UPDATE TO THIS POST: I added two more recent images (from Gemma at the airport last Wednesday) to this post!

It is being reported that Australian supermodel Gemma Ward is quitting her model career after recent criticism over her weight gain. Gemma – who at one time was notoriously stick-thin (see photos below) – has put on a little bit of weight over the past couple of years. Here is a photo of her from last week in NYC:

She was photographed last week in New York wearing a print jacket, shorts and biker boots and looking more like a healthy young woman and less like an emaciated wraith. Ward had previously been criticized for being too thin in the early part of her career.

The photos were posted by international fashion blogger Bryan Boy and received an number of vicious comments on her new size and shape.

Ward’s modelling agency in New York, Viviens, announced that the Australian had no immediate plans to return to the industry. ‘Gemma hasn’t committed to returning to modelling at any time soon’, a spokeman said, adding Ward had the agency’s full support.

Supermodel Heidi Klum – who gave birth to her fourth child less than a month ago – was spotted leaving an LA hospital yesterday, where she’d gone for a check-up.

She looks amazing!

Back in August, Heidi talked to a tabloid about her pregnancy weight and mentioned that she prefers getting back in shape sooner rather than later after giving birth.

“I never really put a lot of pressure on myself, but for me personally, I feel like it is always better to get into shape immediately. I feel like if I drag it out too long, I’m not going to do it,” the Daily Star quoted Klum as saying.

“So for me it works to kind of get back into shape, afterwards, (so I can) feel great. I can put my normal clothes back on and it makes me happy, and it’s worked so far,” she added.
