@Jackie: 100-200 calories. It’s one of the lowest impact exercises like yoga.
Didn’t she said she didn’t do much to lose the weight she gained after giving birth? Like only some yoga once a week or something like that? How sad of her to lie, what’s the point? You’re considered beautiful AND you want to be considered supernatural too?
She is so skinny, but fit at the same time. I really think she has a great figure-and you could tell she works hard for it. I definitely wouldn’t mind having her body.

Pilates can go up to 300 an hour, adjust for your frame, of course. It’s more for toning or flexibility, definitely not high impact. She really has no breasts.

@jackie—Pilates can actually burn TONS of calories. IT depends on your teacher. Mine uses a jump-board to do little cardio intervals too. It is much more involved that yoga, esp when done with the reformer…

No boobs?? Well it must be her feet I’m seeing then because she does NOT have a flat chest.
And the thing in her ear is… her ear. It’s just kind of a big ear. Better to hear with. But at least it doesn’t stick out anymore– when she was 11 she had her ears pinned.
I would feel so self conscious if I had to be in pilates class with her!
Kudos to Ambrosio (you can almost taste that name) for taking a regular Pilates class instead of hiring some Tracy Anderson clone. Yep, being a Dutch Calvinist I like my celebrities firmly grounded.
Looks wise she is not exceptionally, but she undeniably does have photogenic features. Her body looks ready for a bikini shoot on a Bounty Island. Which immediately brings me back to the thus called choclate bar, a coconut filling enrobed with a thick layer of dark choclate. Then again, for me all roads lead to choclate.

I only did pilates for a few months everyday (really gotta start again), and I definitely noticed a difference. It did wonders for me, I can only imagine what it can do for Alessandra. She has always looked skinny but VERY toned to me, unlike say Miranda Kerr pre-preggers.
Reformer classes like these are way, way overpriced!! I go to a mat class every now and again and they are great (with an experienced instructor). Tough but really efficient at working “forgotten” muscles. I have scoliosis, so it helps and it makes my lower abs kinda sexy if I do say so!! lol.
The primary reason for having a pilates practice isn’t to burn calories though if that is what you are looking for. Although, anything that builds muscle will help you to burn extra calories while your body is at rest, i.e. sitting. If you really need to burn calories, interval cardio is your friend.

well, she has a great body but I’m not impressed; Alessandra without make-up is an average girl like you can meet in any city, thanks to make-up artists.
I didn’t know people were still doing Pilates. She looks great, though. She never, EVER wears her hair up or back in any way, so it’s nice to see that here.

@daniella….mat classes are meant to be done after you have mastered the equipment. the mat classes are just supplemental and joseph pilates meant for mat to be done once you have complete awareness of the body and choreography of the exercises. equipment classes, though more expensive, are MUCH more effective and also more supportive, as you have a carriage/chair/cables/etc supporting your body weight while doing the movements as opposed to holding everything there with your own core strength. (usually people end up gripping in their hip flexors, or neck, and cause undue strain). as a certified pilates instructor, i suggest lots of equipment classes before you start taking mat classes, otherwise you are cheating yourself. isn’t your health/strength/well-being worth the price tag?

Pilates are AMAZINGGGGGGG! I love them:) I would guess they burn between 300-400 calories an hour! You can work up quite the sweat if you take a challenging class!
effortless beauty. never tried Pilates, i have different output needs. 300-400 calories per hour?? – not gonna work for me. . .it’s more like 1000 per hour, that’s how i roll.

So unafair she looks great while sweating and working out! But at least she’s not one of those models that claims she doesn’t work out, eats whatever she wants and stays so super slim, or that the only exercise is ‘chasing after her kid’.
Well i have been doing pilates for 10 years. It does wonders to your body, but you have to be consistent. I’m 43 and get commets about whow good I look, even from girls half my age. So I can say that it’s an excelent exercise.

Pilates is mind/body. Cardio has its place, but to become aware of your muscles;how they work and align, Pilates is the key. As you learn the technique it actually gets harder, that is why mat should be taught last. You need to learn how to hold your body, how to breathe and how to isolate when necessary. Once you learn these pieces Pilates gets harder and you get real results. Unfortunately people say that Pilates is not ‘for them’ because they haven’t learned correctly. Additionally once you learn the correct postures and breathing they carry over to cardio and your cardio and or weight workouts are more effective. CROSS TRAIN!!!!

@Mickey von Dutch I agree! That Tracy Anderson has some effed up views on fitness and health anyway, such a scam. It’s refreshing to see celebrities taking matters into their own hands, playing sports, taking regular gym classes and not depending on trainers yells at them and tell them exactly what to do.

she looks great as per usual. it’s nice to see her working out like the rest of us instead of just being ‘naturally’ skinny. i do cardio muay thai and it’s the best workout ever, but at my gym (which is a mixed martial arts/boxing gym) they incorporate a lot of pilates moves into every class for ab work.

I really do appreciate your guidance as an instructor, although I, personally, just do not have the money, it is not a matter of “worth” for me. Rent, groceries and bus fare come before everything. And I like to eat good food. I have been practicing mat for almost 8 years and I do find it very, very helpful as I mentioned for scoliosis. I am happy I came across it. I also use foam rollers, bands, ring, etc. I use a ladder barrel whenever I get the chance. I do understand what you are getting at with classical pilates, however. I also find Franklin method and Gyrokinesis offering me relief too.

Why is everyone so excited that Pilates burns “300-400 calories an hour”? So does walking, and you can easily burn up to 800 calories in sixty minutes on a Stairmaster.
That said, Ambrosio is gorge and I would love to have that figure. Just as soon as I grow two inches.
This woman is a one of a kind, natural beauty. If she walked into my pilates class I’m pretty sure I’d faint, along with the rest of the class. So refreshing to see a natural and confident beauty.

the thing is, it isn’t hard to figure out after you wonder. it’s her job to be that wonderfully in-shape. there are people who don’t have it as there job to look that good, and still they do. finding out someone does pilates isn’t a huge surprise. “oh my god I had no idea! I thought she just woke up every morning like that!”

MentallySkinny- why are you calling A.A. a liar? You have no idea what you’re talking about and apparently neither do some others on here. A.A. has stated in interviews that she had to work really hard to lose the baby weight. She had to diet and exercise almost every day just like everyone else. Geez people, get your facts straight before you hate on someone.
