  2. Suzy | 2/10/09

    Wow! Skinny!

  3. Ariel | 2/10/09

    Thats skinny.

  4. Rooni3033 | 2/10/09

    That’s gross!

  5. Jade | 2/10/09

    Blah.

  6. mars in velvet | 2/10/09

Ooh, there we have “Sweet Vlada” ! Yeah, the models are skinny, but I can’t get over how weird / bad taste the creations are..

  7. Laura | 2/10/09

The one in the 4th pic looks ok.

  8. maddison | 2/10/09

I don’t enjoy the runway models because to reiterate, they are paid to be clothes-racks. I think they’re inspirational for pro-ana types. It’s more fun commenting on the retired ones and actresses/entertainers.

  9. meli§a | 2/10/09

those models look like they hate their lives.

what the heck is up with those crazy outfits?!

  10. Rian | 2/10/09

mars in velvet, oh no, not Sweet Vlada! Haha.

  11. MScotton | 2/10/09

I can’t appreciate there bodies at all because of That Horrible Makeup!

  12. boombox | 2/10/09

all of their faces look so horrid.
    yuck.
    that is NOT beauty

  13. Molly | 2/10/09

Super skinny, but they are models, they are supposed to be.

  14. Alexina | 2/10/09

They looks so emaciated, that’s sick. No human being should be that skinny.

  15. Claire | 2/10/09

    Loving the Rick Owens collection.

  16. MsT | 2/10/09

These posts are outrageous and truly sad to see. These girls are too thin to be considered anyone’s picture of health and the fact that individuals actually request to keep posting them is mind boggling to me.

  17. Persephone | 2/10/09

    hmm meh they are skinny.

  18. HMMMMM | 2/10/09

Did anyone see ellen yesterday with the Plus sized models? I would love to see some of them on here.

  19. mel | 2/10/09

Those models are tiny!!! Very unhealthy!

  20. Draccae | 2/10/09

Well, the first one looks awful. The others are skinny but not ill looking really.

  21. BAK | 2/10/09

holy crap… I just got the chills when I saw those pictures. SO CREEPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. kj | 2/10/09

I like the thin look, though it is unhealthy for most. I also like high fashion models because the white girls are almost always very pale like me! so while I may not be 5′10″ and 110lbs I do see my very pale skin tone represented and presented as beautiful :)

  23. rachel s | 2/10/09

I don’t understand how someone could enjoy reading, and looking at pictures of these women who appear to be skeletons. I think having women on the cat walk who are this underweight is a promotion for ED’s. No women could ever be that naturally skinny without starving themselves or having some terminal illness. I think the 1,700 people who voted “yes” are looking for thinspo.
I love reading about celebs who fluctuate a few pounds here and there, not so thrilled at looking at women who suffer from a serious disorder.

  24. spanktacular | 2/10/09

i like the 2nd picture and thats it. non of these girls are all the striking to me – rail thin yes, but striking, stunning, and ridiculously good looking no.

  25. woww | 2/10/09

wowww… i’ve only commented once or twice on this website butttt these girls, especially the first girl in the post post, are terrifyingly thin. I understand its fashion, but i feel like this is taking it to an even worse level. theyre being paid millions of dollars to look like this?… thats what’s even more scary.

  26. Rian | 2/10/09

Rachel, millions of people enjoy looking at skinny models and are fascinated with them. It doesn’t necessarily mean they have ED’s or are looking for thinspo. No need to make this into some big thing when it’s not. ;-)

  27. Monica | 2/10/09

Ugh they are disgustingly underweight, why do people think this is good? I seriously don’t get it.

  28. Les | 2/10/09

is there a reason the one girl isn’t wearing makeup in any of the pics?

  29. aimdawg | 2/10/09

    i think they look GOOD.
it is just as mean to call someone “desgustingly skinny” as it would be to call them desgustingly fat.

  30. Cossey | 2/10/09

I want to pick my teeth with one of them!!

  31. frankie | 2/10/09

    hideous

  32. loveemedo | 2/10/09

face wise-i dont think they are pretty…even in a model sense

  33. meh | 2/10/09

the clothes look so horrid I really can’t concentrate on the models. Maybe it’s just the fact that the clothes look so stand offish that the models don’t look as horrible aspecially since the clothes are so drapey or puffy etc

  34. Barbie | 2/10/09

    Great legs! Bad faces.

  35. panda_bear | 2/10/09

Second, third, and sixth outfits are great, I would wear them anywhere. The others, not so much.

  36. jammaj | 2/10/09

definitely too thin for my liking. I think a lot of people expect high fashion to be beauty though, when often it’s intention is really art .. although I don’t think it’s right at all to profile and encourage models who appear to be sickly to maintain this shape, it does make sense from the designers point of view. hopefully this is just a passing trend and we will start to see more diverse and healthier shapes on the runway .. art & beauty alike shouldn’t be homogenous!

  37. Connie | 2/10/09

Horribly skinny. Their arms and legs look Gumby-ish.

  38. shaun | 2/10/09

yeah i rather look at the celebs and singer. but these girls are really really thin.

  39. shaun | 2/10/09

you also have to remember that sometimes these girls are really young, so they can be naturally that thin. models are sometimes in there early teens, i mean their careers were thought to be over by 25.

  40. moonbel | 2/10/09

Scary, the 1st one frightened me.
I enjoy the model posts because of the fashion, although these outfits are a bit strange. ;S

  41. Elizabeth | 3/10/09

    wow how skinny

  42. justathought | 3/10/09

@ Rian- ur post to rachel is exactly what i was thinking! THANKS :)
the first pic literally took my breath away she looks sick. i understand thin (ie the last girl) but so thin they are unhealthy is horrible. what happened to the industry?

  43. lili | 3/10/09

#2 – Vlada – perfect, gorgeous….a little bit too skinny but she will fill out with years…

  44. mars in velvet | 3/10/09

I’m sorry, but Vlada is 22 years old, not 16. I bet she won’t magically “fill out” once she hits 30..

I love the girl, but there is no denying she follows a disordered sort of eating.

  45. Hullu | 3/10/09

Ooohh I love these catwalk photos! Not because the models are skinny, not my thing, but they have beautiful and interesting faces and the clothes are amazing!

  46. SeeWithoutHavingtoGo | 3/10/09

    Thin!

  47. Amanda | 3/10/09

    Aliens.

  48. pheno09 | 3/10/09

I’ve been on this site for like 3 years I think, so I’m quite used to seeing thin women and even shockingly thin and obviously ill and unhealthy women on here. But those models look sick, especially the 1st one, I don’t want to see that.
I know some women are naturally very thin, but they look healthy because that’s natural for them. Bad pale skin, sunken eyes and thin to the point where you’ve lost your sex isn’t attractive, nor something to promote. I could live without the cat walk stuff, it’s unrealistic.
Those models all have bags under their eyes and hair that looks like straw waiting to drop out.

  49. Helene | 3/10/09

i think they’re beautiful and i love the clothes. people prefer different things, how can that be wrong? and you are not forced to look at this post if you find these models too thin… i think people judge too quickly. not every model is destroyed by anorexia, you know. it is allowed to be natural skinny and/or follow a diet in order to do what they are PAID to do. as long as you’re not forced! and they are not, they are, sometimes unfortunately, choosing this.

  50. Kianna | 3/10/09

I like viewing the runway model sites…some are not so bad and others are “beyond words of description.”! These particular girls are too thin (as I know that they are PAID to look this way) but the outfits here are hideous. It would be nice if either (1) the girls were a tad heavier OR (2) the outfits looked decent but IMO in these pics, neither is the case. HEY, RIAN ….THANKS SO MUCH for TAKING THE TIME OUT OF YOUR WEEKENDS to do Saturday and Sunday posts. It’s nice of you. Everyone deserves a bit of a break now & then…it’s considerate of you to keep us updated on the weekends now too.

  51. Chloe | 3/10/09

i voted yes because of the fashion too:D

  52. sab | 3/10/09

i am a fan skinny girls, but this is just, horrible!! i can not see how anyone could find this attractive!

  53. Elly Mae | 3/10/09

Nothing about these girls is attractive! I think if they were wearing normal hair, clothes and makeup they would be gorgeous- very thin- but gorgeous.

  54. Oksana | 3/10/09

I like this blond hair girl. With nice make up and clothes she could look beautiful.

  55. judea | 3/10/09

People don’t “enjoy” looking at girls this skinny, any more than we “enjoy” slowing down and looking when there is an accident on the side of the road. This is side-show circus stuff. The girls are paid to be walking coat hangers, I understand that, but for every one of these girls who are painfully thin and doing their jobs, there are hundreds of young girls who want to look like them. I would say that 98% of the people who saw these pictures shuddered at them (going by the comments anyway), the other 2% really need help. I’m not saying that to be mean. ED’s are no laughing matter. Most of the people who have them are in complete denial about it and would defend their actions to the death (literally in some cases). Nobody sees it in themselves, so I think it’s fair to say that if anyone thinks these women look good, and desires a weight/body similar to this, than those are some very serious red flags and I hope they get help. (there is no way to word this that doesn’t sound mean, but that’s really not what I’m going for here..lol)

  56. rayosun | 3/10/09

    Interesting to say the least!

  57. Valentine | 3/10/09

The model in the first picture has SUCH skinny legs, how do they hold her up? It just looks really strange! Though actually the others don’t look as scary skinny as I expected, not that they look particularly healthy, but less scary than I expected. I just can’t get over the ridiculously skinny legs of the girl in the top pic!

  58. justyna | 4/10/09

omg, they arent emaciated! emaciated is a BMI under 15 and i would put these models at around a BMI of 18 MINIMUM (except the first, about 17). that is not too skinny for a small frame and most are probably late teens, and in eastern europe there is a better diet and people hit puberty later (less GM pumped into food) so they are probably equivalent of 15-16 in US. most victorias secret models have 21ish BMI (their weight/measurements are a lie).

they are only emaciated by american standards where the average woman is 164lb and 5′4. go to ANY country in europe (exc UK) and these would just be considered slim. maybe a tad too skinny. but not anorexic or emaciated.

obviously you have never seen real anorexic before. ever. go and volunteer at your local eating disorder ward. i have (i am living in australia. there are many fat women but not as bad as america, have been there. never again.). you will be able to tell if someone is anorexic after that, not so much from body, but from their face. none of these look anorexic. maybe they dieted, but healthily. the whole anorexic model thing is blown out of proportion.

i don’t have an eating disorder. i wear a sz 4-6 american and i’m 5′9, thats not too skinny. according to my dr i’m a bit overweight for my height and frame and should lose about the equivelant of a dress size (i weight 160lb and am 38-28-38). but then who knows. that is probably starving to death anorexic by american standards judging by how fat the avg person is there.

americans dont have a right to harp on about anorexia and too skinny when 70% of the population is overweight or obese, and 25% is at risk of becoming overweight or obese in the next 15 years.

also, i have been following some of the more famous models in fashion week (last one, kasia struss, is the only example here) and i can tell you most are a good 15lb heavier

  59. Trille | 4/10/09

    LOOOOOOVVVVEEEEE the second pic!!!

Everything about it; the golden bracelets, the way her make up and outfit is combined wth her fair skin and hair, the turqoise light…..EVERYTHING!

  60. Trille | 4/10/09

    Justyna:

The issue is not their size. I have friends who are very underweight, but lead healthy lives. The real problem with these models is their eating habits. And judging by these pics, combined with what every ex-model has told us, it’s obvious they have a problem. I had bulimia with anorexic tendencies for two years and my lowest BMI was 17.8. We all know that eating disorders are huge in this industrie. Their size is the least thing I’m worried about. Ex-models have told us about diet-competitions, sexual assults whilst doing nude pics, the toilets back-stage of the runway show being bombarded with vomit and diarrhea (due to laxatives abuse) and no one bothers to flush it down since they all do it…

The girls I know that are underweight and healthy, you can’t tell that they are too thin because they have an overall small frame which means that their bones are too small to show through their subcutaneous fat. But these women are too big boned to be that skinny. The body divides its parts into different amounts of per cent that they should exist in. And a healthy person usually has enough body fat that it covers up their skeleton.

Don’t come and tell me these designers managed to find EVERY single woman on the planet that looks like this naturally with a natural life style.

I’m swedish and now normal weight. Why do you think that everyone that complaint about these pics are fat americans?

I have been to an ED center (as a patient), I KNOW what they look like. I think you have spent so much time around the hard core-anorexics that you start to believe that one must have a BMI under 15 to have a serious problem.

  61. miley | 4/10/09

“americans dont have a right to harp on about anorexia and too skinny when 70% of the population is overweight or obese, and 25% is at risk of becoming overweight or obese in the next 15 years.”

that’s the most idiotic thing i’ve ever read. and since you so kindly shared your stats i’m sure it’s no surprise to you that you’re nearly overweight. so your own logic defies you..

  62. Jess | 5/10/09

I agree with Miley. That is a really sick thing to say and I doubt anyone who has worked in ED ward would make a comment like that. What about an American who had lost a loved one to the disease? Are they not allowed to speak up and prevent others losing their friends/sisters/daughters. I think poor body image only contributes to the amount of overweight people in America. You don’t turn to ice cream when you feel good about yourself

To be honest I also think your idea of what size = what BMI is pretty far off. I have a BMI of 21 and would look like a mountain next to a VS model. I doubt these girls have a BMI of 18 either.

  63. Lila | 5/10/09

    Oh! #2, Vlada! Soo beautiful…

  64. Dana | 5/10/09

too skinny for my tastes although they do resemble clothes hangers so I guess that’s the point . . .

  65. a | 5/10/09

    HEY ALL,

THE FIRST ONE’S MY SISTER’S FRIEND AND SHE’S NATURALLY THAT SKINNY, NO JOKE.

She eats A LOT (seriously, you wouldn’t think so but it’s true!) AND she’s also on some of our school’s sports teams.
