FAQ

Updated August 7, 2009

Here are some answers to many of the questions I receive frequently either via email or in the comments section.

My comments aren’t showing up. Why??????????!!!!!!!!!!!
Please see the Comment Rules page – it’s possible that you may have broken a rule without knowing it. Otherwise, your comment may be in moderation. I have a mile-long list of words, IP addresses, email addresses, etc that are automatically filtered. Which means they go into the moderation queue. Don’t worry – I check the moderation queue quite frequently these days.

Q: Is this a pro-ana website?
A: No! Clearly there is quite a diverse group of people who visit this site on a daily basis, and it’s likely that some of them are in fact pro-ana. But this website is strictly a celebrity gossip site (well, that talks about weight, diet, exercise, etc).

Q: If this isn’t a pro-ana website, why are there so many pro-ana comments?
A: I delete any and all pro-ana comments that I see. Believe it or not, there aren’t that many that come through. In my understanding, pro ana comments are comments that are glorify anorexia (or other eating disorders) or talk about purging, excessive restriction, etc. Keep in mind that just because someone comments that a particular celebrity is fat when they clearly aren’t doesn’t mean it’s a pro-ana comment. It only means that the person perceives “fat” differently than you do.

Q: Do you have an eating disorder? Is that why you are doing this website?
A: I have never been diagnosed with one.

Q: Are you crazy?
A: Probably.

Q: Will you show pictures of yourself here so we can see what you look like?
A: Photos of me from several years ago (5+ years) are scattered across the internet. After all, this wasn’t my first well-known website… I am also the owner of ChickLitBooks.com (which was mentioned in the Wall Street Journal & USA Today back in 2005) and several others. I will not be posting pictures of myself here anytime soon. I’m not a celebrity, after all. ;-)

Q: I visit your website and it makes me feel bad about myself. What should I do?
A: Don’t visit it anymore and seek counseling!
