Justin Bieber is in a battle with One Direction for the Number 1 spot on the Billboard 200. His album, Purpose, is currently projected sell 450,000 units plus 100,000 in track- and stream- equivalent albums for a grand total of 550,000 units. This is expected to top One Direction’s 475,000 total units.
Justin did five listening events at arenas during release week, where fans where fans could buy just a ticket to the event or a ticket with a digital copy of Purpose. A live stream of the event was offered for $9.99 with an option to redeem a download of Purpose. Bieber also partnered with Lyft to give riders a digital copy of Purpose for $5 (along with a $5 credit for their next ride) and with 1-800-Flowers for a “Sorry”-branded bouquet of roses (a reference to Justin’s second single from Purpose) bundled with a digital copy of the album.
Justin kicks off his Purpose World Tour on March 9, 2016, in Seattle, WA. The singer made headlines for charging fans $2,000 for a selfie with him during meet and greets. But, there’s always the $925 VIP option, which includes a group photo!
