Wow! He looks amazing.
The newly svelte host of “The Price is Right” showed off his new bod on the red carpet Wednesday night in Beverly Hills, where he told reporters: “It sucks being fat.”
Since losing the weight, “I’m not diabetic anymore. No medication needed.”
And all he had to do was say good-bye to the bread and chips.
“No carbs,” he told People magazine in describing his new diet. “… not even a cracker. No bread at all. No pizza, nothing. No corn, no beans, no starches of any kind. Egg whites in the morning or like, Greek yogurt, cut some fruit.”
[...]
“I like being skinny,” says Carey. “I was sick of being fat on the camera. Really, I just got sick of it.”
What do you all think?

oh, Lord, he looks horrible; he looks like David Letterman!
I hope he is healthy coz he looks like shiznit.
Good for him. He looks completely different (and older). I hope he’s really happy — I certainly wouldn’t be if I couldn’t eat carbs!
Woah! He doesn’t even look like himself! Looks much healthier, but also like he aged 20 years…
Wow, good for him!! I think it’s great that he’s lost so much weight and is so much healthier. He looks really good.
I think it’s healthy and he looks good.
Good for him – he didn’t like what he saw & so actively did something about it – rather than whinging! x
I can’t help but miss the old Drew Carey, he looked so loveable and huggable lol. He looks much older now, but he is taking good care of himself now and that’s what really matters. And he’s happy so good for him.
WTF! he looks waaay older!..I bet he dreams about carbs though
Kudos to him for losing weight and getting rid of his diabetes. That being said, cutting out an entire food group isn’t healthy. When you deprive your body of something completely it will start to crave it, the human body needs carbohydrates. But every body is different and if he’s healthy that’s all that matters. He looks happy!
probably a tummy tuck just like star jones. he doesnt think yogurt has carbs in it? or fruit? what the heck is he talking about.
His weight loss is amazing! But now he looks like an old man.
Wow, he *does* look a lot older. I thought that was Larry King at first glance O_O.
losing weight has aged him alot…but it’s good that he lost weight.
It doesn’t look like him at all! I’m shocked. But maybe I just need to adjust, I was so used to the heavier him. Wow!
First off I’m glad he’s healthy. It’s incredible how many health problems you can get rid of when you drops a few lbs. That being said, his diet seems a little extreme. Does he honestly plan on keeping up with that for the rest of his life?? I can understand no bread, but no beans??
haha Larry King… David Letterman. Yes, he has deff aged himself. Although losing 80 pounds is great for your heart at his old age, eating meat and dairy all day is NOT…. like WTF??? Meat isn’t the answer. but I just hope once he starts eating carbs again he doesn’t balloon up like most people do on those stupid diet. God, hopefully his body isnt in ketosis. And thank you *bros* for mentioning that yes, there are carbs in yogurt. A lot. and tons of calories. so, there
wow! so old looking
OMG I would never have recognized this man! Crazy!!!
Yeah maybe weightloss surgery? but of course just speculation. Whatever he did I’m happy he took a step to get healthier! He does look 20 years older lol but I guess if you’ve been overweight that long your skin stretches and when you lose all of that weight it’s sort of like a deflated balloon. Plastic surgery will take care of that tho!
I bet he means no starch, rather than carbs since fruit and vegetables have plenty of carbs. Anyhow, I think he looks great, but yeah, when you are older and lose weight, you do look aged since you don’t have that fat layer under your skin. Maybe he’ll get a face-lift now?
i dont think he looks bad, but i think people often look younger when theyre overweight because their skin is stretched so you dont see the wrinkles… but yeah, i dont think he looks horrible and his blue eyes look nice. maybe he should color his hair a little?
Good for him! What a difference. I’m not sure I could ever give up bread. The weight loss makes him look older and almost unrecognizable.
“I was sick of being fat on the camera” is a fair point, no one wants to see themselves look fat on screen or in photos. That’s probably why a lot of female celebs always try and make themselves thinner, because I for one would feel better the thinner i looked on camera. But because i dont see myself on screen all the time i’m happy how i am (and i’d rather keep it that way)
No wonder he looks awful from weight loss- he gave up carbs. Ketosis isn’t sexy. If he’d give up meat and dairy and he would look thin AND healthy.
Great job, Drew. He looks very happy and healthy!
I eliminated some bad carbs a long time ago and it made me feel so much better. (pizza, pasta, bagels–not that I ate them very often either–) I don’t crave them at all. It’s a lifestyle change. Your body thanks you for it.
Firstly, he still has diabetes it is just controlled through lifestyle modifications (I know it sounds picky). I applaud him for taking care of himself and he definitely is doing great!
Maybe he didn’t need to loose 80 maybe just 50 or so because the weight loss aged his face like 20 years, jeezz. He looks like a scary old man now.
oh wow, he is a shell of his former self. i’m glad he’s healthy. but like all cats, i liked Drew fat. looking at him makes me want to eat a burrito.
He looks good, but I didn’t even recognize him! I wonder how much this will affect his acting career. Kudos for getting healthy though!
@ Aphrodite: Just because Drew Carey cut out bread, beans, grains, etc., does not mean that he cut out carbohydrate. Fruits, vegetables, they have all the carbohydrate that a person needs. The common misconception is that grains, beans, etc. = carbohydrates. Not true. Fruits and veggies provide them too.
He does looks a lot older. I just looked up his age and it is 52. He definitely looks about 65. Even though his body looks so much better, he really doesn’t look to be healthy. Hopefully he’s getting the nutrition he needs.
Wow! I think he looks good, EXCEPT he aged about 20 years! Drew Carey didn’t look this old when he was bigger. But I’m glad to hear his diabetes is gone. Health is always important. But Carey, it doesn’t hurt to enjoy a sandwich!
Plain Greek Yogurt (unflavored and sf/ff) has only 6 carbs per serving. I have some in my fridge which is how I know this…
I don’t think I would of recognized him without the caption. He looks so much older, and he doesn’t look all too well…
Looks AWFUL and ILL!!!! I hope he is ok. Looks like he’s aged 40 yrs!
I think he looks hot. I’d hit it.
I saw another photo of him on a different site and he didn’t look nearly as old as this pic.
Congrats to him for taking care of himself.
Whoa! Good for him!
well his body looks better but he’s got some yellowing and dryness in the face.. that can’t be good
I can’t believe anyone could keep at that kind of diet for the rest of their lives. Extreme diets never seem to work in the long run… I hope he doesn’t start eating more normally, gain weight, and feel badly. A little more “carb” weight would not hurt him at all.
I think he maybe should find a better diet than no-carb, because he is looks drained.
well no duhh he looks older! he lost weight and if you lose a substantial amount of weight after a certain age you will suddenly see wrinkles that never existed before!!
“If he’d give up meat and dairy and he would look thin AND healthy.” <–yay amanda! i agree.
Leave Drew Alone. He did this to better himself. I am glad to see him doing what I really need to do too. Kudos to Drew for realizing you can’t stay fat forever and be healthy.
I never thoughT losing weight could age a person so much! wow.. I don’t know what else to say..
omgg i didnt even recognize him!!!! holy crap he lost his face along the way too r u sure thats him?
LoL he looks like hugh hefner
I was born and raised and still live in Cleveland, so Drew is our big celebrity here (Haha Lebron now being our big enemy
and the Drew Carey show used to be on all the time- I am SHOCKED at how he looks now! Woah! Good for him for being healthy but wow I would have never guessed! Interestingly enough, just a few years ago it was a big story here he loves this specific pizza place in Cleveland, and would have tons shipped out to California so he could still eat it, guess not anymore!
He looks much, much better without the extra weight. I hope he keeps it off and doesn’t become the male version of Kirstie Alley.
I am happy for him for getting healthy and fit! Although I do hope he does NOT lose more weight anymore! I kinda miss the old Drew thought but health is definitely more important. He does look older thought – and the gray suit and ashen hair adds to his older look! BTW, he should start carbs – it’s not healthy to omit carbs for life!
OMG HE LOOK LIKE 70′S YEARS OLD
Pizza, corn, beans I could forgo, but I could NEVER live without bread!
I think he looks like a younger Larry King now. I also think he’s an idiot since he doesn’t seem to know that FRUIT IS LOADED WITH CARBS. Way to preach like an idiot, you fool.
who is he??
wow… he looks so different. i would think he would look a lot healthier but he looks unhealthier after the weight loss
Im glad he got healthy…..but i kind of miss the old lovable drew carey
Is it just me or did he lose that weight QUICK!!!? I guess they are on break from filiming the price is right b/c i watch it every now and then and hes still fat on the show!
Wow losing all that weight really aged him!!!
Drew Carry looks older here because he IS older. He hasn’t been in the spotlight for years. Plus, waiting until your 60s to lose weight will do a number on your face due to its decreased inelasticity. That just comes with age.
@Laryssa, are you confusing ketosis with ketoacidosis? The former isn’t dangerous to begin with, as you seem to be indicating – and I’m willing to bet a year’s salary you aren’t an M.D., too. To compensate for that, it would behoove you to do some research on what you’re making statements about.
Low carb is not only great for getting rid of excess body fat, but it is unparalleled when it comes to improving glucose, cholesterol. Hit up Google for some success stories, because there are a TON out there.
* Typo: 50s.
It’s so much easier for men to cut out carbs than women. Men typically crave meat, and women crave carbs.
Good on you, Drew! If you watch some of the video footage where he talks about the weight loss, he really does seem so much happier now – he’s got a bit more of a spark in him!
I commend anyone who can put in so much hard work to become not only healthier but happier.
Of course he looks older – the fat that filled out his cheeks is gone. The big thing here is that he is no longer diabetic. That’s fantastic!
The bad thing about being formerly obese and then losing much of the weight is that all the fat fills out your face and then you lose it and your face kinda hangs and gets all these lines.
But great for him for getting healthy!
He doesn’t look really look that old. He looks like a healthy man in his early fifties, which is what he has become. Sure, obese people sometimes have big, fat moon faces that make them look like amorphous blobs of indeterminate age and gender, but in no way do they look better.
He doesn’t even look like himself anymore. I know it has aged him, but he’ll live longer because of the loss.
Ah, the number of people that believe that going low carb cracks me up. People started experiencing diabetes, obesity and disease when agriculture started. Agriculture brought wheat and grains, driving up our insulin levels and creating problems that our bodies couldn’t adapt too. I have been low carb for three years and do not plan to go back. My skin is rid of acne, my blood tests are better, I feel and look better. Don’t knock it until you try it for 30 days. And go read Good Calories, Bad Calories.
I agree he looks bad. Some people just look better with a bigger body structure. Now he looks like a used up druggie.
Even if he does look older he looks better. Good for him.
oh my goodness, i’ve never seen him with a defined jaw! I’m going to have to get used to this look…happy he’s healthier and no longer needing diabetes meds
I think he looks fantastic! Who knew there was such a handsome man under there? I definitely prefer a few NORMAL wrinkles(the man is 52)on a healthy trim guy over a portly teddy bear man.
(However, that fugly soul patch on his chin is a deal breaker. Kindly shave that shiz off)
He looks 80 years old! Wow – not in a good way.
Awesome for him for getting healthy! I hope he keeps it off because keeping the weight off is harder than losing it in the first place. He looks like he’s aged A LOT, but losing a lot of weight can do that to a person.
I agree with the comments applauding for being health, but wow, he doesn’t look anywhere near as adorable as he used to. I thought he was a total cutie at his previous weight! Glad he’s happy though.
yikes
I think he looks great! Too bad he didn`t do it when he was younger, I think he`d probably be quite attractive at 20 and thin.
WHAT !!!!!!!!!! good for him though… dang he aged
My comment seems to have disappeared.(?) In essence I said that I really liked Laryssa’s comment. (:o]
*wink, wink*
No carbs but he eats fruit? Skewz me, fruit = carbs. But good for him anyway lol.
i bet he busted his ass to lose weight. there must have been some serious eating and lifestyle changes for him to go through, and here everyone is writing about how “he looks so much older” and “fruits have carbohydrates” blah blah blah. i wish i could cut someone’s success down that easily.
pathetic.
I don’t think he looks good at all. Yes, it is in some ways healthier for him. But cutting carbs and going higher protein is very hard on the liver.
And I agree he looks much older now. He wasn’t a blob to me (according to a comment above) – in fact, I knew he was overweight but he didn’t look THAT fat to me.
BTW, he looks just like David Letterman to me. If he had different hair, I would have sworn it was Letterman.
WHOA!! He looks so different! I almost didn’t recognize him. Good for him =) Hope he’s healthy now.
Drew looks amazing, and he looks happy. For those of you who are “low carb is bad”, blah blah blah, just know that I had this conversation with my physician. She told me there is NO medical evidence to prove it’s unhealthy. I personally think it is healthier than the vegan lifestyle, as you get MORE variety. What do you think the cavemen ate? Tofu and pizza? Hardly. I applaud him, and I don’t think he looks older. I think he looks content, and I seriously doubt he would rather have pizza than his new found health and well-being. Well done, Drew! You are an inspiration!
It looks like he lost it too quickly. It has aged him at least a decade. It’s depressing that a person can work so hard to lose and end up looking worse. But, it’s better to look old and not have diabetes.
@Rae: I think the cavemen only lived to be about 30, tops. Anyway, they got lots of exercise and probably only supplemented their diets with what animal products they could catch. The main diet consisted of raw fruits and vegetables, which were much easier to come by.
If this was the only way he could lose weight and not be diabetic, I guess it was OK for him. There is plenty of scientific evidence to support the fact that the vegan lifestyle is the only way for people to live past 100 and be healthy and active. (Do a web search on the earth’s ‘blue zones’ and you’ll find supporting information on this.) Drew will probably live longer than if he remained diabetic but you can’t cut out a large portion of a healthy diet (complex carbohydrates) and expect to have a long healthy life in general.
When he said “no carbs”, I think we can all assume that he obviously meant starches. It would be pretty impossible to completely eliminate carbs from your diet, as both fruits and vegetables (and dairy) contain carbs. So everyone that is getting worked up about him not eating carbs should calm down and get their nutrition facts straight. Additionally, you cannot really apply sweeping generalizations about what is “healthy” for every single person in the world; his body may simply respond well to eating more vegetables/protein/fruit than it does to starch. Anyways, so much of the starch available out there isn’t healthy anyways (so much of it is processed/with white flour), and it is truly a challenge to find products that are genuinely healthy.
Damm!I just came frome the price is right show and WOW!! I was shocked!! I was at the show in march also and he looked himself big burley he lost about 70Lbs in about 4 months and we thought he looked sick his clothes hung on him and he is flabby under the chin the man looks like he has cancer I think he looked better before we will just have to wait for the truth to come out. I hope and pray that there is nothing wrong with him but I dont know he looks bad
