Here are some pictures of various skinny and thin models on the runway for New York Fashion Week 2010. These pictures are from the Karen Walker and Diane Von Furstenberg shows.

    They all look pretty skinny – but not shockingly so- the last one looks pretty normal at least her leg area.

    they aren’t that skinny. models in european fashion shows are always way more skeletal.

    They’re skinny but what else can one expect. They’re runway models. They have no choice, either be skinny or you won’t have a job.

    Honestly, they don’t look unhealthy and I think the second gal is really pretty. I think it makes sense to have women & men with lower BMI on the runway since they do look better in clothing in general (though I am not condoning skeletal figures).

    Wtf. They’re all perfectly fine and healthy-looking. I was expecting to see some skeletons in clothes.

    Recall how some people say that we can’t find size 6+ women beautiful because we’ve been brainwashed that they can’t be beautiful? Well I think there is some brainwashing about what is skinny now. These girls are slim, not skinny.

    The first three look skinny (but not shockingly skeletal or something). The last two girls do in fact look healthier than I would have expected. Of course it might be the outfits that give the illusion of relatively wide hips and pretty normal-sized thighs.
    I’m really starting to find the model beauty ideal pretty boring. It’s always the same, all over again. Aren’t the designers getting tired of it?

    the last one looks perfectly healthy to me. wow i wish my legs were thin enough to wear the thigh high stockings so it looks fashionable not slaggish. lol

    Following the general trend of posts I am shockingly surprised and very happy to see the size of the models on the runway. Sure, they’re all skinny but not of them look emaciated or like walking skeletons!

    I realize that skinny will not cease to be the image presented by the fashion industry, so long as the image they present is one of healthy and slender models its hard to complain.

    I’m sure someone will shoot me for saying that fashion models don’t represent what “real” women look like – but models aren’t supposed to be average women, they are paid to be tall, slender, and pretty. Moreover, the average woman in the United States today is overweight so I’m sure that’s not image of health the media should be presenting either.

    All but the first look okay, IMO. Very thin but not as frail as you often see. The first girl looks ill and also like she can barely keep hair on her head…I do like her socks though. Those shorts are just stupid loud.

    I agree, these look thin and healthy. – but i wouldn’t want to look at average size models on a runway. I prefer them on the slim side.

    by average i don’t mean the average person who is overweight – How do I explain that without getting slammed? You know the average woman does not have this physique. She’s fatter. I don’t want to see average fat. I want to see model thin – but not too skinny

    Beautiful models- Definitely A LOT healthier looking and they still made the clothes look awesome. I like the knee socks! ;)

    In contemporary times, these models are in the healthy weight range!Models from the western world are normally good role models when it comes to promoting size0 and bad role models when it come to healthy living and eating!

    They are definately healthier looking as far as runway models go. THe first girl still looks too thin though. Personally if i saw any of these girls, except maybe the last girl, off the runway and didnt know she was a model i would say shes too thin. I think we all judge a model’s body differently. Just because they are models doesnt mean they should be allowed to look or be unhealthy.

    HOnestly, for me they appear more like emaciated, very underweight and weak. “Skinny” isn’t the best description. The last one looks pretty skinny, but the rest just look ill.

    They don’t look skinny at all to me.. they probably all have BMI’s of at least 18.. probably b/c of the ban in milan or wherever of size-0 models

    Wow! they dont look sick at all!
    I think they have pretty good looking bodies, though they could go to a gym insted of starving.
    I wish i had a body like that :C
