortunate face structure–no cheekbones, not well-defined–and it becomes obvious with poor lighting and makeup that doesn’t counteract this.

i dont know if they gained any actual weight but i do think that these pictures aren’t very flattering. i think that mk is wearing way to dark of makeup it looks weird. and why are they wearing so much clothing. i live in that area and i wore tights and a tank top yesterday and i was boiling!
These girls are basically pretty. If they don’t have that Mischa Barton thing around the knees—they are probably not eating enough. Things could be worse–they have a lot of money.

I agree exactly with nancy, and Ashley just makes mk look worse. Mk needs to tone up and lose weight, she would look so much better ashley’s size, and still be normal weight.

I will reiterate what I said in the last post… MK has gained, quite noticeably, and it did not happen yesterday. I am not saying this because I dislike her either; she is one of my favorite celebs. She is funny, unique, and can be quite lovely in a sort of pixieish/precocious child looking way at times.
Not here though! I will give my honest opinion and say that I think she should tone up and lose a little, and I say that with sympathy, because I do believe she has food issues and that this is a visible sign of it, just as when she was thin to the point of looking ill was.
What I can’t abide are all the MKheads that still promote the belief that she is underweight and an icon for those looking to slim down or some sort of martyr… a lot of people struggle with drug or eating disorder issues.
Edamame, I completely agree with you, though, that she gets big credit for making the appearance. Determination and not backing out or going into hiding show a lot of strength of character.

I love them both dearly! It still seems odd to me how Ashley appears to be the thinner twin–although they are both slim and lovely. Although I used to favor Mary Kate, I really like how Ashley’s sense of style has evolved over the years.

I mean they were babies when they got started so it’s not like they really had a choice, but as they got older they have totally shyed away from Hollywood and don’t pull things for attention. hmm ashley looks about the same as always. i really feel bad for marykate, becasue you can tell she is very very uncomfortable in hrself by the way she is dressing and her hair and everything. I have felt that way too before. like when i was gaining wt after my ed i was soo uncomforatable with it for a good two years that i would only wear enourmous clothes the covered me all over and very lose so my body could not be seen. my hair looked gross to because i felt to fat and gross and disgusting to take a shower because id have to take off my clothes and me naked. It really obvious to me that she struggling with her body/image. I think she would look really great if she got a nice layered haircut or something and dressed in some better fitting, more form fitiing clothes. When i finally did that i gruadually realized that i didnt look big after all and now i feel pretty comfortable dressing in tighter cute outfits. Its really shitty how people call them names and mock them, espically mk. It just shows that their ignorant, heartless, insensetive, and arent able to care or be sympathetic to the struggles of others. Boo to those people.

To: Shawna…I have been wondering the VERY SAME THING!! Is it that (perhaps) M-K is preggers & therefore wearing loose layers of clothing PLUS the much rounder/bloaty looking face?? Guess time will tell…but, if M-K is pregnant….there CERTAINLY will be a lot of tabloid fodder forthcoming in the near future!! She used to layer when she was super skinny thin…but her clothes just hung off of her (M-K) when she was so exceptionally thin. Now with the really round & puffy looking face…and the layers of clothes; she REALLY looks like she’s attempting to conceal “possibly” & “allegedly” being w/child! Look at Kourtney Kardashian…who is 5 months pregnant when she recently came to NYC in that purple drees and the small cloak/or/vest-like top/cover-up…Kourtney K. “pulled off” nearly a five-month bun in the oven & her baby bump was indisguishable!! Woah, I adore the Olsens, but MK doesn’t look quite like herself, in this post. Ashley looks radiant and healthy. I think the MK’s made herself look like this by having her eyebrows tinted, making her skin look pale and wearing different make-up. I wonder what’s going on with her mentally. I wonder if she’ll stand on the scales one of these days, wishing she was back to the super thin her we saw in ‘04. I’m anticipating a relapse. She just doesn’t look happy at all in these shots.
Just took a second look. I think the added weight has altered the shape of her eyes. They may be adding to why she looks “off”.

as always i think mary kate is trying to pull off some kind of look she dreamed up in her head. the problem is that this seemed to work a hell of alot better when she was a stick (IMHO) … i’m totally unsure of what her future will bring. i never thought she would appear this big in public but then again she never cared what people thought about her dress before so why would she care now?

you know i went and looked at the live interview on youtube and these pics actually make them look WAY worse. as far as weight goes. mary kate’s hair isn’t the most flattering hairstyle she’s had. its kind of triangle shaped and that almost never works well with naturally rounder faces. ashley’s hair is quite cute tho.
mk may be having metabolism problems from her ed. idk. also, they have a lot of money to afford personal trainers & chefs, but they also have a lot of money to frequent the best restaurants and fine dining. anyway, i think they’re both technically at healthy weights. I think they would both benefit from healthy diet/exercise, not so much to lose weight but just to be healthy. they both look better (gorgeous, in fact) with a more natural look, imho. as far as dressing older, i think they always have. when they were elementary school/junior high age, they used to have couture clothes tailored to fit them. I quite wanted their hand-me-downs, and-no-I’ll pass on the walmart line (like they would actually wear that).
I don’t think Mk is pregnant. Remember last year when all of the tabloids were saying she was pregnant just cos she had gained weight..? and she wasn’t. Well I think that she has gained even more weight. Which makes me think she will relapse.. which would be sad.
I loved their style wayy better in ‘05 and ‘06, and I LOVED Mk’s hair in ‘04 around the super skinny stage. I love Ashleys hair now, it looks lovely.

I’m a total Mary Kate fan and thinks she’s beautiful and normally love the outfits she experiments with. But this is not a great look. It looks to me like she’s trying to hide a weight gain (not that anyone can blame her- it’s tough to gain weight let alone in front of the scrutiny of the media), but it’s just making her look frumpy. She’s still beautiful though, and if she wasn’t swamped in those clothes I’m sure she’s still a slim and healthy-sized girl. Ashley looks gorgeous, I love her hair and her outfit and she has a lovely figure.
Thank god im not the only one who thinks mk doesnt look like mk! she has seriously done something to her face, i think she had some work done on her nose, and teeth, and her eyebrows are much lighter than usual.. why mary kate, why??? she used to be my favorite twin, but ashley looks waay cuter these days!

The more I look at it, the more I think Mary-Kate resembles her real life mom here. That’s not a bad thing–I mean, don’t all of us look a little like our moms?

Ok, once and for all, Mary Kate never had an ED. She was on drugs and went to rehab.
An ED evokes more sympathy than a drug problem, so that’s the story that everyone relayed to the media.
If she’s filled out, it’s because she’s laying off the nose candy (good for her!), not that she’s got some new perspective on her body.
doesnt anyone remember how frickin skinny she was?? she was into deep trouble with her eating disorder….and as personal experience after denying your body for so long the metabolism goes POOF….which, hence, when you start to eat normally (actually in recovery normally is more than normal) your body will take in every calorie and store EVERY thing as fat, because it is preparing the body incase it goes back into stravation mode. This is why so many girls relapse. Their body will be almost unbearably bloated and would have gain VERY QUICKLY. this weight gain is hard to get off…if the person doesnt go into mini relapses in between (week of restriction) there metabolism will finally catch up and maintain for a while and soon it will start to lose (takes a long time)….
assuming MK has been through some mini relapses as do many recovering anorexics her body is just doing what it is use to…storing all fat…and unless she CONSISTANTLY eats normal her body will continue to do this…
its a horrible cycle…lose by restriction…give in and binge…gain…freak out and lose again…so on and so on
I hope MK lets her body do what it needs to do and to not give in to the cycle

@ Sari- Does it matter if she had a drug problem or an ed or perhaps both? She was very sick, hence the intervention before she turned 18. She was scary skinny. No one cann deny that. She is now more normal in her weight and it most likely has been hard for her. Even people without ed’s who gain 25lbs( or whatever it was)have a hard time dealing with it.
I knew my comment would go into moderation. I didn’t write anything bad. There must be a word that’s catching me up….

Ashley’s style is timeless, classy and ladylike. She does yoga, so she looks toned. I don’t think Mary-Kate works out at all. Yes, she gained, but I’d rather she were at this weight than when she was anorexic (SCAAAARY). MK’s hair looks ratty all the time. Meh.

Ashley is stunning as usual and these pics make MK look terrible but I watched this episode of Much OnDemand that they appeared on in these pics and on video even MK looked nice! It’s just that these pics are unflattering for her….and I appreciate their style! They always step out of the box instead of wearing the same skinny jeans/blazer combo or sundress that everyone else is wearing. So watch the video for the real deal!

i just wish i could give these girls a makeover to look halfway decent…mk could go back to her darker brown hair she had a while ago and i’d introduce her to fitted clothing, and a CHI lol, and of course more natural looking makeup
Have to agree with both: this is how it works..no b.s. 2-28-09 & edamame. (When I tried to eat normally from years of ana…had the same bloat issues)! IMO M-K’s metabolism is so messed up from what I believe is her substance abuse induced anorexia! She was known to have spiked her O.J. (or other juices she drank) w/vodka when she was still in high school. Her cocaine abuse made her appetite go away…thus resulting in a combination of coke addiction & anorexia. However, there is a “current theory” in the most recent STAR tabloid.
Their (STAR’S) theory is that b/c alcohol is very calorie-rich plus a lack of sleep (since M-K is partying so much) …anyhow the excessive alcohol & lack of sleep causes the over-production of the hormone: cortisol…which causes weight gain. It is reported her hair is thinning & her skin looks out of balance. Her life in the fast lane w/too much partying can ruin her estrogen metabolism. Her neck is looking larger and that is also a side effect of the production of too much cortisol. The story also says M-K is doing 3 hour segments of Yoga daily & is trying to cut back her partying. im proud of them it looks like thy r happy like when they were teens. i think the both look great! ive always been a fan im 13 and me and my sister always get mistaken for twins and im rlly proud of mary-kate i always thought i was a lot like her personality wise and she is great inpiration to me cuz i struggle with ana and mia and she got healthy and fit i just think she would be perfect with a tan but they look great! and it actually makes me happy to see them happy i hope they keep it up!!!
but i also think she might be a little lost cuz it seems like shes going through a phase that i had like a year ago and im 13 but i think i had to grow up a lot quicker cuz she was just famous her whole life evrything was easy at first but then she had the downfall which everyone has at a point in there life and i think she got hit with reality after living in a perfect world until pressure or something got to her but i wish her luck and i love seeing posts of them theyre like the first people i was ever a fan of!
