ugh. i guess i’m just not programmed to want to look like this. it just makes me want to eat a burrito and take a hike. yes, i think that’s what i’ll do right now!

  2. yo | 31/01/11

they’re all very thin, yes, but i have seen worse. the woman with the see-through bralette especially looks pretty normal. For a model.

  3. kai | 31/01/11

Some of them aren`t too skinny while others doesn`t seem to eat at all.

  4. ki.bot | 31/01/11

I agree with Kai. I’m a runway model and I’ve seen waaaaaaaaay skinnier than this

  5. happyvegetarian | 31/01/11

Yeah- I don’t they are too thin, but some are naturally that way, but i do know that some of the models starve themselves to get like this because i’ve seen some of their before and after pictures- but these girls here don’t look that bad.

  6. Rose | 31/01/11

Only a couple of these girls look skinny. Most look pretty good actually. A marked improvement when I consider the looks of some of the runway models that are posted on here. Is it possible that things are actually improving in the industry?

  7. Jo | 31/01/11

Doesn’t the first girl almost look like she could be a really skinny Jessica Simpson?

  8. Luxx | 31/01/11

N°2 and 3 are too skinny for my taste…

  9. morticia | 31/01/11

number 3 in the pink dress is a bit to frightening all around for my taste…she’s a scary looking beast, face looks like a mugshot! WTHEF??!…wow….LOVE an adore the styling on the #2 girl…fantastic/inspired…yes, they are runway models they remain too thin for the most part….

  10. Dee Twiddle | 31/01/11

no one extremely thin here…they are actually curvier than runway models we’re used to see
    AND it’s an improvement

  11. Jade | 31/01/11

That’s gross how the second one wants to make herself even bonier. Can’t stand when celebs do those awkward poses trying to make their clavicles stick out as much as possible. That’s supposed to be attractive? And the second one is not pretty at all! The 4th looks pretty good.

  12. cossy | 31/01/11

    Love the nips!

  13. toot | 31/01/11

Only #2 looks too skinny to me (those arms!). And #1 looks more like an attractive Chloe Sevigny to me than she does a skinny Jessica Simpson (@ Jo).

I see that Karl Lagerfeld has deemed the ballerina flat to be the new height of chic. At the Chanel show last week there were no high heels on the runway, only flats. Yay for flats! In or out of style, who cares what Karl says, they’re always finding their way onto my feet. And I’m only 5′3.

  14. Bree Ann | 31/01/11

Anyone know what designer no. 2 is? (I’m inclined to say Christian Dior…?)

I mean, I don’t want to look like them, but they sell the clothes. A couple maybe aren’t so cute in the face, but still – they don’t look unhealthy to me.

  15. Diana | 31/01/11

Yes they are skinny. But definately not too skinny for the runway!

  16. Diana | 31/01/11

    *definitely :)

  17. Karolina | 31/01/11

Yuk-o. The only one that isn’t too terribly thin is the one with the see-through bra.

  18. jed | 31/01/11

Paris Hilton got so much publicity for her “fuller” figure on a Brazil runway this weekend, that I suspected she padded her clothes to exaggerate the effect. She looked a lot thinner boarding a plane to leave.

  19. MsCotton | 31/01/11

they look good. a reason they seem more thin is the height and lengthy limbs. i wouldn’t mind the extra height!!!

  20. MsCotton | 31/01/11

certainly not too thin especially for a model.

  21. bd53 | 31/01/11

the first one is gorgeous. very thin but it looks natural.

  22. ERK | 31/01/11

was italy one of the countries that was cracking down on unhealthy models? I know Spain was but I can’t remember if Italy was too.

  23. SkinnyRiot | 31/01/11

@bd53 – seriously??! It looks “natural”?? lol. i dont think so hunnie…

  24. Lisa S. | 31/01/11

Anyone know who did the lingerie bit?

  25. Bree Ann | 31/01/11

@Rian – any chance you can tag the designers on these?

  26. HB | 31/01/11

Not a fan of the weird lingerie with the chains. It’s just not that interesting. Some of these girls are very thin, like the blonde with the kitty makeup, but some are sort of average for runway models, shockingly thin in real life. I think I like the black one’s body most of all, so fit and strong looking.

@Jo- yes! I thought the same thing.

  27. kx23 | 31/01/11

“number 2″ has name you know. She is named Ginta Lapina. I think it would be nicer for Rian to actually post the names of the models because they’re actually like.. Real people!

  28. carrie | 31/01/11

Joe, yes, I thought it was her actually. Im like, what diet is she on? LOL!!

  29. puregoldendreams | 31/01/11

    gross to all of them.

  30. zilla | 1/02/11

lol number 3 looks like a man

  31. Mickey von Dutch | 1/02/11

The Skinny must have desensitized me, because to me they look in general less emaciated than before. However, I still believe that most designers have a problem with women. Why else would you turn beautiful girls like this into emotionless, unattractive robots?

  32. Janel | 1/02/11

Please post gulianna rancic pics from the sag awards. The one picture I saw made her look painfully skinny and I want to see if she is really that thin from a different angle.

  33. Karolina | 1/02/11

Mickey Von Dutch~ very well said! You described them perfectly: “emotionless, unattractive robots”. I don’t get it either. They seem to be stripped of their beauty. You’d think they’d want to play up/ accentuate their beauty. Its weird.

Models have never appealed to me. Like who wants to dress like this in real life, or dress up, or ever?? I always think the clothes is ugly and the robotic emotionless models sure don’t help my (lack of) interest!

  34. Tara | 1/02/11

I’m sorry, but girl 4 doesn’t look that skinny. That’s how I look after a weekend partying and barely eating.

  35. Tara | 1/02/11

Oh and I also vote for the names of the models posted!

  36. Diamond Sea | 1/02/11

aye it’d be better with designers, so it’s not just [hi we're gorping at thin women]
and its bloody hilarious how you all are saying theyre not that thin – everytime!

  37. Jane | 1/02/11

I agree with kx23 by the way — models should be named. I know that they are treated in the industry as though they are nameless, virtually worthless commodities, but they ARE people, and I always think of them as individuals.

  38. Jess | 1/02/11

@ Bree Ann – No2 is Ginta Lapina in Christian Dior Couture

  39. zoe | 1/02/11

Awww Ginta is so beautiful. Love her.

  40. zoe | 1/02/11

@ Lisa S.: The lingerie line is Etam, I believe. Terrible lighting.

  41. so | 1/02/11

the 2d one (blonde) is scary :/

  42. Emily | 1/02/11

All of them look completely normal to me, for thin tall women. Nothing that would make me think of EDs or obsessing over skinniness or the sorts. I was sort of surprised to see a group of such “normal” looking model bodies.

  43. Emily | 1/02/11

Just to add: it is a definite plus not to see mere bones for once!

  44. niCk | 1/02/11

This is one of the first times I’ve seen runway fashion and really wished I knew where I could get it because I’d actually wear it. The blond in the second picture, if that dress were white and silver instead of black, I’d wear it as my wedding dress. Just gorgeous. The first dress and the lingerie are beautiful as well. I’d be scared to put on the pink dress though for fear of sprouting thunder thighs too. Eek.

  45. Rick | 1/02/11

all those models are beautiful and yummy. they could keep me around the house real easy.

  46. Matilda | 1/02/11

The problem I have with these runway models are that they are nameless faces to me, so I am emotionally detached if that makes any sense? They are walking clothes hangers. I don’t mean to offend people who do this for a job and obviously there are great models out there who have that bit of extra that makes them into supermodels (personality?) but there are thousands of young girls who work as models and as long as these girls are willing to do as they are told by their agents and the designers nothing will ever change, meaning we will always see skinny and emaciated women on the runway.

  47. toot | 1/02/11

Runway models really are meant to be walking clothes hangers, showing off the clothes, not the beauty, personality or emotions of the model. Too much noticing the model herself detracts attention away from the clothing. An emotional model could present a problem, all those tears running down the front of the garment, mascara everywhere. I would be really upset if my hangers did that.

@ niCk- ha ha, I always assumed you were a male. Until today when you mentioned wearing a white #2 as your wedding dress. (Not that there’s anything wrong with a man wearing a wedding dress, of course)

  48. niCk | 1/02/11

@toot. :) Lol. Definitely not a male. I realized after I’d been posting for a while that ppl would obviously assume that but niCk is just a nickname I had for a long time. My real name is Laura, but I prefer niCk for a single name on sites like these.

  49. toot | 2/02/11

Yes, of course, I should have realized that! (Doesn’t every Laura have the nickname niCk?) (:o]

What about you, RiCk? Is your nickname Lisa?

  50. yin | 2/02/11

    the first is the best

  51. niCk | 2/02/11

@toot, I used to use far too many drugs :) Which is where the nonsense name came from. No one I know now has a clue about it but ‘niCk’ still reminds me of some of the funnest times I had with fun ppl, although I can’t imagine ever being back there.

Seriously, can someone please tell me who makes the black strapless dress? I’m sure I could have it made in white.

  52. isobel | 3/02/11

The black strapless dress worn by Ginta Lapina in the second photo was made for the Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring 2011 collection. It will probably sell exlusively to a rich socialite for the price of a luxury car. You can get replicas of these dresses made quite easily by dressmakers, but obviously without the quality and services a couture house offers.

  53. Matilda | 3/02/11

@Isobel: what “normal” person can afford to go haute couture shopping? As for quality… some replicas are made quite well and I’m not sure what kind of services I would need from a couture house once I bought a dress. What, they come over and zip me in when my husband isn’t here? LOL

    @toot: LOL ;-)
