According to the rumors, this is the season where Betty transforms herself… I wonder if it means America will have to lose any weight? She’s already lost some weight since the 1st season of the show three years ago. I think she looks pretty healthy the way she is!

I think her body is healthy and proportional. I don’t watch the show very often, but I doubt it means she will gain weight.
I think she would classify for healthy, but she’s too heavy for my liking.

@Polly: really? why on earth, has she gotten too thin to play the part sans padding? aaaanywho i think she looks fine, normal. The kind of body that doesn’t really raise much emotion in me, negative or positive. But i adore her as Betty.

How can anyone not like her? Not jealous of her figure nut she’s certainly not fat, and she seems to glow with happiness. On another note, spanx has really expanded their line…beachwear now?

@mel are you serious? now all women who carry a few extra pounds should wear any color? i’m not advocating obesity and diabetes but I would venture to say that America is far smaller in person than on camera and definitely not “overweight”
She’s defintely lost a ton of weight from when she first appeared in the movies. I remember the movie Real Women Have Curves, she was probably at least 20lbs heavier there. She looks great now, very healthy.
I wonder what she would look like standing next to Kelly Clarkson; people always make a big fuss over how she’s put on a lot of weight, but she doesn’t look so much bigger than America and everyone seems to think HER weight is fine…
I don’t really watch “ugly betty” but I’ve seen america in some other films. Anyway, I think this is a good look for her body type & is kind of old school hollywood, as someone else mentioned. This is how you do modest beach look without looking like you’re wearing a grannie suit!
I adore Ugly Betty. I would rather not comment on her being heavy or not. I do think she has lost weight since she has been on Ugly Betty though

I would cry if I had her body. Maybe “healthy” weight but she could tone up significantly. She’s very thick, in my opinion. But better thick than way too thin!

She has nice and toned arms. Weightwise she looks healthy to me.
She has definitely whittled down since season one. I think it is really interesting how female celebrities of a healthy, normal body weight always say they won’t yield to the pressure to become ‘Hollywood Thin’ when they first enter the scene. Then fast forward a couple years later and they have new, slimmer bodies.
She looks completely normal and good here.
wow shes definately lost since she first started acting. i dont think shes fat shes actually a good example of how a girl can be curvy but healthy at the same time. i actually read where shes a size eight which is actually below normal. the number one priority for ppl is just to be healhty and seriously doubt she has any health problems at her size plus shes pretty toned.Shes probably not naturally skinny and has may have to work hard just to stay at this size.

@Sian: that is probably right, but America has always been this size or bigger, while Kelly used to be thinner. So there’s a bit of a shock-factor in it as well.

One of my old flatmates was crazy about her. Thought her face/body was the most perfect thing he’d ever seen.

She’s very beautiful and I like her body, it’s healthy and womanly. I really can’t understand how you can call her “chunky” or “too big”. This is what a real woman looks like, so get used to it.
I wonder if that’s her real body or if there is any padding. I just read an article on her that talked about Betty’s new upcoming makeover, and she said she can’t wait to ditch the padding she has to wear to play the character (I’ve never seen the show).

Obviously those people who say she is fat have never struggled with weight before. Some people aren’t born with fast metabolism or slight bone structure. America is obviously not a “thin” person but if you look at photos of her from a few years ago she has definitely come a long way and probably works very hard for the body she has now.

Although she is not “hollywood thin” but her figure is fantastic. She is not big. If you think so…get over yourself. She def does not need to be compared to kelly clarkson at all. If she’s happy with her body, then why could she stand to lose a few pounds? I think the most important think is that you’re happy with what you have – it beats starving yourself to reach impossible standards. Not everybody was meant to wear a size 0.

she looks cute- nice to see a variety of shapes and sizes just like the real world. She is a good role model which is more than I can say for a lot of the actresses…
I find her EXTREMELY unattractive.
Her body is plump, shapeless, heavy, nothing to look at, boring…. I don’t understand why she is famous, she isn’t special even with make up and a dress on…. She isn’t the world’s greatest actress either! I’m not even going to get started on what she’s wearing! GROSS! She needs to lose weight and tone up!

I like how she seems comfortable with the fact she’s not super skinny and doesn’t try to be. I wouldn’t say she’s chunky at all, just healthy. I’m thinking some people are starting to have warped minds.
