    i agree i mean if they are honestly healthy, im surprised more of them arent willing to share their regimes. I think it would help promote and healthier attitude towards weight loss and fitness. Not to mention, make goals like this more attainable to women who think it seems impossible!!!

    She said in a recent interview she worksout everyday, runs and lifts weights for hours and she rarely eats anything besides fruit, veg, and light meat. And I belive her 100%. But she’s obsessed with exercising it looks like, any woman with a body like that must be obsessed.

    I don’t understand why people tell women they shouldn’t worry about bulking up because “women don’t bulk up.”

    I know Kelly exercises daily and she eats very healthy. She is TINY, but the woman is in amazing physical shape. Kelly is just a pretty woman period and is really funny.

    She said when she was in Italy, she ate all the time, and did not gain an ounce. She said there was something about italian food we need to learn. I think she kind of overdoes it talking about how much she eats all the time. I pity the diet experts she and Regis interview ever so often—how much can they know that she doesn’t?

    Being thinner and leaner than Kelly I can say from personal experience that it does take a very strict diet and dedication to exercise, both aerobics and resistance training, to achieve and maintain this physique. I wouldn’t say obsessed as Polly said but committed and dedicated.

    I do not believe this woman has an eating disorder. I believe she eats very healthfully and works out probably more than she needs to; but I don’t see that as a problem. She doesn’t look manly, and looking like this is better than being overweight and flabby, or even being skinny fat.

    I think that her muscular and tiny little body is better than looking frail and starved. She would look much better with a little more weight, but I’m sure she eats enough food to be able to work out so much. But the tan is really bad, she should let her skin be it’s natural color.

    It annoys me to see this obsessed woman. I don’t know much about her but I have the impression she tries to pretend being super healthy and fit, while in deed she’s not, at least mentally – as she works out like crazy (literally) and obviously doesn’t eat properly. Second I hate her fake and plastic look, with this skin tone, hair colour and teeth. I always have to think of it as an attempt to erase everything natural and human out of your appearance. Must be really stressing to struggle against mother nature because of this questionable beauty ideal.

    And the shirt doesn’t suit her – way to feminine and playful. When you’ve overdone it like her, you look strange in anything but workout clothes.

    She wears the same size clothing 4 year olds do and I see she sucks her thumb as well! (Maybe what she was “eating all the time” when she was in Italy was her thumb? I should’ve tried that.) Whatever, I love Kelly Ripa. Very cute and so funny. Too bad she seems to have two left feet (photo 1). Buying shoes would be very expensive.

    her arms scare me… her entire body is man-like. to each their own – but i would never want to look like that. i like to look soft and frail, so while my body fat is low like hers i make sure i don’t do too many heavy weights bc at a low body weight any muscle looks big.

    I never really liked her body (her orange skin though is just the worst), I always thought she was too lean, muscular, and shapeless (talking of waist, tits, ass) but after I saw her in a bikini for the first time..I went from not liking her body to being actually repulsed. She has like a 12 pack or something, and no hips at all, and a straight waist, and instead of boobs she has pecs, like a guy. That is where having ridiculously low body fat gets ya – looking the opposite of sexy. Only women admire this kind of body, very few men like women who are so muscular.

    I personally don’t like really muscular arms for a woman…but her torso looks okay. Its actually her legs that are of concern, because if those pants are baggy then she must be quite thin. Also notice how her clothes are baggy? When I wanted to avoid questions about my weight i always wore baggier clothes. :(

    Wow-so tiny, solid, and fit. She must be so committed and consistent to be in this shape. It’s too muscular for my taste and I think she’s too tan. I wouldn’t feel comfortable like that, but she looks good and always looks so confident and happy-I think she’s really pretty and her confidence has a lot to do with it. I think she is inspiring and I’m a fan!

    I have seen her in person. She is absolutely tiny…objectively teeny tiny! It is ridiculous when you read magazines like US and they claim both she and Kim Kardashian are the same size (I believe they claimed both wear a 2). While I have not seen KK, I am positive KR is a 0 tops. I imagine she buys size 0 and has her clothes tailored. I am 5′9.5 and a size 0 and she was slighter than I.

    I believe Kelly when she says that she eats alot. Think about it: if you exercise as regularly and intensely as she obviously does, and if you have the energy to present a show and raise 3 children, then you must be eating well. If she had an ED as most of you speculate, she would not be as lively, her hair would not be shiny and her skin would look awful.

    What it takes is eating no fat and working out very regularly, at least 6 days a week. I think Kelly is great and she obviously looks great! Having the big ego she, herself claims to have and the pressure of being on television, daily as well as being photographed constantly, would be enough motivation for most of us. I workout all the time but would not want to live with THAT kind of pressure.

    i’d love to have arms like her. i’d rather look like this than be overweight or skinny fat.

    And for those saying she doesn’t eat enough – there’s no way she would be able to maintain the muscle she has if she didn’t eat properly. This is a fact – if anyone here actually worked out or lifted weights they would know this. I would say she probably has a very high protein diet (low carbs,low fat) which is why she is so lean. There’s nothing wrong with this.

    I’m also sick of this idea that women should look ’soft’ or ‘frail’. It’s B.S. Be strong and be healthy! It will benefit you in your old age and you’ll be able to take care of yourself. Do you want to sit around waiting for man to do everything for you??

    But she’s not bulked up, she’s tiny. The definition of her muscle only show due to a low body fat percentage. The only way to look like this is through diet.

    3 types of people: people who do not work out, people who work out to be thin, people who work out because they love being strong and find exercise fun…

    obviously kelly is the latter, as am i. my body (arms) are manly as well. sometimes i am jealous of women with tiny ‘feminine’ arms but overall i don’t really care about how i look, i care about how i FEEL – and it feels great to be strong and able.

    obviously we are all different, so i hate to see all women judged by the singular criteria that everything we do is solely relative to appearance. men are not the only athletes. kelly is a great role model.

    Mer, of course the only way to look like this is through diet AND working out. Kate is mistaken. Also, this is not “bulked up”. Serena Williams is bulked up. Kelly is still a tiny package. Her arms may look “huge” but compared to normal or even slightly thick arms, I’m sure they are still overall a smaller size, just very muscular. They also look huge in comparison to her chicken legs & flat chest.

Whether it is just with exercise or with food also, please realize this and understand that this is not an attainable look for 99.9% of healthy women. Who knows what she is doing to her body to achieve this level of muscle to fat ratio, but frankly I dont want to know. Whatever it is, it is extreme.

    My mom is nearing 50 and works out about 1-2 hours every day and eats a TTTTTOOOOONNNNNN (as much as my teenage brother) and wears juniors pants sizes 0-1 at 5′4″. I bet Kelly eats healthily but I don’t think she obsesses.

    @ Mer, Kate is saying that to get very lean is achieved with diet.
    Exercise can make you physically smaller, but keeping your muscle mass & decreasing your fat once you get to a certain body fat can only be done by having a specific diet. Usually a 40%p/30%f/30%c diet.

    Well it’s about 80% diet and 20% exercise. Weight training is a must to maintain/build muscle but the correct diet, i.e. high protein, complex carbs and healthy fats.

    I’m certainly not implying that Kelly doesn’t work out or lift weights, only that she doesn’t really have all that much muscle. For example, say she is 100lb with 85lb of lean mass and 15% body fat…well that’s an average amount of muscle for a woman of 5ft2, the difference is her body fat percentage is a lot lower than the average woman, therefore showing the muscle definition more clearly. This would mostly have been achieved through diet in addition to weight training.

    Anyway just want to add I’m 5ft2 with over 90lb of lean mass and 20% body fat. I’m pretty certain I have more muscle than Kelly but do not look bulky because my body fat % is not as low as hers to show the same degree of muscle definition.

    ‘Skinny-lean’ is the name I give to women like Kelly…very defined but low weight. It could just be her body type, i.e. ectomorph but personally think that level of body fat looks healthier on average weight women.

    I guarantee you she is very strict about what she eats. I work out 2-3 hours a day, and you cannot eat whatever you want; it doesn’t work that way.

    THANK YOU Kate and Regan!!! Her arms are gorgeous and desirable. Maybe not to all, but my husband and friends are envious of mine and I work out with light weights (20lbs max), chin ups, pull ups, dips and push ups twice a week with running between 30 to 40 miles/week. Some of it is genetic, some exercise, and most importantly eating enough protein. Ripa obviously eats plenty of food, or she would have 0 muscle because her body would be consuming it for fuel. Most of you might find her arms too manly, but at least she won’t have the old lady jiggle under arm area.

    I’ve loved Kelly Ripa for years and, while she is obviously very fit, she has, biologically, a very thin frame paired with a strong fitness ethic. Eating well and and working out, especially when you work in an image conscious industry, is laudable.     I think for an adult with what, 3-4 kids? a husband… a demanding career… how does she have the time to work out like that?
