Skinny Models On The Yves Saint Laurent Catwalk

Here are some pictures of a few of the super skinny models that walked the catwalk for the Yves Saint Laurent 2010/2011 Fall/Winter Fashion Show at Paris Fashion Week yesterday. (More pics here).

Damn. I wonder what percentage of models working in high fashion today are the real deal naturally skinny/high metabolism girls many say they are, and how many of them are really as unhealthy as they look.

Sandwiches? They need more than that! A good 7 course meal or something. I do envy their incredibly long legs, albeit they are boney.
I love their legs. Wish mine looked like that but you usually have to be pretty underweight to have legs like theirs.
They look great. Besides, they are models.
Oh, the second picture is so hard to look at. That looks like a skeleton in clothes. I don’t find any of these models even remotely attractive, and I love high fashion. This is much too thin.
This does not cause me envy or admiration im not even lookin at the clothes but at the sticks this is just wrong i cant imagine having a baby girl looking up to this kind of people and starving theirselves to death like many have they should put real people or just use hangers which is wat these girls look like im not jealous im pretty sure all these girls are jealous of me tho and all normal people who eat at bbq’s and have ice cream in a park not 2 raisins for the whole day

People, this is not a VS fashion show. The models are not supposed to look like God’s gift to earth. Each fashion house picks out a set of models to walk the runway for their show, and it’s a common rule that they need to share similar body size and facial structures. Apparenly YSL went for the skinniest models because according to them, this body type carries their clothes best.
these clothes are expensive, so obviously they are targeted to people with lots of money aka celebrities. celebrities are very skinny, so why not have models that are super skinny as well???
it all makes sense once you think about it. the people buying these clothes are almost the same size as these models, they arent targeting you and me to buy them because we probably cant afford any so they dont care what we think about the models or clothes.
This clothes give so much volume, a curvier girl would not carry this outfits…

They are look gaunt!! They don’t even have thighs! They look miserable and hungry! They all need to gain 10 lbs!
yikes rian! You’re right, much thinner than the last set. you know typically bc they’re so tall its easier to be thin, but these girls you can tell…it is unnatural and i just feel as if they look like long flag poles! not cute, but then again, they do have to fit the samples…
Love. Honestly, these girls look great. The legs are thin, but I’ve seen WAY thinner.
Catwalk models, believe it or not, have gotten healthier. Their calves show muscle tone, not just bone (at least for some)

To be honest, I don’t even look at the models. They are so thin, they are walking coathangers. The collection is beautiful, I love the first blue dress.

top of that they have to deal with depression,
nausea, being cold all the time, maybe even

Too thin, not pretty or attractive in the least.
I am not going to say that they are not thin girls, nor will I deny that according to the over used BMI system they are probably underweight (however it is incredibly inaccurate because it fails to take into account so many factors which are the reasons we all maintain weight differently), HOWEVER, on the runway, what is one thing they almost always have on? High heels! Why does the everyday woman LOVE her heels? They make her look thinner! Why? Because they are adding inches under you that give you the appearance of being taller, yet with the same measurements = “lower bmi”. 34-24-34 on a person of 5 feet tall isn’t anything shocking, put them in 5 inch heels and they’re looking slim. 34-24-34 on a 5′9 person, in 5 inch heels (making them 6′2) creates an extreme look.

Hmm, let’s see. What would I rather do: starve myself to fit into an Yves Saint Laurent dress or feel free to have a cheeseburger and fries every now and then? I pick the cheeseburger. What would I rather have: legs that look like they belong on a victim in a horrible news story, or healthy womanly legs that have some fat on them? I’ll take the fat. How would I rather spend my life: obsessing about being “tiny” and “fragile,” or actually experiencing the joys of life? I’ll take the joys. You can keep your skinny, bony legs. Thanks.

I’m eating a medium Wendy’s frosty this moment. I’m 5′9, 123 pounds, measurements 33-25-34. Size 2.
I’m also pale like these models because I have light complexion.

you can tell from the second pic with the model her skin color looks very sick like she is malnourished specially with her legs thinness and color.
I’m sorry but even with the heels and their height they are smaller than 34-24-34 by inches.

I don’t think they look that bad compared to what we used to see in the past.
Also wearing ridiculous heels will always make legs look thinner…especially at the thighs.

I just went back & looked at the actual clothes. I think every outfit is butt UGLY. Oh and I hate their handbags too. It’s like they set out to create the world’s ugliest…

@WHOKNOWS: not every celeb who wears YSL is as skinny as this, in fact theres a post of kate winslet wearing YSL at the academy awards last week and shes not even close to these girls sizes!

This is just sick! We need a new word for extremely skinny – just to name this hideous new dimension on how skinny someone can be. I’m sure all these girls have a eating disorder.
If this is healthy, I’m empress of China! How many models have heard/seen admitting to having been stopped from eating healthily. Nearly all of them gain weight when they stop modelling. I think that’s a sure sign indicating that thsi weight is not natural on them!

Yes, all these models are very skinny, but, that’s what the designers want, It makes it easier to fit the clothes on them.

@ OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE: I agree, i used to like the runway posts but now i hate them just for that reason. It annoys me that some ppl cant see how horrible these girls look, so i try and stay away from runway posts
I can’t believe people actually think these models look good! They are not healthy, they are terribly underweight, and look like they won’t live too much longer. Don’t tell me it’s because they are wearing heels, or whatever, their legs are still as thin as toothpicks. This is NOT healthy at all! I feel bad for them, but I feel even worse for the people who think that it is ok to look like that. I mean I’m skinny, but I’m glad I don’t look unhealthy and anorexic, like these models do.
