Catherine Zeta Jones: “I’m Not Anorexic!”

I admit up front that I am confused over this story. Since when did anyone say that Catherine Zeta Jones was anorexic? Yet someone did, because now she is very publicly claiming that no, she is NOT anorexic. In fact, she loves bread.
She told People: “Michael was laughing at me. He told me what (people had) said - that stories say I’m anorexic.
Do I look anorexic?
How could I ever, ever be anorexic?
I looooove bread.”
But these days, “I’m just working out and not chomping down what I usually chomp down.”
Anyway, this makes absolutely no sense, especially since Catherine was interviewed only a couple weeks ago for Women’s Diet and Fitness Magazine. Based on that interview, she seems to have a relatively healthy approach to food.
If she’s anorexic, I’m Don Knotts.
Ive always liked her. Lovely face and hair, heard she’s no stranger to the surgeon’s knife though and she’s not that old.

Not really seeing her in a lot of movies these days. She’s got pretty hair, but that’s about it. Married to grandpa=creepy. Yeah, she’s had a LOT of work done, I’ve seen Welsh pics of her pre-surgery, hardly looks like the same person. That being said, I don’t find her figure in the least bit enviable. It’s great she isn’t super thin…but she seems very average to me at best. Anorexic? Sounds like someone needs publicity.
If someone mentioned that she was anorexic it was obvioulsy done to highlight that she is overweight. Which she is. Overweight and immuned to irony.

I think someone implied that she was was purging to get down to this weight for her public appearances (she is normally slightly heavier) and this got warped into her being anorexic. I think she looks fabulours regardless.

She’s amazingly gorgeous. Before I got into the ‘’skinny is more for petite girls n a bit more curvy for tall” i totally loved her hair, face and body.

I laughed when I saw this story on tv last night. I mean WTF? Do people not know what it means to be anorexic anymore? If she was smart she wouldn’t have even defended herself to such a ridiculous claim. How moronic..

Uhhh no, she doesn’t look anorexic, not even a little bit. In fact most of the time she has looked overfed to me. But here she does look slimmer - but very average in size.

She made that comment in response to some tabloids, which had suggested her recent speedy weightloss was the result of an emerging eating disorder. So she didn’t just suddenly come out with it to gain publicity for herself.
Nevertheless, those tabloids were jumping the gun in a big way. Anorexia, my bony little ass.

She probably just said that people were calling her anorexic so everyone would think she was thin. She just wants attention. She’s never been too skinny for cryin’ out loud, so she should just shut up about it. Especially when there are people out there that really DO have anorexia. She’s making it seem so trivial.

She certainly was weightier and had needed to take off pounds a bit ago, but it looks like she’s done that nicely. She’s hardly anorexic, she looks trim and healthy. I would agree that this is a publicity feed in - pardon the sick humor—I will just sit here and crack myself up.

natalie- your rite! anorexics love their food-think about it constantly but see it as a “bad” thing. one food group is bad first, then another, then another until there are none left that are “safe” to eat!
ive learnt that a common trait of anorexia is cooking! they like to cook for other people and will sit and watchppl eat cakes or wat ever food and not have a bite themselves- its gives them more of a sense of control apparently (not saying that they are all like this but apparently it can be common)

I used to be a ravenous carnivore, slim and strong and with an appetite that rivalled that of every male in my family, but then, at some point, something just changed and I was anorexic, lost 30 pounds, still had the appetite but ignored it and started feeding everyone else except myself. Everyone was shocked to learn that I, always the one with almost a LUST for food, was now rejecting it. To look at me before the anorexia, you never would have guessed that I would become anorexic. I didn’t look or act like the “type”. So you never know who has it in her (or him) or who doesn’t. You just don’t.

This has to be a publicity stunt. I say this not based on some “intuitive” guess that she isn’t “the type”. That’s nonsense, because ED’s are no longer limited by class, ethnicity nor age.
My reasoning for thinking her PR people came up with the ridiculous accusations is that her career simply isn’t as hot anymore, so they came up with this story to attract some attention to her, seeing as how her movies certainly aren’t anymore.

I’ve had to delete some comments on this thread because - as a reminder - this is not a pro-ed site. So, the comments glorifying anorexia have been removed. Anorexia is a serious psychological condition that can kill you. It’s not a fad, a diet, or a way to look pretty and skinny!
No doubt some come here to trigger themselves, or to learn how to get an ed, while others just like to comment on weight and Hollywood.
I commend you for keeping up with most comments and culling the ones which glorify disease.

Yes, people, ’tis I with all this “personal information”. Not a stunt Jodi or a faux Jodi or a Jodi wannabe!
I don’t really consider this information too personal, though. It’s just a fact of my life that isn’t a secret. I just never had an opportunity to bring it up before. Not like I was clamoring for one, though, either. It all started 30 years ago, in high school, before it seemed to be all the rage to be anorexic. Before the doctors really even had a name for it or knew what to do with it or about it. I am fine now. I am healthier than I have ever been, am incredibly “fit” and strong, and, at almost 5′6″ and 109-111 pounds (it varies, of course, as it does with most people), am incredibly proud of myself for surviving what was absolute hell. Imagine going through all that without having any sort of “support” or knowing what the hell this disease/disorder was. No internet, no magazines, no information to consult.
I “come out” with this information here because I know there are people on this site struggling with this horror every day and wondering, “Oh dear god, will it ever end? Will I ever feel sane again? Will I ever be able to eat a french fry without wanting to literally kill myself?” And I’m here as proof that you CAN get past it. True, you’ll always be affected *some* way and it is with you even after you’re basically “cured”, but it can be done.
