why can’t you just use words like “better” or “worse” instead of healthy?
1.of all, how can u tell if a person is really healthy, just because according to you, she/he looks “healthy” weight-wise? how do u know?
2. when u are posting pictures of celebs who aren’t as slim as let’s say a nicole richie or a paris hilton, e.g. britney spears, u tend to say “healthy-looking” quite a lot too, which, in my opinion leaves the aftertase of you basically saying healthy-looking equals thick or someting not as “postive” as slim.
WOW a perfect example of how you can totally turn your life around. Love her body, her hair, her outfit, her personality, her jewelry line, aND she has the cutest kids ever!!! GO NICOLE!

I agree with raluca. When you post with quotation marks around the word “healthier” and then tag the post with “weight gain speculation” it sounds negative. I don’t know why you can’t just say “she seems to have gained weight since…” instead of seeming to sneaky about it…

Rian said she’s is “looking a lot ‘healthier’ these days” implying she appears healthy (notice that healthier is in quotes, insinuating that the meaning of such a word is subjective) and her appearance may or may not reflect the her actual health.
I also don’t think the word healthy is always used to describe someone’s appearance due to weight gain. I often seen it thrown around to describe a celebrity who last month/week/year seemed “sickly” i.e. spotty or sallow skin (different from just being pale), unkempt hair, glazed over eyes, and yes, underweight to the point where a person looks tired, lackluster, and skeletal.
A lot of what determines our perception of a person’s health is based off of the illusion of health (vibrant smile, flattering clothing & makeup, etc.) so I understand raluca’s first point but I’m pretty sure everyone here is aware that looking healthy doesn’t equal healthy.
I have no idea where you were going with your last point but P.Hilton is skinny not slim, and thick is waaaay different from being chubby or fat.
oh & yeah, nicole ritchie looks WONDERFUL here and always has (with the exception of her infamous yellow bikini picture and the first season of that show she did with paris hilton).

Nicole is looking really GREAT!! I, too, think that motherhood “becomes” her. Her legs actually look “normal” (not like two toothpicks). One might even say her legs look a bit toned ? She seems to exude a happiness & confidence. She & her partner, Joel, do a lot of charity stuff. They have this one
called the ‘Richie-Madden Childrens Foundation’ to help kids all over the U.S. And the world, I think?)
Nicole has her jewelry line, House of Harlow 1960 & she has a couple clothing lines plus she is in talks w/ABC to do a some type of sitcom show later on in 2010. Who knew she would turn out so well? Expected her into a LiLo or Mischa! Good for Nicole !!!

@ raluca – as creator of this site, i believe Rian has the responsibility to not be subjective, but objective, in the commentary she posts with the pictures. whereas “better” and “worse” tend to be subjective words used to describe a person’s body, “healthy” and “healthy-looking” are more objective, and can cover a multitude of body types (whether one thinks they are “better” or “worse” than before is completely up to viewer… whereas “healthy” is more encompassing). plus, when using “healthy” with larger celebrities, i think Rian is just trying to be nice

She grew up. Seemingly unlike Paris and her sister who are stunted in their early 20’s. Many celebrities gotta grow beyond their own ego.
But enough of my prosthelytizing…Richie looks fantastic.

In this case it was meant as a huge compliment considering Nicole Richie used to look like an anorexic drug addict.

Oh no! She’s gaining again! I didn’t like her when she was scary skinny, but I don’t like her at this weight either. She looked good a couple of months ago. Hope she doesn’t go back to her unhealthy ways and pack on the pounds she worked so hard to lose!

i think i would like her between this weight and after she had harlow and get pretty thin again. she is tiny. i think she looks better thinner than this, but she is happy looking i can’t complain. lol
Nicole was on ‘Live With Regis & Kelly’ this morning (Tuesday, Feb 16th)in a long brown (also with shades of tan) dress with an attached little shawl like cover-up made of the same material as her dress. The dress was one of her own creations from one of her lines of clothing. She must still be nursing b/c her boobs look a bit “fuller”…like when she was nursing Harlow at “around” the same point in time. Sparrow (her son) born 9-19-09 is just 5 months old (And Nic said he weighs 16 lbs now); so I believe she is probably (IMO) nursing him. The dress she wore at the Letterman taping was gorgeous and showed off just a bit more of her boobs/cleaveage area(s). She is thin (NOT SKINNY) and has cute little curves in just the right areas and in just the PERFECT Proportions for her smaller framed body! I am so thrilled that Nic has been successful at turning her life around so dramatically/successfully. As I mentioned previously, I was (nearly) totally expecting Nic to go down the same path(s) as Mischa Barton and LiLo. I’m so very thrilled & happy for Nicole. She just exudes such a radiance (inside and outside)…an inner peace, happiness, a sense of composure & self-confidence. She is definitely NOT all about herself. Nic puts others (way) ahead of herself. Perhaps, part of that is largely due to her becoming a mom and has FINALLY successfully learned the importance of being unselfish & more “giving of herself” to help others. She is seemingly just more selfless now. I do agree with a few others who posted on her hair color. I liked her hair better when she had it (her hair color) a darker carmel/blonde w/shades of highlights throughout. However, NOW, w/the darker hair…her hair does not look so dried out & a bit lifeless as it did sometimes when she was going through her hair coloring w/different shades of blonde colors.

Yes, she seems to be at her ideal weight here, but for some reason, i don’t like the outfit, cant put my finger on it, maybe is the hair, or maybe is the all black thing, doesn’t suit her skin, she needs more vibrant colours, she looks dull to me, no sparkles here, the shoes are by her own brand, house of Harlow 1960 Rooney sandals.

Someone was asking why is she famous. Well, just look at all these loving comments. Everybody wants good things for her. Her father is Lionel Richie, and she’s been quite successful in being famous herself. Why is anybody famous? What Nicole has done (kicked drug addiction and maybe even anorexia right in front of our eyes), is so much more amazing and inspiring than what many other celebs are famous for! Love love love her!
Hopefully, she’ll shed the rest of the baby weight soon. She is such a goddess when she is about 15-20 lbs lighter.
