I don’t know if anyone watches top model, but i think its interesting that they sent home that really skinny girl when she is probably just as thin if not thicker then some of these girls.

Their legs are terrible, just how muchy wider the knees are than their thighs. Especially the 4th and 5th models. So true about the skeleton dress lol.
Some skinny, some too skinny. But nothing unusual for runway models.

Could someone please explain to me why the fashion industry thinks that their clothes look better on skeletons? I never understood why models had to be this sickly.

they’re even tinier in person. i don’t think it’s necessary for the models to be this skinny. if anything, it detracts from the overall beauty of the garments.
this is actually sad. I fee very bad for girls who think that they have to do this to themselves for whatever reason.

I like skinny frames that draw attention to the clothes, but this crosses the line – they’re so terribly skinny that my eyes go right past the clothes to the frightening frame.
Oh I saw ANTM too. I think that the show is looking for more healthier models. I don’t think the model (anamarie) would be rejected from other agencies for being “too thin.”
Is this supposed to be considered beautiful? Because it’s not. It’s sickening. All these girls are just a minute away from passing out or dieing from the pressures of being thin and ‘beautiful.’ Quite disgusting what society asks of people for clothes!

Women this thin remind me more of nursing home patients than healthy young vibrant women…..sad.

Fashion Week itself is always raising the models-are-too-thin-debate again and again.What is mostly true,no question.
Wow,they look SICK,like,even skinnier than last year?But to be honest, I feel no pity.
I want to see models on the catwalk(slim,tall etc)…but THAT?Women who starve themselves to look like 13yr old girls.
They must be the best clients for their dealers.
I have to admit I like the look of bones on a girl. But the sad thing is that I am realistic and I KNOW that these models starve and sacrifice their bodies in order to look this thin………. The media is always trying to telling you “these people eat healthy balanced diets” Blah blah blah. It’s all a lie. They only eat so they wont be criticized for having an eating disorder.

although i feel really bad for what these girls must go through and all that they do to themselves to keep their job in the fashion industry, i have to say that i was distracted by the clothes. i love the styling of this show (except for the skeleton dress lol) and wish i could afford nanette lepore
If you think that men think this is attractive… I feel sorry for you. A REAL man wants a REAL woman. None of this stick thin business. I understand you have to be skinny to be a model but this is just sickening. It is not attractive what so ever.

I get that they are catwalk models.. and some (most..?) of them are very very naturally thin and lean. That’s why they are models. but seriously that 3rd girls legs. wow. it reminds me of allegra.v. its very sad. She looks extremely ill.

you can talk all you want about ‘naturally thin’ models but i’m not buying that crap. i used to look like this when i weighed 42kg (I was 15 years old anorexic living off apples and running 20km a day). this makes me so sick.
these girls aare stunning….they have the most gorgeous legs and shoulders….and collarbones

I hope that these pics show aspiring skinies that being underweight doesn’t do your face any favours, because facewise neither of these girls look good. Better yet, they look downright miserable and therefore unattractive (to me at least).

@Katie, haha you are blind. Men do not find this attractive at all, in fact a man once quoted that only gay men find girls this skinny attractive. They want meat on their bones. Okay:
1. Most of the women here like to keep their bodies at a certain weight/shape/size because they like how it makes them feel about themselves. Not to impress men. A lot of us actually pity women who try to shape their bodies with the goal of impressing men, but mostly we just realise that it’s a sad reality of the patriarchy and try to avoid falling into that sad trap ourselves.
2. Some of us aren’t straight. I’m queer. I couldn’t give a crap about what men think of how I look.
3. Some of us are skinny. I’m underweight. Am I not a “real” woman then? Nonsense. Skinny women are women. You don’t get to define people’s genders for them, especially not based on something as arbitrary as weight.
Read some more of the comments around here before chipping in next time. You’ll get more of a flavour of the place.

I used to think these kind of bodies were perfect but I dont think so anymore maybe thats why I am not thin now. I think it is just sick when people like it and die for “perfection”. This whole thing anorexia as a fashionable desease is completely stupid and people who follow it and starve to death they just have no brains. Who is gonna give u a prize for starving to death when you are dead?
I think they look great! All except the girl in the 4th pic – her thighs are soooo tiny it looks like her muscles are wasted. But the rest look amazing
i am completely shocked! those girls are ill, they look awful and its uncomfortable to look at! in a way people are not looking at the clothes anymore, its a competition to see which model is the thinnest.

@maddie: You are entitled to your opinion as everyone else. And you’re probably right that not every man likes curvy girls. But the majority does.
My husband watched ANTM with me the other day and said “who the f*** likes looking at this???” And the ANTM girls are not even as skinny as the models in the pictures above.
From a health point of view these models will have difficulties getting pregnant at a later date, they will have problems with their bones and all sorts of other health problems.
This makes me want to eat as opposed to starve myself. It’s disgusting. They look like they belong amongst the starving adults and children in poverty stricken countries. I cant understand it… it’s utter madness that this is considered ok.

I miss the supermodel 90’s when the models were actually sexy and feminine not like gross little grey teenage boys. Not to mention actually being pretty doesn’t seem to be a requirement to be a model these days. WOLF!!!!

Horribly frightening. What we are all looking at here are desperately malnourished girls who are at risk of osteoporosis, infertility, and other lifelong syndromes.
yuckkkkk…i would die to go to these shows but just to see the clothes..but these girls do nothing for me. i watched that episode of top model and i htought annamaria was actually very pretty but her personality was horrible and i did think she looked to thin. i love skinny…i hate sickly. and the one that does look like a sick horse has beautiful shoes.
these are some anorexic b*tches. seriously, they make great clothing hangers, but how anyone can honestly aspire to be this thin is beyond me.

Ewwwww…I don’t mean to be offensive, but I feel so sorry for these women! I’m sorry, but NO job is worth risking your health for especially a short lived one! All I see is bones, it’s sad.
This is not attractive at ALL and they say these girls are coat hangers to display the clothes, well I’m sorry with these girls being so thin I can’t even focus on the clothes all I can focus on is how sickly they look!

I find this “real women” stuff downright offensive and sexist.
I´m not a real woman either (btw, what am I then? A thing?) at least according to the standards of those who think that one´s gender is definded by their mass of body fat.
There´s nothing wrong with being thin, as long as it´s your own decision, not something forced upon you by society, media or the opposite sex.
1) Makeup is probably a large factor into the models having “round and healthy” looking faces.
2) I’ve heard a majority of men say they like curvy girls, however there are some that say they like skinny ones too… healthy skinny. Clearly these girls are not healthy. All it pretty much comes down to is that men like women that take care of themselves whether they’re thin or not thin, and any woman that’s confident in herself is a REAL woman… I don’t understand this “I’m fat so I’m real” crap going on lately.

These girls may be naturally thin but clearly all taken it a step too far. Muscle wasting is clearly apparent which is a big sign of starvation. The skeleton costume is supposed to be ironic, but if that model does happen to have an eating disorder this must be extremely humiliating. I think the modelling industry is a sick and twisted place tbh.

Oh man… I am so disturbed by these pictures. Some people you can tell are naturally thin, but others, like these models, you can tell they are not meant to look like this. If you don’t think these models are starving themselves, you are naive and only kidding yourself. This has gotten so out of hand, we’re going to start seeing models dropping dead on the catwalk. And for what?? They look horrible, their bones distract from the outfits they are wearing… they look fragile, exhausted, sick…

i love progressivelements post! I get tried of reading comments from women saying stuff like “oh men dont like skinny women” or even (though much rarer) “men only like skinny women” – can we please take the focus off men?? I couldnt give a rats behind what “men prefer” (though something tells me, shocking as it may sound, not all men are the same! They have *gasp* differing tastes?!) I care about how I feel towards my own body, and im not going to let my weight or shape be determined by men, let alone be determined by what women claim men like.
Does anyone ever consider that men say whatever the hell they think you want to hear anyway? Example – my old roomie was very voluptous and yes overweight, she was also short and with very dark hair. I’m basicly her opposite, and we’d laugh at how the same men would still hit on BOTH of us on nights out – and they’d say to her stuff like, oh I love your curves, more cushion for the pushin, I dont like skinny chicks, and to me they would say the opposite lol! Guys just say whatever they think makes us happy – truth is most guys would take anything with a vagina and a pulse.
These women are ’scary skinny’ for sure. I honestly don’t know how they eat so little and are still able to function and walk down a runway without fainting.

I don’t know why I read the ’skinny model’ comments..lol I’m always left feeling sad. The inevitable comments saying they look great; wanting to emulate this look..I think if a person truly thinks the above women look ‘good’ and healthy, they need to seek therapy. Very, very distorted…

This is truly sick these girls should not be glorified on a runway, they should be in a mental health facility for eating disorders!!! This is not normal, healthy or even attractive! These girls are truly abusing their bodies, and will have residual effects down the road. I hope they never want to have a baby, as this can ruin reproductive health. It can also cause heart failure. This is just sad!
it’s funny i’ve always had “issues” about my fat knees, but at this moment i’m happy they aren’t that up there. a couple of those girls are starting to look like their bones are twisting or something

Geeez Louise! I miss the models of the 90’s. Cindy, Linda, Christy, Naomi. They were all thin, but they had nice shape to them. These models now just look plain gross!
